Courage from on High

"Courage from on High" – Acts 5:29 The high priest asked, saying: (Acts 5:27, 28) Did we not strictly command you not to teach in that name? Now Jerusalem is full of your doctrine, and now we are guilty of that man's blood. Now, with "courage from on high," they insisted that their obligation was to "obey God rather than men."

I. Obey God "rather" than men.

A. Man always seeks to be the one who wants to direct his own existence.

1. Directing one's own life is what one wants, but what happens will be under one's goals and ambitions: pride, goals, ignorance and the most likely away from what God wants for one's life.

2. Notice by obedience Noah was saved, not only himself but his own and gave us his great teaching to obey.

3. Even if it took him so many years, mockery, contempt, rejection, and without any hope that anyone from that crowd would be saved, "by obeying."

4. With such courage, appreciation, esteem, affection, consideration on high, where the Creator dwells.

5. Already out of conviction, (conviction, reasons or beliefs that allow us to sustain a certain thought) the disciples obey God above all their will, their ambitions, their thoughts and even the "not" understood, of course I am not talking about Judas who betrayed him.

6. (Deuteronomy 26:16, 19) For the people had declared that they would walk in the ways of the Lord.

7. Instead, He recognized them as "His special people" and promised to exalt them "above all nations," and so it has been to this day.

8. They were a "holy people" because God had "set them apart" from all the "nations".

9. It was a distinct nation, different from the others, being a particular treasure of Jehovah.

10. The answer "to such an honor" should be obedience to all His "commandments"; because you recognize that one is not capable of acting in justice.

11. (1 Samuel 1:22) This verse is said to be one of the classics of God's Word.

12. Obedience is to be "first, last, and ever."

13. It is the password for those who want to serve and please the Lord.

14. (Erdmann) In the following words: "Obedience is better than sacrifices," thought follows a new path: apart from what is good pleasing to God, simply a mental disposition to obey is in itself a good thing. "The offering" without such a disposition is not a good thing; it has moral value... So too disobedience and the resulting rebellion and the insolent (disrespectful, brazen, daring) self-confidence are similar in essence to the iniquity (injustice) of sorcery. It remains on the same moral level, that is, "it is like divination in the service of demonic powers and idolatry against God.

15. Disobedience is clear and precise, its results are rebellion, very much to come, what is more, it is present in disobedience; rebellion = rebelling, resistance, rejecting authority.

16. It goes to disobedience to the most dangerous, a crime is the opposite of what is established by law.

17. For punishment is even reached like David, in his disobedience to God.

18. (Matthew 7:21) "I never knew you."

19. Does the Lord know us?

20. If so, He lets Himself be seen in you and you can see Him in you.

21. The Lord Jesus then warns "against those who falsely profess to acknowledge Him as Savior, but who have never been converted.

22. "Not all" who call Jesus "Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven."

23. "Only" those who do "the will" of God will enter the kingdom.

a. Resultant, the resultant-result of disobedience is rebellion, rebelling, resistance.

24. The first step in doing God's will is to "believe in the Lord Jesus." (John 6:29)

25. Jesus said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." Amen
