God's Protection

"God's Protection" - Psalm 61:1-8 You can call this Psalm a pearl. When the mind cannot find a word to say, this Psalm gives (to put things in order, to achieve a desired goal, to dispose and arrange something with due correspondence in its parts what it needs or is expedient for) expression. It is believed that this Psalm was written by David in Absalom's "revolt" (mutiny, agitation that produces a disturbance of the order).

I. David cries out to God, because He has provided good for him.

A. He praises God because he is sure that God will continue to dispense (give, bestow) His favor on him.

1. David had intimate communication with God through prayer in the days of trouble and anguish.

2. Whatever happens, "I will cry out to my God."

3. And we will not let Him go, until God blesses us, as Jacob said.

4. (2) From the ends of the earth I will cry to Thee.

5. From the most remote and obscure corner of the country.

6. "Though my heart faints."

7. One cannot be so sunken or so desperate as not to get up to pray.

8. If I stop praying, I will become a victim of despair.

9. It is said: one has ceased to pray to be a victim of despair.

10. The end is reached when we put an end to our prayers.

11. It is not when one has lost purification or we have never sought it, for which we are in despair, this Psalm is that life that has risen around us, those who betray, those who do not love you and take advantage of your silence, the one who sells you, the one who mocks you, the one who betrays you, and after all they do not love you, you are a scouring pad to them: O soul, how they have wanted to destroy you! Those who have dipped bread on the table!

12. The great triumphs of faith are achieved amid the most difficult trials.

13. Take me to the highest rock to find me farther out of the reach of my troubles.

14. Lift me up, "You" "because I can't."

15. The distant one can't kill you, the one who is close kills you.

16. May the due time come and "let him have what he asks."

17. (3) "For Thou hast been my refuge and a strong tower against the enemy."

18. A rock taller than me and I know you'll take me to that rock.

19. Like so many other times we have developed faith in every evil that has been willed against us for lack of love.

20. Experience nourishes our faith and makes us strong and unbreakable (infrangible, tough).

21. (4) I will dwell in Your tabernacle forever.

22. The wickedness of his son led him to be exiled from the sanctuary and this was what caused him the most sadness, but he is sure that God in His gracious providence will bring him back.

23. I will dwell in Your tabernacle forever, though the multitudes want to detach me from it (tabernacle).

24. (5) For You, O God, have heard my vows; "Thou hast given me the inheritance of them that fear Thy name." "God"

25. My God is witness to all our vows, all the promises of "obedience."

26. If we suffer, it is the inheritance of the saints; if we are persecuted, we are in poverty or temptation; All of this is included in the deed of the inheritance of the elect.

27. We have the same inheritance as the Firstborn Himself; What could be better?

28. (6) David hoped that, just as he was always to dwell in the tabernacle of God by way of duty, so he was to stand for long days before God by way of comfort.

29. We need not desire an inheritance other than that of those who fear God. (5b)

30. (7) There is no need to fear.

31. He designates (for a certain purpose) "mercy and truth," to be preserved (protect, guard, defend, maintain) (King David) to be preserved!

32. May they (mercy indeed) keep them!

33. May they be something like guardian angels!

34. David is sure that God will prolong his life and therefore he prays that God will preserve it for him; He does not ask to be assigned a strong personal guard, nor a fortified castle, but to prepare mercy and truth for his preservation. Hallelujah!

35. David didn't need anything else to be sure but the "protection of God's mercy" and "truth."

36. So, I will sing Your name forever. (8)

37. David, he stood before God and under adversity, he asked; "Prepare mercy and truth," and not amiss that he touched my dwelling, for I love Thee."

38. There should be a parallel between our supplications and our acts of grace. Amen.
