His Mighty Right Hand

"His Mighty Right Hand" - Isaiah 41:10-11 This verse is to quiet fears and encourage the faith of God's servants in their afflictions. All who faithfully serve God will cherish hope through the patience and comfort of this Scripture. It is against God's intent for His people to be a fearful people. They must depend on His presence among them as their God.

I. "Do not be afraid, for I am with you." (10)

A. I am your God who strives you (impulse, helps).

1. He assures them of His presence, relationship, help, and power sustained by what must be (10) one of the most beautiful verses in Isaiah.

2. (11) Their enemies will perish and disappear. God is their help and their Redeemer (free from suffering, punishment, rescue).

3. What can be feared by going hand in hand with God?

4. (13) They have (we must) depend on His presence among them as their God.

5. Even if their enemies now appear fearsome, the day will come when God calls them to account.

6. There are those who are angry with God's people and contend with them and make war on them, because they hate them.

7. "I, Jehovah, am your God, who holds you by your right hand and says to you, 'Do not be afraid, I will help you.'"

8. (Psalm 18:35-36) "You gave me also the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand sustained me (every resource necessary to maintain subsistence).

9. His right hand has kept me on a fighting footing, with strength and power to win.

10. Above all, we are to take up the shield of faith because nothing else can quench Satan's fiery darts.

11. Your kindness (tenderness, compassion, good in its essence) has made me great.

12. In a sense He becomes dwarfed as He approaches us, as if exercising humility.

13. It is God, making Himself small, who is the cause of our being magnified.

14. We are so little, that if God were to manifest Himself in His greatness without condescension, we would be crushed.

15. (Psalm 16:8-11) "I have always set the Lord before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be moved."

16. To have your faith and hope continually built up and firmly grounded in Christ and to have your heart and mind fixed and established on Him; to go on through thick and thin, by fire and water, into war and in peace, in hunger and in cold, between friend and foe, through a thousand dangers and risks, in the face of the burdens of envy, malice (wickedness, mischief, dissimulation, perversity), hatred, slander, threats, insults, contempt, the flesh, the devil and even in death itself, however cruel, bitter and tyrannical it may be, without ever losing sight of Christ, without yielding faith, hope and trust in Him. 17. (11) "You will bring me to the resurrection through the dark valley of death."

18. Our blessed Lord has complete confidence that God will show Him the path of life, the path back from death to life.

19. Finally, this path will lead Him back to heaven, to the presence of God.

20. After a long battle, there He would experience fullness of joy and eternal delights. Hallelujah!

21. (Mark 16:19) "Forty days after His resurrection, our Lord Jesus Christ was received into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God."

22. This is the position of honor and power.

23. (Psalm 44:3) "But Thy right hand, Thy arm, and the light of Thy face."

24. The history of His people was full of incidents of great encouragement to the soul, when God intervened on their behalf.

25. He had given His people the land of Canaan and brought forth the pagan nations.

26. He had set His nation free in a country of their own.

27. They certainly did not take possession of the beautiful land because of their military superiority, nor by their own strength were they victorious.

28. It was by the mighty right hand of God, by His omnipotent arm, and by the favor of His love that He showed them.

29. (Hebrews 12:2) Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the greatest provider.

30. He is the author or pioneer of our faith, in the sense that He has provided us with the only perfect example of what life of faith is like.

31. He, likewise, is the finisher of faith (accomplishes something wholly).

32. Not only did He start the race, but He finished it victorious.

33. For Him the race went from heaven to Bethlehem and then to Gethsemane and Calvary, then to the tomb and back to heaven.

34. At no time did He hesitate or look back.

35. He kept His gaze fixed on the glory to come, when all the redeemed (freed from sin, Jesus) would be eternally reunited with Him.

36. This made it possible for Him to despise reproach (shame) and endure suffering and death.

37. Today He is seated at the right hand of God's throne. Amen
