The Law of Christ

BIBLE STDY #772- CHURCH IN THE HOUSES FROM: JUNE 4 -10, 2013 Topic: “The Law of Christ” Galatians 6:2-5, 10

We have to seek for our hearts to be moved. We have to give in to love others because in our own lives we have acknowledged the love of our Lord. How insensitive many people live nowadays who Christ has loved and helped to become new persons! That’s pitiful, because what is done habitually is to criticize or move the mouth to not do anything for others. What needs to be moved is the heart! And immediately! Because if you leave it for later on, if you don’t do the good that is at your hands in the precise moment and wait to do it later, finally you won’t do it! Move your body to endure the burden of others! It is all simple…IF YOU LOVE! In how many persons have you thought about today? We forget that we have to comply with the law of Christ. Let us understand today that the duty of service towards others turns into the law of Christ for our lives. Let us see examples where Jesus wanted us to know that for Him to love others and endure the burden is law, then, for us His disciples it should also be. One example is in Mark 10:43, 44 “Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant. And whoever wants to be first MUST BE SLAVE OF ALL”. Those who go crazy to be first will be the servant of all. (Luke 10:36, 37) Your fellowman is your resemblance, someone who is part of humanity, someone who is the same as you, and if someone appears to be affected or needed one has to stop and look at him to do him well, to use of mercy. What do you do with that person? Do you give of what you have? John 13:14 “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should WASH ONE ANOTHER’S FEET.” The Lord and Teacher washed the feet of the disciples, the same we should do to one another. THE SERVICE IS DONE OUT OF LOVE! Galatians 5:13 “You my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; RATHER, SERVE ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE.” We have been called to be free for a service of love, a liberty not of the flesh because sin is not permitted before the righteous God that frees us. Love is completed as the motive of all Christian behavior. The slaves of love are the real liberators (liberated slaves). When we have been set free by God something we should do is: the habit of being slaves to one another. Galatians 6:10 “THEREFORE, AS WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY, LET US DO GOOD TO ALL PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WHO BELONG TO THE FAMILY OF FAITH.” Do you do this my brother? The family of faith are all those who are saved. The great preacher John Wesley said: “Do all the good you can in every way you can, all the time you can: This is the Lord’s law.” When we see the brother with burdens due to failures, temptations, trials, disgraces, adversities and fatalities… let us do him well and endure his burden! Nevertheless, what many do is to maintain distance from the brother who is in pain. And how the lack of love has to be justified and defended, well criticism begins to be launched about the brother. This way they can justify that they are right when they do not help or love, but the hard truth is that the brother is not loved and the law of Christ is not fulfilled. We should be by the side of the brother who has problems or anguishes and help him in every way possible. Do you do this? Will you always do it? The law of Christ are all the Lord’s commandments for his nation, which we can find in the New Testament and summarized in John 13:34 “A new command I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 15:12) We the believers are capable of keeping his commandments thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit that is given to us. Our motivation is the love of Christ. Let us love our brothers as we have been loved by Christ. We have all been made from dust. Those who are satisfied with themselves, those who think they are something and believe they do not need the help of the brothers in some of the burdens they might have and believe they are capable enough to do it all, they also won’t have a heart for their weary brothers. Galatians 6:3 “If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” Because what causes us to be kind and humble helpers and nice with others is to realize that we are nothing and that we also need our brothers. The apostle exhorts these who believe to be something to examine their own behavior so that if there is something to boost about to do so only with respect to their own selves and not with respect to the fellowman. Vs. 4 “Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else”. The habit of comparing ourselves with others is to find a cause for our own satisfaction. We should be careful from ourselves so that we can rejoice ourselves in good deeds and not in the failures of others. In this way Paul teaches us that we should share the pains, suffering and the problems of the others in this present life. Verse 5 “…for each one should carry his own load” is that each one will have to carry his own burden of responsibility before the Tribunal of Christ. We can help or be helped, but that doesn’t mean that we will totally let go of our burdens to the one who gives us a hand, well it has to be in us to go ahead in the faith that we have reached in Christ. Let us do good things, let us truly love! Let us love the brothers as Christ has loved us! Without expecting anything in change! Simply let us love, and in this way we will be fulfilling the Law of Christ! Amen.
