"Clinging To Ignorance Than Knowing the Truth" - Matthew 13:53-58 You know what's the sad thing about how life is lived: for passions, pride, pretending, sowing weeds (a mother who sows tares: Look, your brother doesn't love your children, and that's when she put the whole family to fight. I. God esteemed so much that He gave His own only Son to death on a cross, to rescue her from the abyss of perdition.

A. Hitherto Christ had compared the kingdom of heaven to small things (seed, mustard seed, leaven), but now He compares it to two things of great value (treasure, pearl) (Matthew 13:44-45).

1. The hidden treasure is the blessing of serving Christ and being a subject (subject to authority) of the kingdom of heaven.

2. This treasure is hidden from the eyes of the flesh, but "those whose spiritual eyes have been enlightened by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:18) see the treasure (John 3:3) and 'hasten' (hurry, hasten) to acquire it.

3. It is not hidden in an "enclosed" orchard, but in a field.

4. There is this gold mine, anyone who wants to can "get to it and take advantage of it" (and you, you do it?), as long as he goes on the right path" and uses the right method."

5. It is a great thing to discover this treasure and the immense value it holds.

6. For the unconverted, the Word is just another book.

7. But those who come to Scripture with the right dispositions "find in it an inexhaustible treasure: Christ and eternal life." (John 5:39)

8. "Those who discern well the value of this treasure do not stop until they have obtained it."

9. Filled with joy, they pay any price to have it: Did you?

10. Compared to Him, everything else is worthless.

11. (Philippians 3:7-8) Paul says, "But whatever was to my profit, I have counted as loss for Christ's sake... for whose sake I have lost everything and count it as rubbish, in order to gain Christ.

12. No wonder the great Apostle ran "like an" Olympic champion to get the best mark (1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Philippians 3:13-14).

13. (Matthew 6:19-20) And is it not greater folly to pass up opportunities to gather (provision, store) "that treasure which is stored up in Heaven?

14. In heaven no one can rob you of that storehouse of the treasure you have made for heaven, good works, your seeking with the Lord, that growth, the fruits, all that is of heaven, the spiritual.

15. (Matthew 13:53) Jesus returns to His own.

16. He had (John 1:11) a special affection, divine and human, for His own country.

17. The treatment He now received was like the previous one.

18. As they expressed their contempt for Him: He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were amazed (surprised, shocked, astonished) that He should dare to teach in public.

19. Their lack of education; Where does He get this wisdom and these miracles? a.) judgment, insightful, distinguishing, understanding.

20. They knew that He was wise to teach and powerful to work miracles.

21. Like vile people, full of zeal and prejudice, they are always ready to judge others, not by their wisdom, but by their academic degrees, not by their reasons, but by their rank and social position.

22. (Matthew 13:55-56) The low social status of His kin.

23. They reproach Him for His legal father's trade: is He not the carpenter's son?

24. This carpenter was of "the house of David (Luke 1:27)," "son of David" (3:32), although a carpenter was of noble lineage.

25. Those sordid (unclean, impure) spirits had no regard for the family branch or root, not even for the rod of Jesse's trunk (Isaiah 11:1).

26. They also reproached Him for His mother's modest condition: "Isn't His mother called Mary?"

27. Yes, it is true that it was a fairly common name, and everyone knew that she was a modest and humble woman (Luke 1:48) but this was no disgrace, for human beings are not measured by their splendid titles, nor by their exterior, but by the sanctity of their life and the nobility of their character.

28. They also reproached Him for the condition of His brothers, whose names they knew well and because of their modest condition, they despised them, and Jesus also because He had such relatives: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas, they knew them.

29. And they were scandalized (disgusted, annoyed, astonished, indignant, inflamed with anger) at Him, when they should have appreciated Him more and been proud of Him because He was their countryman (of the same country) and possessed such qualities. Amen.
