That God Tested Abraham

"That God Tested Abraham" (Genesis 22:1-12) No one in life can be a good "believer" if we are not tested: (1 Peter 1:7) so that the proof of your faith, more precious than the gold that perishes, though tested by fire, may be found (resulting in praise, glory, and honor in the revelation of Jesus Christ) (Job 23:10); when I have been tested, I will come out as gold (Psalm 66: 10.12). For you have tested us, O God; you have refined us as silver is refined. (Jeremiah 9:7). Therefore, this is how the Lord of the Armies says: Behold, I will refine and test them, for what else can I do with the daughter of my people?

I. We come to the Lord inexperienced.

A. Without any experience in faith and therefore we are not competent, enough for something.

1. For this reason, neither you nor I are competent when we come to the Lord, like Abraham in faith.

2. No other scene in the Bible, with the exception of Calvary itself, is more poignant than this one.

3. The supreme test of Abraham's faith came when God commanded him to offer Isaac in a burnt offering in the land of Moriah.

4. In reality, God did not intend for Abraham to keep His commandment.

5. You know that Moriah is the mountain range where Jerusalem is located (2 Chronicles 3:1) and is also the site of Calvary.

6. God's words: "Your son, Isaac, whom you love, 'must have been harsh words' for Abraham, like a deep wound.

7. Maybe you love yourself more than anyone else.

8. This is why you take care of yourself, you demand for yourself all attention, you take care, you pamper yourself, you feel offended by everything, because you are very loved by yourself.

9. You have not walked through god's trials; for this reason, you have no growth, no faith and no fruit, and no inheritance as Abraham had in the nation of Israel, his fruit.

10. You have sought for your pride and have nothing in inheritance for others.

11. At first it was proven that he was seen to love God more than his father.

12. He is now tested to be seen to be "that he loves God more than his son."

13. When God has tested you, it is so that you can let us see who you love the most.

14. And who do you love the most?

15. God tested Job, that he would show himself, not only as a good man, but as "a great man."

16. Abraham, who raised himself up as a schoolboy who is promoted to "a higher class," having brilliantly passed the test of a difficult exam.

17. To his amazement, what God says to him is simply: Abraham, go and kill your son.

18. Each word is like a sword "that reaches to the bones"; the test is hardened with steel phrases.

19. If it were you, you would be crying, calling everyone giving the word of God, as if it were hurtful to your ears because you are deserving; of what?

20. God asks His son.

21. I want your son: Take Isaac, your laughter, your only child.

22. Take now that son of you, that one of you, that you love, that Isaac.

23. Moriah, it was three days away, so that he would think, more time to reflect and thus the service of his faith and his obedience would be more reasonable and more honorable.

24. It wasn't lightly, it wasn't without thinking, it was hours, minutes, nights, and days. How much faith, enthusiasm and trust in the God who brought him in faith!

25. Do not pretend that what we have to learn will be from today to tomorrow, we are tested, because we have known God.

26. He is a humble, submissive, and obedient son.

27. Without decomposing, he converses with Isaac about the sacrifice, as if he were going to offer an ordinary sacrifice.

28. For perhaps, Abraham had the confidence: God will provide himself with a lamb for the burnt offering.

29. Abraham in his long walk with God, knew of miracles: God took care of him from enemies, fed him, prospered him, guidedhim, gave him a son at the ninety years of Sarah. I believe that Abraham knew how to be tested and how to make God see that he was obedient, meek, and believed God. He was spent in years and knowing the faith, he had to know that the one who tries is God because God is interested in taking from one, to continue every day of our life refining (outstanding, distinguished, select, purify, cleanse, improve, refine) to show that we are of faith and thus God tests us.

30. You come to worship, but are you willing to offer your heart to God, so that it may rise to Him like a burnt offering?

31. It is an act of faith and obedience that deserves to be contemplated by God, by angels and by men.

32. (V. 11-12) The command to offer him was given only to test Abraham; therefore, the order is now revoked (to render the order null and void): Do not extend your hand over the boy.

33. Remember that the more imminent the danger, the more admirable and welcome the liberation is.

34. I already know that you fear God.

35. When God is feared, we can see our prompt and voluntary willingness to obey Him, serve Him and honor Him with the dearest we have. Amen.
