Pleasing Him Who Chose Us as a Soldier – 2 Timothy 2:1-13 Putting on our clothes, that character, changing our attitude, we have known the Lord; we were sinners, now we are the children of God. Our way of acting, thinking and preaching what Jesus already established and recorded in the Word. The coming of the Holy Spirit creates a change in the people "clothed" to become God's representatives. That we may all be one in Jesus the Messiah.

I. Strive in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

A. Put on power in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

1. Be courageous with the power His grace provides.

2. We are to be faithful for the Lord without deserving such ability that comes from being united to Him.

3. It was Timothy's duty to provide for the spiritual strengthening of others.

4. To teach the known that he had learned from Paul.

5. Paul was about to disappear from the scene and had faithfully taught Timothy in the presence of many witnesses.

6. Timothy's time of service could be brief as well, and he, too, was to "order" his ministry in such a way that others were separated.

7. If each one takes the truth on his side, many will be able to encounter God's Word and be saved.

8. But the sad thing is that there is much wickedness, and there are many obstacles.

9. (2) Timothy is to entrust the truth to "faithful" men who believe and are trustworthy, so that they can teach others.

10. Beware Timothy of the competition!

11. (3) Timothy is described by Paul: (1) son, (3) soldier; (5) athlete; (6) hard-working farmer;

(15) laborer; servant (24). As a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

12. A good soldier of Jesus Christ; Timothy should sustain "sufferings" and "hardships" (suffering, sustain, anguish, misfortune, setback, punishment, misery), just like Paul.

13. (4) Some soldier in such critical circumstances that he becomes entangled in the business of life.

14. A soldier must not allow the ordinary things of life to become the main object of his existence.

15. The main position should be Christ, not everything else that can surround you as if we didn't have them.

16. Everything else should be left in the background.

17. An active soldier is kept ready to take orders from the headquarters.

18. His desire is "to please the one who took him for a soldier."

19. We have been enlisted by the Lord, and our love for Him should lead us to "take lightly the things of this world," regarding them as if we had none. Amen.
