The Wedding Of The Lamb

STUDY: # 1094 CHURCH IN THE HOUSES FROM: MAY 20, 2020

TOPIC: “The Wedding Of The Lamb” Revelation 19:6-10 Now the great crowd (Vs.6) announces something bigger: THE WEDDINGS OF THE LAMB! In other words, THE WEDDING BANQUET; since the nuptial commitment was already made between Christ and the Church. In the East, and during the time when Revelation is written, the wedding is in three phases or stages: (a) First: The nuptial contract that was signed when Christ redeemed His Church (Ephesians 5: 26, 27). Through this contract know that every true believer is already legally bound to Christ in marriage! (b) The second stage: when the groom seeks the bride. This will be accomplished when Christ comes from Heaven to gather His Church. (c) The third stage: is the one we see here, in Revelation 19; the wedding banquet, which occurs when they are already married. It should be clear that, for the Wedding Banquet, the wedding ceremony has already been held and that the groom has already come to pick the bride up. Here in Revelation, John is seeing in the future what will be accomplished with Christ and the Church.

I. When the bride (the Church) went out to meet her Husband who came to look for her, it was when the Church was snatched and met Jesus in the air! (1 Thessalonians 4: 16,17)

A. In Revelation 19:7,8 we see her prepared for the banquet with her Bridegroom.

1. She prepared herself because of her love for Christ (Ephesians 5: 26,27). THE LIVES OF BELIEVERS ARE PURIFIED BY HEARING THE WORDS OF CHRIST AND OBEYING THEM!

2. The bride is perfectly dressed and it is now, after the Great Tribulation has passed, when the wedding feast is going to take place here on earth.

3. Reviewing the three stages of the wedding, let us look at the first stage: The Church, the group of believers who put their faith in Jesus, who unite in commitment with He who gave His own life as payment to the Father. The second stage: the groom, Jesus, is going to claim His bride and take her to the Father's house. And the third stage: THE WEDDING DINNER OF THE LAMB!

4. (Vs.9) “… Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”

5. It is a great and magnificent blessing for those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.

6. His wife has prepared herself dressed in "... fine linen, bright and pure ..." (Vs.8).

7. God seeks us, calls us; to save us. (John 6:44) "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him ..." (Vs.65) Jesus reiterated this point.

8. The Church is the heavenly Bride who rose in the rapture, who was snatched (I Thessalonians 4:16,17), and the guests are the rest of the redeemed.

9. After the rapture, comes the Great Tribulation and there will be seven years in which some will be saved.

10. The Church, the heavenly Bride, is the one that rose in the rapture (who was snatched). They, the believers, were saved by grace. They knew how to be clean through the Word, and they were obedient to the Lord.

11. It has not been easy for the Church to be clean. We know that the Word rebukes us, points us to the depths of darkness in our hearts. It educates us to be faithful believers and teaches us love. We are exposed to everything when we are pointed out by the

Word. We lower our pride. We begin to be obedient. This involves humbling yourself. It is the process of sanctifying and perfecting yourself for God.

12. (Vs.10) John falls at the feet of the “angel to adore him,” but the angel forbids it.

13. Only God should be worshipped!

14. The angel is a servant of John and OF ALL THOSE WHO HAVE THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS!

15. Then the angel adds: "... because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

16. This means that the TRUE PURPOSE OF THE PROPHECY is TO GIVE WITNESS OF THE PERSON AND WORK OF JESUS.

17. Prophecy is the testimony of Jesus. It is destined to unfold before us the beauty and attractiveness of Christ!

18. Jesus Christ! His display of sacrifice, love, dedication and patience! How forgiving, kind, tender and understanding He is with those who believe Him! And who is also a consuming fire!

19. The bride has to prepare for that great day (Matthew 25:6). The foolish did not prepare with the Word, and when the husband delayed in coming, they fell asleep! Let's be careful and not foolish!

20. (Vs.9) “… Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.” Amen.
