“Army of Flies” - Exodus 8:20, 32 God gives Moses orders to get up early and go to meet Pharaoh when he leaves the river. While Pharaoh pleasantly sleeps and wakes up for his rich bath in the river, Moses is very much in the morning awakened by God, to follow the great battle and that the people have what was promised to Abraham: a nation, the promised land, its houses, its animals, fruits and the "freedom from slavery."

I. Moses was to (obligation to do) do what, by divine law, came to him.

A. Stand before Pharaoh.

1. How haughty Pharaoh was!

2. It was not prosperity or flattery to the great king Pharaoh for his slave Moses.

3. How haughty Pharaoh was, Moses must have stood before him.

4. He had to communicate to him something extremely humiliating to him: if he refused to let the Israelites out, he would have to face an army of flies.

5. Those flies would obey God's commands, if Pharaoh did not obey them.

6. In this plague, there was to be a very noticeable (remarkable) difference between the Egyptians and the Israelites.

7. Pharaoh must be made aware that God is Jehovah in the midst of the earth, and this will be known precisely by the way in which the plague will be inflicted (cause harm, punishment imposed) since it will affect the Egyptians, but not the Israelites.

8. "I will make a distinction between my people and yours."

9. (2 Timothy 2:19) Notice that the Lord knows those who are His.

10. It is not that merely one says that we are of Him, who knows who His are, absolutely it is Him.

11. (Malachi 3:18) ... and you will discern the difference between the just and the evil, between the one who serves God and the one who does not serve Him.

12. The one who lives according to The Law of God is known.

13. (Ezekiel 34:17) ... between the sheep and the goats.

14. (Matthew 25:32) although now they appear mixed.

15. The plague (V. 24) came the day after its announcement.

16. All kinds of annoying flies came.

17. Pharaoh, knowing in the face of such a terrible attack, wants to sign the surrender to Moses and Aaron.

18. Let his captives leave, but it can be observed from the first moment, with how much repugnance he makes his promise.

19. It would be pleasing for him to offer sacrifice to their God as long as they do so in "the land of Egypt."

20. But Moses "will not accept this condition," because he cannot accept it.

21. He says: we must a take three-day journey into the desert.

22. Those who wish to offer God an acceptable sacrifice must withdraw from the "distractions of the world."

23. It is the world or the holy, far from the mundane because it brings evil to lives.

24. Israel cannot keep the feast of the Lord either among the bricks or among the pots of meat of Egypt.

25. Regrettable as you want to worship Him, with filth, then fire falls and is strange.

26. Although they were in the deepest degree of slavery under Pharaoh; however, in God's service, "they were to observe God's commands and not Pharaoh's."

27. Let us take care of our lives today more than ever as we know this word clearly and precisely today.

28. In God's service we must know God's commands, not those of the world.

29. When the proposal is rejected, he understands that they go to the desert, but on the condition that they "do not go any further."

30. You can see the struggle that Pharaoh has in his inner being, between his conviction and his corruption; his conviction shouts at him: "let them go"; but his corruption adds: "But not far away." "The end result was that he took sides with his corruption against his conviction, and this brought him complete ruin."

31. Moses accepted the proposal, under the promise to "pray that the plague would be removed."

32. As a result of this prayer, God benignly withdrew the plague, but Pharaoh returned with deceit and ingratitude to harden his heart, "and did not let the people go."

33. So much pride did not allow him to detach himself from such vanity of his crown "as was the dominion he exercised over Israel, nor his greed to let go of a people who, with their hard work, provided so much performance (that gave him).

34. "In Goshen (V. 22), in which my people dwell.

35. "There the flies could not dwell because they were the people where God dwelt.

36. That the whole world may know that I am Jehovah in the midst of the earth.
