Love is Everything

SERMON # 1119-CHURCH IN THE HOUSES DATE: MARCH 1, 2020

TOPIC: "Love is Everything" 1 Corinthians 13 When you love you know how to behave properly, with yourself and with others. When we love ourselves, we take care of ourselves and we consecrate ourselves to the Lord, in this way we can love those we are supposed to love. The only thing that can sustain us to reach heaven is love! You are according to how you love, it is not because of what you say, or because of what you pretend, because in life love is everything!

I. (Vs. 1) We can speak human and angelic languages, but if we don’t love we are then like a metal musical instrument that only makes noise.

A. It is that love is the principle and essence of God, because God is love.

1. In His love we can find all the good for our lives.

2. We put into our heart the desire to achieve what is spiritual, but we need to see what the order of these things is to do it according to what God wants.

3. I can have tongues, but if I don't love for who am I going to speak them? God does want you to seek to have everything spiritual, but to love is the main thing.

4. We cannot only make noise, but rather love, which is what is strong and great for our lives.

5. (Vs. 2) Even if I knew all the great mysteries of God but I don't have love, I am nothing!

6. I could have prophecy, science, understand the mysteries of God and even have a faith that can carry the mountains from one side to the other, but if I don't have love, I won't be doing any good to anyone.

7. If we do not have love, we do not help anything or anyone.

8. (Vs. 3) Paul said that if he distributed all his goods to feed the poor, even if he gave his body to be burned, but did not love, these courageous acts would not be of benefit to him.

9. If what you really want is to draw attention to yourself and find a name like those on TV, then only virtue is exhibited, but lacking love, that is useless!

10. (Vs. 4) It appears that the apostle had found in the lives of the Corinthian brethren situations contrary to love. He must've learned or observed that the Corinthians were impatient, discontented, envious, selfish, unseemly, indifferent to the feelings of others, suspicious (mistrustful, evil-minded), spiteful, and critical.

11. For that reason, Ch. 13 was not a treatise about love but rather for their correction and teaching.

12. Paul is busy teaching them and all the believers the traits of love: a. Love is long-suffering, it is benign (compassionate) (Vs. 7) it does not know envy, it is not boastful (arrogant, conceited, egotistic), it is not puffed up (pride, vanity); it does not know anything improper (what not to do), it is not selfish or self-seeking, it does not get irritated (feel anger at someone), it does not hold a grudge, it does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

13. This is love: Love supports everything, you suffer everything (don't fight for what you have to suffer), you believe everything (even if you look like a fool), you always wait, you tolerate everything, you never get tired of loving because love never ceases to be.

14. Be aware brother that if what you desire is the exterior; the Bible tells us here that external things such as prophecies will end, and tongues will cease, and science will end and

everything that makes us shine in front of the people will cease to be (Vs. 8).

15. It is only in part that we know and do (Vs. 9). In this life our knowledge at best is partial, and the same happens with our prophecies.

16. (Vs. 10) When perfection comes, that is, when we achieve what is promised by the Lord which is the perfect state in the eternal world, then the gifts of partial knowledge and partial prophecy will fall into disuse. What really reaches heaven is the love that we manifest, if you don't have it you won't get there!

17. (Vs. 11) In our childhood everything is immaturity and very limited, so we are here on earth for the knowledge of God, prophecies, etc. But, for eternity we will be like complete and knowledgeable adults. Then, this earthly life will be like the infantile, it will be a thing of the past.

18. (Vs. 12) We see things like dark here on earth, like a blurred mirror. In heaven we will see how it looks face to face, that is, with nothing in between that can obstruct our vision. What we now know is partial (a part of the whole), but then we will know as we are known, it means fully!

19. (Vs. 13) Faith, hope and love! Love is the greatest, well, it is the most useful for everything. Love, for love is everything! Amen.
