Commitment to the Holy Spirit

"Commitment to the Holy Spirit" - Matthew 16:13-20 What was as an embryo (it is the initial stage of the development of...), the church. Then there is the commitment to the Holy Spirit, which is intertwined, the church and the Holy Spirit, which are united or should be united. Nowadays people live for themselves, because the world offers vanity, vain things.

I. And you, who do you say that I am?

A. Who do men say the Son of Man is?

1. Some saw Jesus as: Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

2. Peter said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

3. What was in embryo, now Jesus, is already raising it up through Peter.

4. To Peter it had been supernaturally "revealed" by "God the Father."

5. But the Son had something important to say to Peter as well.

6. Jesus added, "And I also say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build 'my church,' and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

7. What did Peter say of Jesus? You are the Christ, the Son of the living God; the obvious "answer" is that the rock is Peter's confession that Christ is the Son of the living God, the truth upon which the Church is founded.

8. We can see in: Acts 4:11, 12: That people had reproved, the so-called religious, and it was they themselves who reproved Jesus, who is the reprobate stone. (rejected); (1 Peter 2:4-8).

12. The church, still future when Jesus spoke these words, was constituted on the "Day of Pentecost," and is composed of all true believers in Christ, both Jew and Gentile.

13. The church was in embryo, until Jesus brought it to the ears of the apostles.

14. Now the embryo ceases to be, and the commitment to the Holy Spirit arrives (Acts 2:112).

15. Birth of the Church.

16. The feast of "Pentecost," which typifies the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, took place fifty days after the Feast of First Fruits.

17. It was the day of Pentecost (harvest time, fifty days after the exodus from Egypt), and the disciples "were all with one accord together."

18. Because on that wonderful day, back in Jerusalem, the Church of Jesus Christ was rising.

19. "That we might be bound together as 'one' man."

20. That commitment that we must all have with the Holy Spirit.

21. The life of the spirit involved a sound to be heard, a spectacle to be "seen," and a miracle to be experienced.

22. The "sound," which "was from heaven" and which "filled the whole house," was like a strong wind. (intense, violent).

23. The (3) spectacle to be seen was "tongues as of fire," which "splitting out," rested on each of the disciples.

24. "Tongues like fire."

25. The Holy Spirit came to dwell in believers and to train them, and "the Church was formed."

26. Tongues are a miraculous gift; in other languages they would now speak.

27. The "fire" of the Holy Spirit as the source of this gift and showing that he described the bold, ardent and enthusiastic proclamation that was to follow.

28. The thought of an enthusiastic proclamation (publication of a decree) seems especially apt, "because enthusiasm is the normal condition of a Spirit-filled life, and its inevitable result is the testimony.

30. The miracle that was to be experienced, connected with Pentecost, was the filling of the "Holy Spirit," which would be followed by speaking in other tongues.

31. (John 14:17) The Holy Spirit takes up residence in the disciples.

32. Hitherto, the Spirit of God had been with the disciples, but now He took up His abode.

33. In the Old Testament the Spirit descended upon men, but not as a permanent Resident (Psalm 51:11).

34. (John 14:16) Beginning from the time of Pentecost, the Spirit of God began to dwell "permanently in persons": He came to abide, not to come and go.

35. (Ephesians 4:30) Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

36. We can't have the Holy Spirit grieve.

37. The Holy Spirit is the agency which the Father and Christ employ for the sanctification of the believer.

38. It is, therefore, the sanctifying Spirit who is directly offended, grieved, by the sinful believer.

39. The Spirit possesses divine personality and for this reason is constrained. (constricts – afflicts, saddens, grieves)

40. Every sin is a corrupt stain that makes the following ugly:

a. That faces dangerous situations without fear.

b. Brave, with a strong spirit.

c. He is not afraid of danger. Work of the Spirit.

41. Let's clean up our lives.

42. Let us take care of our lives in everything, let us have no "passport to sin", you cannot help but add new offense to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
