He (God) is also wise

"He (God) is also wise" – 2 Samuel 3:39 We can see that David should have "fulfilled" his "obligation" and trusted God about the consequences. David says, "Let the LORD repay him that doeth evil according to his iniquity." David was now in a weak position, and his kingdom was still like a tender plant; A little jolt would have been enough to knock him down.

I. It was easy for David to let Jehovah pay Joab.

A. Joab's family was very close to David's cause.

1. He was a close relative of the king; They were brave and daring, and to antagonize them at this juncture could have fatal consequences.

2. David, therefore, is content, "as a "private person," with leaving them in the hands of divine justice.

3. David says, "Let the LORD repay him that doeth evil, according to his iniquity."

4. But this is discredited: (4) Of the greatness of David. (B) And of the goodness of David.

5. He had to have fulfilled his obligation and trusted God about the consequences.

6. As the Latin proverb goes: Fiat justitia ruat caelum = "Let justice be done, though the firmament sinks."

7. If the law had been fulfilled at the head of Joab, perhaps the murder of Ishbosheth, Amnon's murder, or others, would have been prevented.

8. Sparing Joab's life was carnal politics and cruel compassion.

9. (Psalm 34:16) Jehovah's wrath against those who do wrong.

10. We are commanded not to cease from doing evil, but to do good.

11. It will be a very poor plea in the end to say, "Lord, I refrained from staining myself in grave sins: I did not steal.

12. But what good is there in you?

13. It is not enough that the servant of the vineyard does no harm in it, that he does not destroy trees or hedges (tree line, as railings); If he doesn't work in the vineyard, he loses his day.

14. (Psalm 37:9) For the evildoers will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the earth.

15. By some sudden scourge of divine justice amid his prosperity.

16. (Psalm 94:16) Where are our Pauls, Timothies?

17. A false charity (one who works selflessly on behalf of one's neighbor) has "weakened" the brave men of Israel.

18. Our great consolation is that the God of Paul and Timothy is still with us.

19. (Psalm 119:115) Depart from me, you workers of iniquity.

20. Don't talk any more, don't bother me, I'm resolved in my decision.

21. I have made up my mind, firmly resolved to "keep the commandments" of my God, with God's help.

22. I stand firm in this position and the whole world "cannot tear me" from it.

24. Give a divorce letter to bad companies.

30. (15) How could a star of such magnitude turn into a piece of putrefying clay?

31. This chosen people, by God comes destruction.

32. He who took a position of pride and ambition was dethroned and ruined.

33. (Isaiah 31:2) But He (God) is also wise.

34. Not only is He wise, wiser than His enemies, however powerful they may be, but He is also infinitely powerful (2:3), for every enemy (Egyptians) is man, mortal creatures; and his strength (horses, flesh) weak as all flesh, while "the Lord is God," "infinite and eternal," and "Spirit." Amen.
