Topic: “My Life Does Not Consist In The Abundance Of The Goods I Possess.” Luke 12:13-21 Jesus did not trust men because He knew what was in them. We should acknowledge and have communion with the Holy Spirit so that the Holy Spirit can do in us according to what we need. That man asked Jesus a question, according to his economic necessity, but Jesus responded to him according to his spiritual need. It seems as if we are only after the worldly things. Let us be wise and see what is in front of us depending on the importance and essence. If we live in communion with the Holy Spirit, we will see what is necessary to see. Let us understand and live always on the lookout to see where we should be. We should always be learning. We should listen to learn and acknowledge something most people don’t do. Jesus responds to us according to what is in our heart. The heart is evil and perverse. Jeremiah 17: 9 How little we like to learn! That is why we live exhausted, because of so many burdens. The more we learn, the more relaxed we will live and our soul will not be disturbed. When we learn from the Lord, we are not confused by anyone. That man asked a question to test Jesus, but Jesus made it clear that He did not come for trivial things but rather for something furthermore than our lives and to work profoundly where no one else can work but only one, God. God indeed knows what is inside us. Jesus refused completely to let Himself become involved in matters having to do with money. He did teach His followers matters concerning material things which are the biggest problem for people nowadays. Many people live too attached to the material things. Jesus began to work on the attitude of human beings towards everything that surrounds them. Jesus came for the salvation of mankind. He delivers all those who believe in Him as their Savior and repent from their sins. Jesus could see everything concerning materialism that was coming out of that man’s mouth. It is easy for men to be confused concerning the mission they have come to fulfill. We, as the church, should clearly know what our mission is in this world and how we ask the questions to Jesus that should be of considerable value. In life we should be precautious; we prepare to obtain a profession, and later a fortune, but that is not what impresses Jesus. Nevertheless, to possess and obtain riches and great material possessions is what fills us humans. This is the way it is, it is what we talk about. As the church we should be careful, because where business prevails is in the church. Jehovah blesses those who seek and follow Him. But it is covetousness that makes us desire excessively and there is evilness in all this, we must be careful. The lives of men do not consist in the abundance of the goods they possess. What we are is revealed thru our acts. If there is greediness, it will speak for itself allowing to show what is in us. The possessions are not the most important things in life. When Jehovah provides us with material things, it is for us to remember those who are in need and extend our hand to help them. What do we base our life on, on what we possess? It should not be like this. Let us see clearly what is in front of us and see how beneficial we can be for those who surround us. The common man always lives for himself with selfishness. One works and struggles making plans for the future, that is the material ambition and vanity of this terrestrial life. We live for ourselves, not to do well to others. How ambitious is the soul that only lives for herself! Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. Let us learn to give of what we have received. When there are selfish thoughts seeking benefits only for ourselves, we collide with God. That ambitious man mentioned in the parable of Luke 12: 16-21, his soul was about to be asked for that same night and he was going to lose everything. That reality in men before God’s sovereignty should be taken into

consideration by everyone. Many want to do and plan their ambitious lives without considering the Lord that brought them to this world, the same God who will put an end to their days on this earth. We can be rich with God if we live aware of the needs of others when we extend our hand and give as we have received. The lives of men do not consist in the abundance of the possessions. Life with God is much more than that because God’s Kingdom does not consist in posessions or food or drinks, but justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14: 17 Amen.
