Do Well Forever

Do Well Forever - Exodus 19:5 From Adam until this time there was no direct law from God. The dealings between the Lord and His people had been (predominantly) predominance (power to influence, to impose oneself, to dominate) in grace. Now He offers them a conditional covenant of law.

I. Now, then, if ye will listen to My voice.

A. You will keep My covenant.

1. Then "you will be my special treasure" over all peoples.

2. You will be to me a "kingdom of priests" and "holy people."

3. This is God's thought for the earth.

4. If they obeyed, "I would bless."

5. Without perceiving their own sinful situation and insufficiency, the people willingly agreed: let us be equal. D.I. Moody comments.

6. The people agreed and said, "Whatever Jehovah has said, we will do."

7. (Deuteronomy 5:29) If only they had such a heart to fear Me and keep all “My commandments always…"!

8. May their living be that essence of God in them; and how did God manifest Himself in them? Keeping His commandments that were not heavy, they were righteousness and of purity.

9. God knew they had no heart to keep His commandments.

10. He wanted them to have it, so that He could bless them abundantly.

11. They and their children would do well forever.

12. How are you doing?

13. How are yours doing?

14. God blesses abundantly, in your hands is what comes into your life from God and what yours learn.

15. (1 Kings 3:1-4) God appeared to Solomon in Gibeon and asked him what he wanted most.

16. Notice, brother, what Solomon asks, "an understood heart" for the great work of judging and leading the "people" of Israel.

17. This "pleased" the Lord.

18. And it was granted to him, together with riches and glory with long life; "I will lengthen your days."

19. This was the condition if Solomon walked in obedience to God.

20. (James 1:25) The man who looks attentively "at the Word of God and who habitually puts it into practice."

21. His "attentive contemplation" and meditation has good results in his life.

22. For you, the Bible is the "perfect law of liberty."

23. What she says is not burdensome to you (annoying or heavy).

24. The Word commands you to do precisely what your "new nature likes to do."

25. In obeying, he finds true freedom from human traditions and "carnal reasoning."

26. The truth sets you free.

27. This is the man who benefits from the Bible.

28. Do not forget what you read, try to live it in daily practice.

29. "He shall be blissful, happy, blessed in what he does"; "Your simple childish obedience brings untold obedience to your soul."

30. (Revelation 22:1-2; 22:14) "Blessed are those who wash their clothes," and they keep the commandments."

31. They keep the Word, and it washes us when it corrects, points out the bad, when it teaches us the good, when it reveals the Father, when it teaches us the commandments and when it lets us know the purity of heaven in order to reach it.

32. Blessed are those who wash their clothes.

33. Because we want to have access to "the tree of life" and the "eternal city."

34. If we do not know what we should be as believers or saved and we are not able to bear fruit because we have not learned to do works out of love, with a heart of surrender, because we are not obedient to the Word that commands us to do good, then we will not know "the tree of life and the eternal city."

35. (1 John 3:22) Whatever we ask we will receive from Him.

36. For we keep His commandments.

37. We do the things that are pleasing before Him.

38. To keep "His commandments" is to abide in Him.

39. It is living in close and vital intimacy with the Savior.

40. When we have fellowship with Him in this way, "we do His will ours."

41. By the Holy Spirit, He fills us with the knowledge of His will.

42. In such a condition, we would not ask for anything outside of God's will.

43. When we ask in accordance with His will, "we receive from Him those things that we ask of Him." Amen.
