Righteousness and Holiness of Truth

"Righteousness and Holiness of Truth" – Ephesians 4:22 The reason it becomes difficult to grow spiritually is that we do not put off (remove from the old) the old man. When you were converted, we put off our old self, who is corrupted according to deceitful desires. Old man you were before conversion, all that you were as a son of Adam.

I. It is vitiated according to deceitful desires.

A. The "desire", impulse leads us to become entangled in our ancient wickedness.

1. The believer's old self was crucified and buried with Christ; And then what are we; old or new?

2. You must be dead (it is the practice), reason is a new creature.

3. (23) "Be renewed in the spirit of your mind."

4. This tells us that there is a total shift in your thinking, to a shift from mental "impurity" (tainted) to holiness.

5. The Spirit of God influences the mental processes to reason to God, not the unconverted.

6. (24) That they had put on "once and for all" the new self.

7. The new man is what the believer is in Christ.

8. It is the new creation in which old things have passed away, all things have been made new (it says: 2 Corinthians 5:17)

9. This "new" type of "man" is "in the likeness of God," that is, "created" in conformity (harmony, approval, agreement) to Him.

10. And it is manifested "in the righteousness" and "holiness" of truth.

11. Justice=here is righteousness and means "righteous conduct toward others."

12. "Holiness" (consecration = having the life of Christ is "godliness (devotion, for the love one feels toward God)," which gives it its "rightful" place.

13. (25) Paul now turns from the believer's position to his state.

14. Because they have put off the old man and "put on the new" by their union with Christ, they should demonstrate this shocking change in their daily lives.

15. The first thing they do, "reject the lie" and dressing themselves (... about what you have) of truthfulness (true).

16. Lying here includes all forms of insincerity, whether it is manipulating the truth or exaggerating, cheating on exams, ensnare, failing to keep promises, betraying the trust placed in them.

17. The voice must be totally reliable.

18. Your yes should mean yes, and your no, no.

19. Truth is a debt we owe to all men.

20. Our neighbor is the brother of faith.

21. This is clear from the reason given, because we are members of one another.

22. It is as unthinkable for one Christian to lie to another as it would be for a nerve in the body to deliberately send a false message to the brain, or for the eye to deliberately deceive the rest of the body when danger is approaching.

23. (26) A second area of practical renewal in our lives relates to sinful "anger" and "rage."

24. There are times when a believer may be justly angry, for example, "when the character of God is contradicted."

25. In such cases, anger is commanded: In your anger do not sin.

26. Anger against evil can be just.

27. But there are other times when anger is sinful.

28. When it comes to "malicious emotion", "jealousy", "resentments", "desires for revenge" and "hatred" due to personal wrongs, it is forbidden.

29. Aristotle said: "Anyone can be angry (irritated); That is easy, but to get angry with the right person, to the right degree, on the right occasion, for a right purpose and in a right way, that is "not" easy.

30. If a believer gives way to unrighteous anger, he should confess it and leave it right away.

31. Confession should be made both to God and to the one who has suffered for our wrath.

32. We should not harbor grudges, nest resentments, or maintain irritations ("take someone the devil", make someone feel anger).

33. "Let not the sun set on our anger."

34. Everything that breaks communion with God or with our brothers and sisters should be immediately rectified (corrected and brought to its ideal state). Amen.
