When The Veil Is Removed

Moses rose to the mount and spent many days in the presence of God. When he descended from the mount his face shined with great brightness. Therefore, Moses wore a veil to cover his face. Exodus 34: 28, 29 and 33 That glory in Moses would be perishable, abolished; it would not be forever because it has its time. Later it would be substituted by a greater glory. The glory in Moses was destined to be exceeded, not like something false for the correct, but as the incomplete for the complete and the provisional for the definitive. The revelation that came through Moses was true and important, but somewhat partial. The glory that Jesus Christ has brought is complete and final. It is said that the Old Testament is a step towards a greater glory. The New Testament is the top of the glory. Therefore, we have everything to gain to be able to be free and to defeat the devil. There is no reason for a person that is in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to be defeated. We have read that Moses had a veil that hid the shine of that glory. The nation of Israel also had a veil in their hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:15 "And even to this day, when they read the book of Moses, the veil is upon their hearts." We must be careful of the veil that crosses the heart as it happened with the Jews; it is a hardness that no one can remove unless there is a deep repentance in our lives. Having a deep and real repentance is the only way we can be free from blindness and spiritual clumsiness. It disturbs my soul when I look and I see that hard veil that is inside of many lives who do not want to truly turn to the Lord. Everything that it is seen in the people who do not want to compromise with God is a convenience drama. Where Jesus is recognized as the Lord, there is liberty. We have liberty before the slavery of the law for the Jews. We have liberty by means of the Holy Spirit for the comprehension of the Scriptures. We have liberty to contemplate the face of the Lord without a veil interposed. 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 "But when they are converted to the Lord, the veil will be removed. Because the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” In the Old Testament only Moses was allowed to see the glory of the Lord. In the New Testament we all have the privilege of seeing the glory of the Lord. When there is a veil we cannot see anything. The Old Testament allows us to see Jesus in everything, but the veil does not allow the Jews and the gentiles to see Jesus to this day; they cannot see Jesus although they read the Old Testament. Nowadays the true sense of the Scriptures escapes many because they have their eyes veiled. (Veiled means "to cover with a veil") Occasionally, the Scriptures are sought to fortify our points of view more than to find the truth of God. Many times we seek the Scriptures to find what we want to find and we overlook what we do not want to see or consider. For example, everything that is mercy and love of God fascinates us, but we pass up those verses of the Scriptures that refer to the wrath and judgment of our God on purpose. Thus is! We only want things in part. The Scriptures are not this way. The Jews are not the only ones that have a veil that doesn’t let them see the real meaning of the Scriptures but also a great deal of people nowadays. There is a veil that is interposed among the Jews (also in us) and God. It is disobedience. Oh my brother! How easy it is to fall in this! We think that those who walk in disobedience are the only unjust. How lamentable when a righteous falls! Very often it is a moral blindness and not an intellectual blindness that doesn’t allow us to see God. Upon the just there should be morale; even for the impious there is. Sin is sin, and nothing can justify it. When we sin our hearts gets hardened and that veil covers our understanding. If we persist in disobedience we will become less capable of seeing it in ourselves. God’s vision is the blessing of those with a clean heart. The veil of those who do not want to learn is the contrary; there is nothing worse than the blind who do not want to see. The best teacher in the world cannot teach anything to those "who know it all" that do not want to learn. God has given us a free will and if we insist in the ways of disobedience we will not be able to learn His ways. The Word is the mirror where God lets us see His face. Let us observe that the glory of the Lord is what we observe face to face. With an uncovered face we transform ourselves from glory to glory. Let us not remain paralyzed. If we contemplate Christ we will end up reflecting Him. Such is your measure; it is how much Christ is reflected in youyour acts, your way of life, the way you think, everything in you. His image appears in us. It is a law of life that we begin to look like those we admire. The strength and direction comes to us from the Spirit and from the resurrection of Jesus. When the work of the Spirit is in our hearts we desire nothing more than to serve God, because it is no longer the law but the love that moves us. You come to church, you pray, you love the Scriptures, because it is love and not the law. Many things are done for God reluctantly; if only we really loved this we would see it as a privilege and not as an obligation. Love covers with glory the humblest tasks. Let us have our eyes uncovered and not covered with a veil to see and participate of the wonders of God. Amen.
