He kissed him

"He kissed him" – 1 Samuel 10:1-9 Saul was anointed with oil on "his head and kissed him." Samuel takes it as a fact, that God had anointed him prince over his people Israel. Such a kiss assures him of his love and dedication. As a prophet, Samuel gives his approval. Although Samuel diminished his own power. He kissed him with respect and paid homage to him (public admiration and respect).

I. Saul is now a prince.

A. This entails (withstanding, enduring, or tolerating) being diligent, effortful, and dangerous.

1. Jehovah had anointed him.

2. By God he was to rule, and therefore for Him he was to rule and depend on Him and for His Glory.

3. He was to rule over Jehovah's inheritance, to take care of it, protect it, and order all its affairs as a good steward.

4. They confirm that his father already had the donkeys, but his father was worried: what will I do about my son?

5. (3) Bethel, three men will come out to meet you and go up to God, one carrying three goats, another three loaves of bread, and the third a vessel.

6. These men will worship God, moved by God, so that His glory may come to that place, bringing their sacrifices and offerings.

7. (4) They will give you two loaves of bread.

8. Saul was to receive them as the first gift offered to the new king, from the hands of men unknown to him, "but to whom God," "without knowing themselves why they did it," He had put it in their hearts to do so, so that the sign was all the more convincing to Saul, because it was a supernatural case for Saul: Who was he that strangers would bring him bread?

9. Most notably, he was to join a "company of prophets" that Jehovah's "Spirit" would come upon him and prophesy.

10. First Samuel anoints him, secondly three men who were to feed him, the company of prophets, there the Spirit of the LORD will move (4) and come upon Saul with power, and Saul also will prophesy with the prophets.

11. Now upon Saul will be something unseen, unfelt, and utterly unknown to him.

12. He had to become a man of faith now more than anything else in life.

13. It was necessary for him to awaken in his ordinary life, the reason was to get into the atmosphere of faith: miracles, power, to overcome, to conquer, to form an army, to take the territory, to give the people security, protection, to win, conquests, to form them and lead them so that the people would have faith like him, to overcome all that they had to obtain from God, upon them, His people.

14. This was to happen: On the hill of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is.

15. Thus the Philistines conquered that place.

16. But there, God raised up the man who was to punish them.

17. (5) There was a place called "God's hill" because of one of the schools of prophets that had been built there.

18. And such respect did he deserve from the Philistines themselves that a garrison (group of soldiers) of their soldiers was able to live peacefully next to a school of prophets of God without disturbing the public exercise of their "devotions" (emotion, love, fervor, veneration).

19. He would find a company (other people) of God's prophets without disturbing the public exercise of his devotions.

20. He would find "a company of prophets" who carried musical instruments and would go about prophesying, whom he was to join, to prophesy with them.

21. These prophets devoted themselves to the study of the law, to instruct their neighbors, and to various acts of devotion, especially to praise God.

22. What a pity it was that Israel grew weary of the rule of such a man who, as a man of God, had instituted the schools of prophets!

23. The prophets were in a high place, offering sacrifice, and now they were returning singing psalms.

24. Saul was to be inwardly moved to join them, and he would be "changed into another man”.

25. (7) Do whatever comes to you, for God is with you.

26. (9) Saul is now separated from Samuel.

27. The signs that Samuel had given him were fulfilled with all punctuality; but what gave him the greatest satisfaction was to find immediately that God had given him "another heart." (changed)

28. That happens: A new fire is kindled in his chest, and he feels his heart full of courage.

29. The donkeys have been forgotten, and all that remains is the struggle against the Philistines.

30. Whoever God calls for (something) some service, He also qualifies for Himself.

31. (10) And when they came to the hill, there he met the prophets of whom Samuel had spoken to him, and He came upon him with might, strongly.

32. It was not a dwelling place to settle in.

33. What he felt when the Spirit of God came upon him, therefore produced that he "prophesied among the prophets whom he had gathered with. Amen.
