Faith Founded on the Power of God

TOPIC: "Faith Founded on the Power of God" John 5:4 It says in 1 Corinthians 2:5 “… so that your faith may not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” It is not on the wisdom of man that our faith is based, but it is ON THE POWER OF GOD! It is very proper for the human to look at the other human for help. But, there is no capacity in man to bless or to save. Your faith cannot be founded on the wisdom of the mortal. Your faith is founded ON THE POWER OF GOD!

I. THAT IS THE SECRET OF VICTORY IN THIS WORLD!

A. There is no other way, ONLY OUR FAITH!

1. I don't know how much you use faith, but you must know how much you use it! If a lot or a little!

2. Do you live overwhelmed, sad, and troubled? Well, that means that you use only your strength, which is fragile.

3. We should learn to live as believers. The man who is born of God TRULY OVERCOMES THE WORLD. He overcomes it with faith!

4. With faith one rises above all that perishes in this world, it is to be able to look at the eternal things!

5. So, it is not the rich man or the scientist who truly conquers the world, but the simple believer who realizes that the things that are seen are temporary and the things that are not seen are eternal!

6. A contemplation of the glory of God in the face of Jesus dispels the glory of this world!

B. Hebrews 11:6 Accept the faith, because without faith it is impossible to please God!

1. Faith is the only thing that gives God the rightful place and also puts man in his own place.

2. Because it shows that we have more confidence setting our sight on Him than using our earthly sight.

3. Faith not only believes that God exists, but faith trusts that IT REWARDS THOSE WHO SEEK HIM.

4. There is nothing in God that makes it impossible for men to believe, the difficulty is in the human will!

C. Ephesians 6:6 The soldier is to take, seize THE SHIELD OF FAITH!

1. Firmly grasp the shield of faith.

2. That when the fiery darts of the Evil one is fired at you, they hit your shield of faith and fall harmlessly to the ground!

3. Here the faith is the firm trust in the Lord and in His word.

4. Faith is necessary when those darts come, such as the temptations that burn, that bring a flame.

5. Faith is necessary when adverse (negative) circumstances come, when doubts strike.

6. But, it is there then when FAITH LOOKS UP AND SAYS: I BELIEVE GOD!

D. Galatians 5:6 Legalism has no value, BUT THE FAITH THAT WORKS OUT OF LOVE.

1. Circumcision does not make the one in Christ better, nor does uncircumcision make him worse.

2. What God looks for in you is the FAITH that works through love!

3. FAITH IS A COMPLETE DEPENDENCE ON GOD!

4. Faith is not idle, but rather it manifests itself in a detached service to God and to men.

5. The motive for all service IS LOVE.

6. Then, faith works through love; it is motivated by love and not by law.

7. God is not interested in rituals, but in the reality of a pious life!

E. Romans 10:17 "So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of God." When you put your heart into what you’re hearing, in this way you receive the faith.

1. If you sit down to listen indisposed, sleepy, attentive to everything else except the Word, then nothing happens in your life!

2. But, if you attend with an open mind, with a good disposition to listen to God's truth, then the FAITH will indeed come to you!

3. Faith comes from hearing; and the hearing, through the word of God!

4. Faith comes into your life when you listen to me preaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, which is naturally based on the written word of God.

5. If you don't receive the faith, it's your fault! It is because you do not want to hear, because you look from one side to the other, because you fall asleep, because you get upset, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT OF FAITH!

6. The Word is always good for the faith, whether in writing or heard. It is to receive the Word by any means at all!

F. Luke 17:5 "The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith." To forgive seven times a day, as Jesus was teaching them, was something new and impossible for the disciples to believe and accept (Vs. 4).

1. They knew each other and it was very impossible for them to react that way.

2. The heart holds resentments and pain! It results impossible to forgive because of the wounds that are felt.

3. So, that's why they asked the Lord TO INCREASE THEIR FAITH!

4. Just as with the disciples, Jesus also teaches us today to trust Him and to live with a FAITH FOUNDED IN THE POWER OF GOD! Amen.
