Love for the House of God

"Love for the House of God" - Psalm 102:19 As they await the time of this restoration, the people of Israel hold the "stones" of Zion as precious and have compassion on the dust of it. This can be seen, for example, in their deep respect for the Western Wall, which was formerly called the Western Wall of Lamentations, and their tremendous sentimental affection for the old city of Jerusalem. When Zion welcomes its King, then the Gentile nations will fear Jehovah's name and all the kings of the earth will pay homage to Him.

I. Your servants love their stones.

A. Today they do not forget Zion, the exiles are constantly thinking about its reconstruction.

1. The ruins and the very dust of desolation (destroying, provoking sadness or anguish) (destroyed or ruined) far from discouraging the good lovers of their country, caused them to desire with greater ardor to see it rebuild again as beautiful as before.

2. The effect of the rebuilding of Jerusalem on the whole world will be tremendous, bringing glory and honor to the God of the Jews.

3. (1 Chronicles 29:2) "I have prepared with all my strength for the house of my God."

4. He had given to the house of God, because he had set his heart on the house of God.

5. Filling our hands with God's service implies that we are to "serve Him alone," with all generosity and with all the strength that the grace received from Him lends us.

6. (Psalm 23:6) A "disbeliever" may drop into the house of God and say a prayer, but the prophet lives in it permanently; his soul is always before the throne of grace, asking for more grace.

7. David sees himself not just as a guest for a day, but as a member of it, of God's covenant forever and ever, no one is separated from such a sublime covenant.

8. "They will follow me all the days of my life," because the one God loves, He loves to the end and to the extreme.

9. The house of Jehovah commonly means the sanctuary.

10. (Psalm 26:8) "I have in my congregation," said a venerable minister of the gospel; "An elderly lady who for many years has been deaf, but she is always one of the first to sit down at the time of the meeting."

11. When asked the reason for her constant attendance, even though she could not hear the sermon, she replied, "Though I cannot hear, I come to the house of God because I want to, and I want to be found in His ways; and God gives me sweet thoughts on the text when it is directed to me; another reason is that I am among the greatest company here, in the most immediate presence of God and among His saints, the worthy of the earth" (integrity, honest, noble, decent).

12. "I am not satisfied to serve God in private; My duty and privilege is to honor Him regularly in public."

13. What a rebuke to those who can hear here today, if they come and do not come out of time (late) to the place of worship, if they come!

14. (Psalm 27:4) The psalmist desires nothing more than to be "in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life."

15. The priests had their residence in the courts of the temple, and there David had desired to have his usual dwelling place as well.

16. There's something unconquerable about people who are looking for just one thing.

17. They know what they want and are determined to get it.

18. Nothing can prevent it.

19. All good children of God desire to serve in their Father's house, where else should they live?

20. Do we think that praising God will be the blessing of our eternity?

21. Then we should surely make it the primary occupation of our earthly life.

22. David's desire was to live in the house of Jehovah to behold the beauty of Jehovah and to inquire (find out, investigate) in His temple.

23. The loving, the beautiful, the delightful of God in His holiness.

24. The harmony of all divine perfections is the beauty of His nature.

25. (Psalm 84:10) "One day in His courts is better than a thousand in another place."

26. "For better is one day in Thy courts, attending religious services, far from everything, than a thousand outside of them."

27. I would rather choose to stand at the door of the house of my God, to exercise the lowest office of the Levites.

28. (Psalm 122:1) "I rejoiced when they said to me, 'To the house of the Lord we will go.'"

29. Good children are happy to go home and to hear.

30. You are on your way, and you meet a brother and he says: "We will go to the house of Jehovah." Amen
