Learn how to honor

Week of May 11 to 17, 2004

THEME: Learn how to honor 1 Peter 2:17 To honor = means to value, to love and understand that humans are important. “Have proper respect for everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the King.” This is the greatest thing to do. To fear is to be afraid, to reverence. It’s being fearful of what is more or higher than you. God is the Highest. It is to Him who we shall fear in all our life. When we are fearful, we watch our every step, as a son respects his father and asks for permission. The world has lost being fearful and honoring others. Today there is no respect towards others. Fearing God is respecting. Does respect exist in these days? It means to reverence. We should have reverence when we are in the house of the Lord. Be fearful, afraid, a word that seems not to exist in these days. This world should learn how to fear God and we should start fearing God. God invades us with all His glory, and His presence. To fear God is to be delivered and have God’s favor from dangers that come from this world. Let us be fearful of the highest God, for this will deliver us from sin. Because our heart can only be examined by God. This is why we humble ourselves before Him. No sin has good intentions; it only brings destruction, and a river of consequences. But fearing God will deliver us and will not allow sin and its consequences to destroy us. Arrogance is something that destroys men. The shattering of those who know not to honor, comes from arrogance. The more we fear, the more communion we will have with God. In this way we will wait upon God and trust in Him who has called us. Since our childhood fearing God keeps us away from being afraid. Let us teach our children how to fear God. When we fear God, we watch what we speak, what we think and we live constantly in repentance. Ecclesiastes 12:13. Fearing God leads us to keep His commandments. When we give honor, we value. Salomon said: “to fear God is the whole duty of man.” Material things are not important but fearing God is everything. A person who does not fear God does not have Him in his life. Jehovah delivers us from evil if we are fearful. In this world we propose and achieve many things; but are those things the whole duty of men? No! Many believe that by being clever they can deceive others. But remember that not everything comes out right. When the righteous fears God, God will lead us to do His will. In this way a fearful heart person will reach his future. 1 Peter 1:17 – Calling on God’s name is serious. We have to live fearing God. “Live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.” The fearful must be known by God, the angel and the demons. He who dares to call on the name of God, also knows that God judges. Behave with reverent fear if you invoke God’s name knowing how you walk, for He will judge with justice and

righteousness. God weighs the work of our hands. God is in a higher place and is watching over every one of us. Be fearful for God knows how to judge our work. The problem is that as we walk, we start losing fear, and this could mean losing eternal life, losing the blessings. It means to lose the presence of God and not have Him face to face. When a person loses fear of God, they know when and where they lost it. Praying is a necessity for us. Lack of prayer is to leave God out. It is sad to leave God because it hardens the heart. Take care of yourself, beloved and persevere in love and in fear of God who loves you. There are many promises for those who fear God. Psalms 31:19. God will keep everything in a silver tray for those that fear Him. There is kindness in our God, of good quality for those who fear Jehovah. I do not gather from no one; but it is God who brings with kindness the best into my life. God will incline for those who fear Him. What God has in store for me will be revealed before men in this world. With God we don’t lose, no shame comes to those who fear Him. Luke 1:50. His mercy is from generation to generation for those who fear. My children and grandchildren will be favored with His mercy. My family will be blessed too. If this fear lives in you, you will be able to pass it on from generation to generation. He who is fearful will see many years of God’s goodness. Losing does not cause laughter or happiness. But fighting is not for cowards but for the brave. Let us be fearful and see many good days. AMEN.
