Angels for Service

TOPIC: "Angels for Service" Hebrews 1:14 An angel is a supernatural, spiritual being whose duties are to assist (help) and serve God. Angels are often represented as messengers from God in the Bible. We can understand by the Scriptures how they occupied an important place in the life and ministry of Christ: (Luke 1:30, 31) “...the angel said to her: ...you will conceive in your womb...and call his name Jesus.” (Matthew. 1:20) “…behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in dreams and said to him: Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” (Luke 2:10, 11) “...the angel said to them: ...that a Savior, who is CHRIST the Lord, was born to you today in the city of David.” In the temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:11) “...angels came and served him.” (Luke 22:43) “And an angel from heaven appeared to him to strengthen him...” The stone from the grave (Matthew 28:2) was removed by an angel. At His ascension (Acts 1:10, 11) two angels were present and spoke to the disciples, “...why are you looking into the sky?”

I. Angels know Heaven and everything in it.

A. The mission of angels IS NOT TO GOVERN, BUT TO SERVE!

1. God gives them orders and they serve God, who created them.

2. (Job 38:7) This was when the same astros (the stars) sang their hymn and were chanted by the holy angels, who in this passage are the children of God, full of rejoice when they saw the foundations of the earth made.

3. That was AN ANGELICAL CELEBRATION!

4. The presence of angels has always been on earth, BECAUSE THEY ARE WORKERS OF THE GOD OWNER OF EVERYTHING.

5. Our service is to God and Jesus our Savior.

6. We pray to the Father; He knows what we are lacking. Jesus is our Savior and prayer comes to the Father through Him, our Lord. It is clear that angels are servants of the orders that God gives, because He knows the need of each and every thing on earth.

B. (Hebrews 1:14) It is clear, the mission of the angels is not to rule but to serve.

1. They are spiritual beings that God has created for service to favor THOSE WHO WILL INHERIT SALVATION. Wow!

2. Angels serve those who are saved of the penalty and of the power of sin (it does not mean that believers are saved from the presence of sin, since we are still on earth.) But my thinking is according to the Word (Ephesians 1:4) "...as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we might be holy and blameless before Him..."

3. Angels also give service on behalf of those who have not yet been converted. (1 Peter 1: 10-13) Peter encourages to a greater effort to secure the call of God, who was the One who chose us.

4. These servants of God are GUARDIAN ANGELS!

5. Why should we be surprised by this truth?

6. Because, it is certain that there are evil spirits that fight unceasingly against God's chosen ones! (Ephesians 6:12) "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

7. Are we astonished that there are holy angels who guard those who have been called to salvation?

8. We are to return to the main point of the passage, not to the existence of guardian angels, but to the fact that angels are inferior to the Son of God, just as servants are inferior to our Universal Sovereign. Great in the universe is our God!

9. (Luke 15:10) "...there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

10. (Revelation 3:5) Those who have overcome, Christ will recognize them before God the Father AND HIS ANGELS, as He himself promised in Luke 9:26.

11. The angels give their service to God and the day will come when the Father will enjoy your presentation (this is the one who has overcome) and your name will resound before the Father and HIS ANGELS! They will be there, those sent to serve on your behalf! Amen.
