I Will Watch To Always Be Filled With The Holy Spirit

Theme: “I Will Watch To Always Be Filled With The Holy Spirit” Acts 2: 37-42 Today, maintaining unity among the people of God is very difficult because everybody wants to implant their own style. There should not be particular styles, we should only be guided by the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit we are useful to reach the heart of people because the necessity is in their heart. When we have someone in front of us, we have to love that person to teach him the necessity he has and that we, the Christians, are the source to help them. That passion and love must be in us. It is not that we are going to fix anyone’s life, but that we are going to pierce their hearts with the love and the Word to produce repentance in them. We always have to see those to whom we speak as fragile persons because the One who works in people’s lives is the Holy Spirit. We are only an instrument to pierce their hearts with the Word. It is our responsibility to teach the Word. Christ comes to deliver them. Let’s love the people we have before us by looking after them till eternity. The effect produced in them when preaching begins from the beginning by the Holy Spirit. That is why we should worry about being filled with the Holy Spirit. Men lend us their ears, and we should be capacitated, full of the Holy Spirit and power so that the Word will lead them to the repentance that is required. Since the first sermon it was manifested that the disciples were accompanied by a divine power. If the Holy Spirit has descended in power, the message produces in them sharp pangs in their consciences. From there comes the repentance of sins. We know that it was also our fault that Jesus was crucified. Now they realized that Jesus, whom they had crucified, was the Son of God. They heard that Jesus was raised from the death and was glorified in Heaven. The Holy Spirit rebuked them of the great crime they had committed. The task of admonishing belongs to the Holy Spirit, to no one else; we are responsible of preaching the Word. My sin was responsible for the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. How could those guilty murderers escape judgment? They were willing to do anything in order to obtain the pardon for their sin. Then, they repented and later they were baptized. Repentance produces peace. To repent is to change our thoughts, since our previous thoughts were wrong. Repentance means that there is a change of mind, of attitude. If the person that has repented is honest and therefore has changed his or her mind, that will require then a proper change of action. His life will change, his acts will change. This is what a church seeks to produce with a lot of courage and love, repentance in people. We should not let evil accumulate, but provoke repentance in people. The last thing a person who repents wants is to fall again. And if this person falls, he or she must repent immediately; this should be done as soon as possible. We have to redeem the lost time to place ourselves in the right place because where there is sin one cannot function as God wants. There could be the case where someone changes his mind and knowing that his deeds should not be as he does them, he is so tied to them that he does not want to change. There is also the case where someone changes the way he acts, but the old mentality has not changed; he still has his erroneous thoughts. True repentance includes both things; it is a double change, a change of mind and a change of actions. Forgiveness is wonderful since it brings us peace and places us in a proper relationship with God. We have to always bear in mind that it does not eliminate the consequences of the bad deeds we have done. That is why we should always take care of ourselves. When there is forgiveness, the distance and the fear that used to invade us disappears and we find ourselves in peace with God again. When repentance comes, then one receives the gift of the Holy Spirit. Even though we have repented, we have to avoid sinning again. We can do that because a power that we did not have before comes upon our lives, which is the Holy Spirit. And with that power that comes from God we can win the battle that before we always lost. To conserve the Holy Spirit, we have to live in sanctity. The power of the Holy Spirit is what sustains us, without it we are incapable of conquering. We should know these doctrines and teach them wherever we go. To confront battles, we should be filled with the Holy Spirit. We have been called and capacitated for this great spiritual battle. The best proof that the Holy Spirit is among us is the conversion of the souls. With all certainty Peter’s ministry was of this kind. Just like Peter fulfilled his call, so do we with the power of the Holy Spirit that is given to us. Matthew 4:19 The promise for Peter was that he would be a fisher of men. We are fishers of men like him. That is the greatest challenge we can have, that the sinners repent. And for that to happen, the Holy Spirit with His power has to be with each one of us always. Let us fight to always be in communion and filled with the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 13:14 This way we will succeed. AMEN.
