"Something That Another Possesses" - Psalm 106:16 Who can hope to escape envy, when the meekest of men was the object of it? How unreasonable it was to envy Moses, the hardest working man in the entire camp and "the one who bore the most burden! They should have sympathized (understood, comprehended) with him; to envy him was something nefarious (infamous, abhorrent). C.H.S.

I. In envy there is no good.

A. Nothing done out of envy will have a good result for the kingdom of the pure God.

1. When there is envy, it is a state of mind in which there is pain or misery for not possessing what the other has.

2. The pain at the sight of another's good fortune, brought on by "those who have what we should have."

3. "Envy is one of the most potent causes of unhappiness."

4. When there is no envy, everything is done with love, without interest.

5. There is nothing to be desired in anyone but to have a service of washing the feet of others and that is why we work as Moses did, it was service, service and service out of love and dedication, without looking at whom.

6. (Psalm 37:1) And the godly man, though in misery, need not envy the wicked man in the brightness (glow, glitter) of his prosperity and well-being.

7. (Proverbs 3:31) We are not to envy the prosperity of evildoers, nor yield to the temptation to imitate them.

8. To show how little reason the saints have to envy sinners, Solomon compares; Apparently the unjust can achieve instant success, but we are not to envy his prosperity, nor are we to follow his ways.

9. Jehovah abhors (condemns), hates and despises "the wicked" (malignant, evil) but draws the righteous to His most "intimate fellowship".

10. (Proverbs 14:30) A quiet heart is a companion of a satisfied mind.

11. "Peace of mind is bodily health." (physical).

12. Envy and passion are bad for health: hatred, resentment, not being able to sleep, anxiety, anger, abhorrence, contempt, etc.

13. Nervous diseases.

14. (Proverbs 23:17) Do not envy sinners but persevere in the fear of Jehovah all the time.

15. There is something far better than coveting (envying) prosperity, and that is "living in continual fellowship with Jehovah."

16. Engaging with the wicked brings discouragement (envy); Engaging in the Lord brings delight.

17. (Proverbs 24:1) It is not wise to envy the prosperity "of the wicked," nor to desire their company.

18. They always succeed in dragging others into their own condition.

19. What is this condition?

20. His mind is always scheming violence and theft, and his envy leads to his conversation, he focuses on iniquity (evil).

21. (1 Corinthians 13:4) Someone has said: "This did not begin as a treatise on love, but like most of the literary pearls of the New Testament, it was introduced in connection with some local situation.

22. Hodge (an American theologian) has observed that the Corinthians were impatient, discontented, envious, puffed up, selfish, unseemly (indecent), indifferent to the feelings of others, suspicious (distrustful, ill-conceived), spiteful, and critical; that was the picture before him.

23. Thus, the apostle now presents, in contrast, the traits of true love.

24. First of all, love is patient, it is helpful.

25. Love is not envious of others but is pleased that they receive honor and good wishes (congratulations).

26. (Galatians 5:26) Attitudes to avoid.

27. Let us have self-control, let us not become boastful, irritating one another, "envying" one another.

28. Submissive to the will of God, who accepts teaching and discipline.

29. It is that term between excessive anger and lack of anger: that is, the quality of the person who is indignant when he should be indignant and never when he should not.

30. It is the spirit that has dominated their desires and pleasure-seeking (Galatians 5:26). Love your neighbor as yourself.

31. It uses the virtue of an emperor who never lets his "private interests" exert influence on the government of his people.

32. It is the virtue (capacity, power, intelligence) of the person that "makes him so much master of himself" that enables him to serve others.

33. Thus, you will never become vainglory, anger, and you will never become envious of everyone around you.

34. Envy takes you because you are proud, you are better when you see that there are many meek people around you, you get that anger that is uncontrollable, love is not known by your mind and it takes pride because your mind screams that you are better, you deserve it, but anger is the absence of love, and when there is no love comes an envy that cannot be hidden, it is an act, then something said, then fury, anger, insanity or in passing delusions, agitation.
