The Way of Good and Evil (Genesis 28:1-22) This chapter lets us see the life of the one who is able to let himself be carried away by the mighty God in His order. We can see the carnality of the one who thinks he can lead his life: by cunning, flesh, resentment, and other things that life is allowed to fill the heart.

I. Isaac gives instructions to Jacob.

A. This influences Esau to show his rebellion against his father and mother.

1. Isaac's decision, about Jacob, for Esau makes him filled with rage, courage, discomfort, and rebellion.

2. He is helped by Isaac's decision with Jacob, Esau poured all his bitterness and revenge against his mother.

3. (Hosea 12:12) But Jacob fled to the land of Aram, Israel "served to acquire woman and by acquiring woman was a shepherd.

4. He acquired a wife, was a pastor and served.

5. Jacob had everything: he was blessed with an abundance of wheat and must and went poor, he served to have a wife; he had been promised lordship, he was shepherd of sheep, employed, he was to serve in a hard service.

6. Those who inherit the blessing know that they will have persecution.

7. His father sends him away.

8. He blessed him: Do not take wife from the daughters of Canaan.

9. Jacob is the heir to the promise and his wife cannot be incredulous.

10. He had already blessed him without knowing that it was him, now he blesses him knowingly, to give encouragement to what awaits him, he is no longer the son cared for, protected, with an abundance of food, he was the one of the promise.

11. (Vs. 3) The promise of heirs: God bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you.

12. There has never been a multitude of people so often gathered in assembly, as that of the tribes of Israel in the wilderness and beyond.

13. Through him was to descend from Abraham that person and in whom all the families of the earth were to be blessed and all things of the universe were to be summarized (Ephesians 1:10).

14. The promise of an inheritance for those heirs: That you may inherit the land on which you dwell.

15. Canaan was thus linked to Jacob's offspring and detached from that of Esau.

16. Here he is told that he will inherit the land on which he is now a pilgrim.

17. Embarks on the road to Syria, very desolate what has been experienced at this time (pain, ruined, roughened, saddened).

18. Esau learns and sees how Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him to Padan-aram, to look for a wife there; and when he blessed him, he had commanded him not to take wife from the daughters of Canaan.

19. Moreover, he knew that Jacob had obeyed his mother and father and had gone to Padanaram.

20. Esau understood that the daughters of Canaan seemed bad to Isaac; and Esau left and took for himself the daughter of Ishmael son of Abraham, and Ishmael was an enemy of Isaac, the spirit of rebellion did not know to be humble, pride, arrogance for giving so much room to what he thought was his, as Ishmael did.

21. (V. 11) In a hard stone by pillow God reveals Himself to the meek, he had a dream.

23. He saw a ladder leading from earth to heaven and the angels of God going up and down it and Jehovah was at the top of it.

24. God's providence, by which there is constant communication between heaven and earth.

25. God's wisdom is at the top of the ladder and directs all the impulses of the second causes toward the glory of the First Cause.

26. Jacob understands that he had a good guide and guardian in his coming and going.

27. (V. 12) The angels went up as if they had been accompanying Jacob on his journey.

28. Who would be accompanying Esau in his rebellion with the holy?

29. (V. 13–14) God makes him understand that it would be for him, the same as it had been for Abraham and Isaac.

30. He is promised the land of Canaan.

31. He is promised that his offspring would multiply extraordinarily "like the dust of the earth."

32. It is added that the Messiah will come out of his loins, for in him all the families of the earth will be blessed.

33. He walked a long road alone, unknown, to a different country; for God says to him: Behold, I am with you.

34. And God promises him that He will bring him back to the land from which he departed.

35. God reveals Himself to him: and he understands: How terrible this place is!

36. And this is how he saw it then: It is nothing but God's house and Heaven's gate.

37. To make a covenant: He raised the stone by sign.

38. He feared God more than anything in life.
