Sanctification is worth the blood of the Son of God

"Sanctification is worth the blood of the Son of God" - 1 Thessalonians 4:7 We cannot fail to sanctify ourselves. Sanctification is in all your life, a whole race in the way of our God. We cannot stop. For this reason, it is that many do not reach the end of their days in the purity of the Lord and although they ran in sanctification, they thought they had reached sanctification and their steps on the road were getting slow and at the end of the road they go back.

I. Sanctify yourselves = set apart, set it apart for an end.

A. (Hebrews 12:14) Without holiness no one will see God!

1. Why sanctify ourselves: (1 Peter 1:13-19) God is holy, the reason (1 Peter 1:15) why we should be holy. Nothing unclean comes near Him. In all our ways of living (1 Peter 1:15). God's disposition is holy, and nothing unclean can be near Him. We are His people we cannot live with sin because He is holy; (1 Peter 1:17) God judges Our works. We must be holy because God will judge all sin. (Revelation 20:11-15); For our lives (1 Corinthians 3:12-15) there is a day when we will stand before His presence where He will evaluate the "quality" of our godly life and the "intentions" for which we did things and some will suffer eternal shame in that day, even if salvation is not lost: For (1 Peter 1:19) our sanctification is worth the blood of Christ.

2. (Hebrews 10:26-27) We must be holy because our own sanctification is worth the blood of the Son of God. Every time we sin, we are despising the sacrifice that our Lord Jesus Christ made on the cross of Calvary, that "vicar" act of supreme sacrifice that He made to forgive our sins, cleanse us from our evils and give us eternal life would be trampled, more likely it is on the way to eternal judgment.

3. (Hebrews 10:14) Sanctification is both absolute and progressive: for with a single offering, He made the sanctified perfect forever. Absolute in the sense that it is a work done once and for all. The believer is holy according to his position in Christ since He has cleansed him from all his sins, "but" he has been called to "live in holiness" and perfect himself. This is known as progressive practical sanctification. Of this, (Myer P.) tells us: Sanctification is both absolute and progressive. Absolute in the sense that it is a work done once for all (Hebrews 10:14) and progressive in the sense that the believer must follow holiness (Acts 10:14) and perfect his consecration by cleansing himself of all filth. (2 Corinthians 7:1) We Christians are to be expected to turn from all filth and live godly in this world, as truly redeemed; "perfecting holiness" in the fear of God.

4. (1 John 3:2) Final or perfect sanctification. We are on earth called to perfect our holiness, but we are still imperfect beings, but one day God will glorify Himself in our being leading us to perfect holiness. Whether at the rapture or at the time of passing into His presence at death, the work Christ began will be perfected into perfect sanctification: (1 John 3:2) "Beloved now we are children of God, and what we are to be has not yet been manifested; but we know that when He manifests Himself, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. (Lewis) explains how this perfect sanctification takes place in our lives: Ultimate sanctification is that aspect related to

our final perfection, and we will possess it in glory," by His grace and by His transforming power. He will have transformed our spirit, soul, and body so that we will be as He is, conformed to His image. Then He will make us enter perfect into the presence of His glory. His wife will be free from all blemish and wrinkle; therefore, it is proper for us to abstain from every appearance of evil.

5. (1 Corinthians 15:51-53) Thus, the time will come when our mortal body becomes a fully glorified body and then perfect sanctification will occur. In the meantime, we must strive to perfect our holiness before God until we reach heaven, until we are finally before His presence: (Philippians 3:20-21).

6. Means of perfecting holiness:

a. Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) You have your old nature.

b. Receive power when the Spirit comes upon you.

7. The Word of God:

a. (Psalm 119:9) With what will the young man clear his way?

b. By keeping your word.

c. (John 17:17) Sanctify them in Your truth; Your word is true.

d. Reading it every day sanctifies you in His word, as you obey it. Amen.
