Living In The Inspiration Of The Spirit

TOPIC: “Living In The Inspiration Of The Spirit” 2 Samuel 23:2

The Holy Spirit inspired the men dedicated to God. 2 Peter 1: 21 It is known the that Scriptures is given to us by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 3: 16 All men and women who surrender to God have to know who guides them, who takes them or brings them from here to there. Every man and woman who lives for God allows themselves to be guided because they live inspired by the Holy Spirit; because we do not act according to our own will and we are expressing our own thoughts, but following the mind of God in the words given and ministered by Him. It is easy for men to speak what they want and what they please. But, do you know how many words we are accountable for? Even more, when they do not come from God. There are many words that come from what we personally believe, what we think, what we’ve been told, of what has been done to us, and we retaliate by talking, etc. This is done in the flesh, when the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is not in our lives. In 2 Samuel 23: 2 David said: "The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me ..." If the Spirit of God has spoken, then, for such reason the word that is given is safe, it is clear, reliable. That word is received in peace, even if provokes a great war in our inner lives or in our relationship with other human beings. Numbers 11:25 Moses needed spiritual help in order to address the vast multitude who were the people of God; he needed men to speak to the people God's word and not their own. God granted this to Moses who complained that the whole burden was upon him. So God gave him relief. Moses was a courageous and meek man of God, but he was responsible for too many people to advise and to guide, and this is why he needed help, to give spiritual words to those people. Because there was a lot of talk in those times as there is now, they only spoke in the flesh, the gossip, envy, anger and quarrels, everything among them was worldly and Moses saw the need for spiritual words. Therefore, God came to Moses and aided him. The kings of Israel and Judah needed to hear the word of Jehovah to make an important decision as we see in I Kings 22:7, 14. Both kings, Ahab of Israel and Jehoshaphat of Judah, met wanting to consult God. For this they sought 400 prophets (I Kings 22: 5.6), but all those prophets had sold themselves to the king, they had sold their words to this world and they were not faithful to God. God was not first in their lives. But, there was a prophet faithful to God named Micaiah. King Ahab of Israel hated him because he was a true prophet who spoke the words which came inspired by God. Ahab said in I Kings 22:8, "I hate him." That happens with those who speak by inspiration of the Spirit, they are hated by many (Matthew 5: 11.12). The man of God does not act in accordance with his will. How much do we have to resist to the vicious will and evil intentions of the heart! We read in I Kings 22: 13 when the messenger warns the prophet Micaiah to speak the word according to the word of some of those 400 prophets. A prophet must be clear and understand that he is not expressing his own thoughts, but following the mind of God in the words given and inspired by Him. We do not speak the words that men want to hear, but what God wants to speak for the good of man. Micaiah did not fear the king, he feared God; he would speak what God spoke to him, whether they liked it or not. The man of God, as understood by David, knows "that the word has been on my (his) tongue." When we fear God we know what word should be in our mouth. There will not always be a good reward when one speaks on behalf of God. In 2 Chronicles 24:20-21 we read that the prophet Zechariah spoke on behalf of God to King Joash and the people who had walked away from God. He hated him and killed him! How much it hurts the ear of those who have been separated from God and the wicked the words of admonition and correction that comes from God! When the voice of God comes and reaches their ears the demons make men squirm and they cannot hide it, the word causes discomfort, anger and rage. They demons sprout from their eyes and they cannot hide, they are raging and squirming, but those who live in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit Himself will support them. Zechariah was stoned to death. That’s how angry were those who were listening to the prophet Zechariah, then King Joash had him killed. There is much sacrifice when one wants to conserve pure and intact the word that has been given by God; we must have courage, love the Lord, deliverance and a great respect to the voice of God that comes into our lives by the Holy Spirit. Jeremiah 1:9 "Now, I have put my words in your mouth ..." Thus said the Lord to the prophet Jeremiah. He was no longer going to live speaking what he wanted but rather the Spirit would seal his lips with fire. His thoughts would no longer dominate his life. How torpid can our thoughts be which often betrays us! Jeremiah would be guided according to what the Holy Spirit wanted to speak to the people. Jeremiah would have to follow God’s mind in the words given and ministered by Him. It was no longer what Jeremiah thought or how the King wanted to use him; Jeremiah belonged to God. His mouth had to be filled with the Holy Spirit, now he was merely an instrument as you and me to God.

When the Spirit has spoken, the next thing that follows is that His word will be in your tongue. You must care for it; you have to zeal when the Spirit wants to bring the voice of God. Do not be misled by bribes or seek to have people happy, or think that this way you will get more. Remember that the word of God is to be maintained and kept faithfully and spoken as it is. If you do not, then the bad days will come as we see in this study. Let us be faithful to His word as God is faithful in all things. Amen.
