Do in your Youth and You Will See in Old Age - Ecclesiastes 11:9; 12:1-8 These verses are when ignorance (lack of knowledge) wants to speak with wisdom or ability. At the beginning of Solomon's wise words. Perhaps it is the way to clarify what it is to be an adolescent (infant before reaching adulthood = stage after childhood until the full development of the organism is known as adolescence), in these verses Solomon wants to take what is the reality of life, to what is the spending of the body, unto death.

I. Rejoice, young man in your youth.

A. But keep all of them in mind, God will judge you.

1. God gives life so that we may know how to bring it with fear and wisdom through the midst of all to God, who makes a just judgment to arrive at the reward that leads to gain, according to how you have lived; good or bad.

2. Solomon urges him (quickly) to consider that it is God's final judgment on all his actions, so the young man has enough to know which way to go.

3. (Ecclesiastes 11:10) Bring out your heart of anger, there you accumulate hatred, rebellion, revenge; your flesh is evil, shameful pleasures, that which is in darkness and solitude.

4. (Ecclesiastes 12:1) He counsels young people to practice from an early age the true search with God.

5. His exercises of piety (compassion) for old age, when all is trouble and difficulty.

6. Your Creator, you must remember in your youth (Ecclesiastes 12:1), when evil days come: I have no contentment with them.

7. "It's like saying: do it soon, right away, before sickness and death come.

8. If not, how can we expect God to help us when we are old, if we do not serve Him while we are young?

9. Young people must remember their Creator before the twilight of life.

10. (2) Old age is the time when the lights dim, both physically and emotionally.

11. The days are heavy, and the nights are long.

12. Depression and sadness set in.

13. Youth is the time when we must remember the Creator, because it is then that the sun, moon, and stars have not yet darkened, and the clouds do not return after the rain.

14. (Youth) Even in previous years there was a certain amount of rain, that is, problems and discouragement.

15. But the sun would rise again, and the spirit would soon be revived.

16. Now it seems that sunny days are behind us forever.

17. After each discharge of rain, the clouds appear promising more.

18. (3) Now the body of the aged man is presented to us in the form of a "house."

19. "The guardians of the house" are the arms and hands, once strong and active, now risky, twisted and trembling, suffering from some diseases, which make everything tremble; Some laugh, others feel sorry for them, the older percentage can't even realize it, out of pride, arrogance and think they are still young.

20. "Strong men" are the legs and thighs, which are no longer straight and athletic, but arched as if they were parentheses ( ), bending under the weight of the body.

21. "The molars will cease because they have diminished," these are the teeth that can no longer chew because there are too few upper teeth, and they cannot meet the remaining lower teeth.

22. "Those who look out of the windows will be darkened."

23. The eyes have gone from bad to worse.

24. First, they needed bifocals, then trifocals and then cataract surgery.

25. (4) Street doors will be closed.

26. This of course refers to the ears.

27. Everything must be repeated two or three times.

28. High-pitched sounds like "tooth noise" are low and indistinct (indistinguishable from anything else).

29. The old man suffers from insomnia, rises early and wide awake, when the first bird begins to chirp and the rooster to crow.

30. "All the daughters of song will be cast down."

31. The vocal cords are severely damaged.

32. The voice is hoarse and uncertain and there is no room for songs.

33. (5) "They will fear what is high."

34. It is feared of the heights, stairs, panoramas from tall buildings or air travel.

35. And there are "terrors along the way."

36. They have lost all self-confidence and are afraid to go out alone or go out at night.

37. The almond tree in bloom is a figure of white hair, first in rich profusion (abundance or quantity of something) and then falling out.

38. "The grasshopper will be a burden."

39. Lighter targets will be too heavy for the old man.

40. Crawling a bit hunched over and deformed, moving forward in clumsy movements.

41. You will lose your appetite.

42. The sense of natural desires diminishes until it vanishes.

43. Food no longer tastes or appeals, and the other basic instincts are going to wane.

44. For man goes to his eternal abode.

45. This degenerative process takes place because man goes to his eternal abode of death and grave and will soon be in the place where he will be imprisoned by a great eternal flame and punishment forever. Or a dwelling place with God and all led to gain in God.

46. (6) "Remember thy Creator," (1) (is told for the young man this day) before the silver chain breaks and the golden bowl is broken, and the jar breaks by the fountain, and the wheel is broken over the well.

47. The breaking of the silver chain probably refers to the breaking of the delicate thread of life when the spirit leaves the body.

48. The golden bowl is usually understood as the cranial cavity (void) and the one that breaks is a poetic figure of the cessation of the mind at the moment of death.

49. The pitcher breaks next to the fountain and rolls over the well.

50. A reference to the circulatory system with the collapse of systolic blood pressure (the heart contracts and pushes blood out), diastolic blood pressure (pressure that occurs when the heart relaxes and fills with blood).

51. (7) The severity of death is established.

52. Then the body begins its return to dust, while the "spirit returns to God who gave it."

53. Everything is vanity on this earth, except God and God's. Amen.
