Our actions must be urgent

"Our actions must be urgent" - Esther 4:1-4 Mordecai and Esther begin to act (act, proceed,) acts (exercise their own nature, show themselves, work) to nullify the effects of the royal decree. Esther receives the news after asking Mordecai for information and Mordecai urges (his execution to be urgent) his cousin (his uncle's daughter) to intercede with the king, to revoke (annul a mandate, revoke) the king's edict (order).

I. Against Mordecai's people there is a cruel publication.

A. The mandate is achieved by Haman, because of his hatred of God's people.

1. We must fight for God, there was Mordecai.

2. A great man of passion, dedication, strength and prompt spirit.

3. He took a posture of pain, his pain led him to lament with great clamor, his "sackcloth" and "covered with ashes", as he went through the city like this.

4. In this way he was not ashamed to be a Jew, called to share the sufferings of his countrymen.

5. A sign of nobility (integrity, honesty) to thus take the side of a just cause, "the cause of God," "at a time when that cause seemed to be sinking."

6. He knew that Haman's hatred was directed primarily towards him and that, because of him, the blow was falling on the rest of the people.

7. Because of his love for the people, he was very sorry that, because of his scruples, (doubts disturbing to the conscience as to whether something is good or should be done in another way) that the entire Jewish population should suffer so terribly.

8. But by being able to appeal to God in support of his attitude, that his refusal to pay homage to Haman (What is your Haman?) "It was due to principles of conscience that he could console him with the thought of entrusting to God his cause and that of his countrymen.

9. At one time your attitude of bearing the great torment, for example, Mordecai's was "not" to let Haman destroy the Jewish people, because he did not bow down before him, because that caused him a great burden.

10. To pay homage to Haman was due to principles of conscience "he could" console himself with the thought of commending to God his cause and that of his countrymen."

11. (2) With sackcloth "it was not lawful to pass into the king's gate in sackcloth."

12. The king did not want to have mourners near him (so there are many ears), only what could bring the cheerful and pleasant into the court.

13. The earth is full of kings, who never want to face justice and hide on their great thrones while unjustly liquidating others; cowardly (lack of courage, fear to face danger, risk, another excess of prudence does not perish).

14. That forced Mordecai to keep his distance and stop at the king's gate.

15. (3) In every province and place where the king's commandment and decree came, there was great mourning, fasting, weeping and lamentation, sackcloth (rough garments) and ashes was the bed of many.

16. It is unfortunate that everyone joins Haman to destroy what is God, what frightens is chosen.

17. It is given to the one who destroys the work, to be silent and no one, no one dares to confront it.

18. Today you are here, and you do not do what you should do, so Haman comes and cuts off the head of the righteous; They are mocked, they take advantage of them with foul words, they cheat skillfully, they do things in front of their children and say nothing, they embezzle them, and they do not shout.

19. (4) Queen Esther was in great pain and sent to inquire what was the matter, since Mordecai refused to take off his sackcloth, for he could not be comforted.

20. Esther sent a servant with some garments to clothe Mordecai so that he would not be clothed in sackcloth in the king's sight "and lose his life."

21. But Mordecai refused to disguise his anguish.

22. The anguish (affliction, restlessness) is faced, it is not run away, nor does one hide, it is head-on that the anguish is carried. Amen
