I Have Known the Truth and I Cannot Lose the Doctrine

BIBLE STUDY # 519 FROM NOV. 27 –DEC. 3, 2007

Theme: “I Have Known the Truth and I Cannot Lose the Doctrine” 2 John 1 Those who have conviction are good leaders. Our convictions change our destiny, so, we have to be very careful! We can be very effective wherever we move depending on how much conviction we have. John writes to let know what a believer feels. The people needed to know when it was enough and what to be careful of. We should always live taking precautions. We must be careful not to become resentful because this keeps us away from this road. On many occasions when people are warned of the dangers, they become annoyed. Those who see evilness walk away from it, they don’t stay there. John warns them of the dangers that were approaching because he had lived so much and Jesus was his teacher. John, who knows every doctrine, spoke to this woman on how to behave in the gospel and not to let it disturb her. If we live ignoring what is wrong we will fall. God wants us to have knowledge of what is wrong. There is so much to learn. We have to know what it is that surrounds us and sieves us to deceive us. If we allow ourselves to become deceived it will only hurt us. We can have condemnation for the rest of our lives. This is why we must see what is written in the scriptures and live by it. Numbers 11:1 y 14:26, 27 Moses decides to release the people because God ordered him to do so. He could not be accused of doing any thing wrong except for doing God’s will. The people began to gossip against Moses and Jehovah heard it. Those who speak against God’s statutes become depravated. John knew of the dangers that those who rose against Jehovah’s commandments would be exposed to. In God’s House there are rules for everyone. We are a body; therefore we have to take all precautions so we won’t fall in a desert. That woman was honorable, excellent. Those who want to live in justice, in God’s will, are honorable and irrepressible. We are chosen by God to live in excellence, in honor. When Jesus arrived at our lives he brought wonderful things and our lives changed. The fruits speak for us. That old woman had to know that her home was the place for those preachers to dwell because she was a woman with great passion who John loved in the truth, and not only him but all those who knew her as an excellent and honorable person. She was loved by those who enjoyed speaking to her and spent time with her. Sometimes we are very willing to judge. We are the men and women that God wants us to be. That woman was known by the church because of her fidelity and hospitality with others, also her love and disposition. One loves when one has known the truth. One becomes a witness of that love, fidelity and a lot of work. She received the preachers and gave everything she had. The truth is protected. We have known the truth and we cannot neglect the doctrine because we will lose. John said to this woman who knew the truth: “be grace, mercy and peace”, and that’s the way it is with those who love God. John recognized that not all were well. John was delighted to know that some walked in the truth. Some had conserved themselves and if there is something we have to learn it is His law, to love one another. When we stop loving, we start to gossip. Let us love one another in the truth. We must watch ourselves from the false ones who come to steal everything that God has for us. When we no longer love gossip comes because hatred has overcome us. When we lack love many things happen in this life. Love will never cease to be, and will never be wasted. The opposite of love is hatred. John was interested in having this woman teach the doctrine, to show this excellent love to all because this was the only way. Love is the rudiment of obedience. Those who love do not like to cause annoyment or harm. We must watch out for the heretics who arise in the church. We cannot cooperate at all with the person who wants to teach wrongfully about the person of Jesus. Let us watch out for the seducers. We must remain in prayer so we will not lose the fruit of our work, the rewards from Heaven. Salvation can be for our whole life, but if we walk away for just one day we can lose it. What goes beyond the limits prescribed is very dangerous, because there is no perseverance in the doctrine and one does not remain in what is sacred. If we do not care for Christ’s teachings it is because God is not there. Perseverance in the doctrine is until death. We do not receive heretics as if they were teachers. Those who open the door to heretics never persevere. We should be very jealous. By giving those opportunities we become participant of their evil deeds and we let them deceive others. Let us love the truth and be faithful to love. Amen.
