Sunday, December 27, 2020 Receive God in Haste (Genesis 18:1-22)

Do not forget hospitality, because for it some unknowingly hosted angels. (Gen. 13:2) (Matthew 10:40-41) He who receives you receives Me. And he who receives Me receives the one who sent Me (the Father). You receive God's representative. What was done by them would be regarded as a deed to the Lord Himself and would consequently be (therefore rewarded). The prophet came from the Lord to instruct. Is this a messenger from God to me? Is this man a prophet of God to my soul? If it is, receive it, magnificent (which is great, good, great quality) his word and deed and with him part of his reward.

I. God blesses with His visits to Abraham.

A. We can see how Abraham, how kindly his lodging was accepted.

1. He forgot his age and heaviness, ran out of the door of his tent to receive them in the most

persuasive way and with the greatest courtesy: and prostrated himself on the ground.

2. Our Christian life does not destroy (1 Peter 2:17). Honor (show respect) to all. Love your brothers.

3. Abraham's heart was willing to be a servant.

4. Lord, if I have now found grace in your eyes, do not go away, stay with me, "it is a plea."

5. The holy visit had no commitment to pray to God. He is. There were three men.

6. Actually, two of them were angels and the other was Jehovah Himself.

7. Abraham and Sarah hosted the angels.

8. One greater than the angels with the typical hospitality of their time.

9. First let him bring some water now and wash their feet full of the dust of the long road.

10. They can be laid under a tree; at that time, it was the most comfortable.

11. Abraham's turn: I'll bring a bite of bread.

12. Jesus was waiting for everyone, to eat.

13. Sustain your heart: bread and meat is the food necessary to have strength, courage.

14. (Vs. 6) Abraham was in a "hurry," he tells him how to make bread.

15. (Vs. 7) Abraham ran to the cows and took a tender and good calf and gave it to the servant and he hurried to prepare it, he was just like his master.

16. He took butter, milk, and the calf; he stayed with them, he was not the trusted friend, he was God with him.

17. (Vs. 9) Where is Sara your wife? You will have your child.

18. Sarah laughed that God was reminding her.

19. I couldn't believe it anymore, it's been 24 years of the long wait, and what was difficult seemed impossible; it's not our logic, things are when God wants.

II. God had to tell Abraham of Sodom.

A. Receive God in a hurry

1. Now it was Sodom.

2. The heavenly messengers had finished the first task of their chores: Sodom has to be destroyed.

3. The honor that Abraham paid to his guests: Abraham went with them accompanying them, as one who was willing to accompany them to wherever they went, was the most beautiful company, was to give Him his greatest respect, with love.

4. Seeing Abraham's heart, God gives him what heaven was going to do with Sodom.

5. God communicates to him His intention to destroy Sodom.

6. Abraham must know, "for he is a favorite friend."

7. Those who lived by faith a life of communion with God, it is natural that they know of God's plans more than other people.

8. You have greater communion than others about the present (Hosea 14:9); for the ways of Jehovah are right and the righteous will walk through them; and they will have greater foresight (what is to happen) of what is to come.

9. How good if we lived that way!

10. We wouldn't be so anxious about what doesn't concern us, or what it's not; you'd know more than you'd have to fight, conquer, and heaven would tell you.

11. Abraham must know this, so that he may instruct his family.

12. You want family blessings; you must become aware of your duties to your own.

13. If our children are to be of the Lord, they must be nurtured and raised by Him; if they wear His holy clothes, be trained in His work.

14. Let us not fill their heads with matters of subtle speculation or dubious acceptance but teach them to keep the ways of God and to do judgment and justice; that is, to be seriously devoted in the worship of God "and sincerely honest in their dealings with men."

15. Abraham made every effort to ensure that his family, after his example, "may keep the ways of the Lord so that religion might flourish in his family, when he was already in the tomb."

16. God's "friendly conversation with Abraham."

17. He tells him of the evidence against Sodom.

18. Some sins and the sins of some sinners cry out to heaven for revenge.

19. Men tend to suggest that God's ways are not equitable but know that His judgments are the result of "eternal counsel" and never resolutions taken rashly and lightly.

20. (Isaiah 59:16) Perhaps the decree spoken of here was not yet a deadline for destruction, in order to give Abraham space and encouragement (to stimulate him) to intercede for them.

21. So, God looked to see if there was anyone who interceded and saw that there was no man and marveled that there was no one to intercede (get in the middle). Amen.
