To Have Stability

BIBLE STUDY. #783- CHURCH IN THE HOUSES PASTOR EDITH CRUZ TUESDAY SEPT 10 – 16, 2013 Topic: “To Have Stability” 1 Chronicles 28:7 To remain firm and not stagger or turn back on God is what takes us to win in everything. God has prepared wonders for the well-being of our lives and it is up to us to remain stable in what we have believed. In the difficult day we should remain firm in our trials, remain stable, and continue to be just as we were the day we acknowledged Him. We can see in this biblical scenery that there were many promises on God’s behalf for Salomon. God would be his Father and Salomon would be His son. Great promise! But, it was up to Salomon to watch his heart to maintain it always the same as God has seen it in that moment. That was the moment in which God was making a pact with him. God had seen in Salomon disposition for the work, wisdom, which is fear of God, obedience and meekness for God to lead him. Well, if these things that God had seen in him were always maintained, then God would always support him, sustain and affirm. That’s how the Lord would be with Salomon, he would support him every step, as long as God found him in the same way as that moment. He would always have God’s support for his life and his work. It was up to Salomon to watch his life and his walk taking care of his heart, now that he had promises. 1 Chronicles 28:7 “I will establish his kingdom forever if he is unswerving in carrying out my commands and laws, as is being done at this time.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” God calls us to be firm and constant. He calls us to grow, to be abundant in God’s work always. How many times do you become tired of the Lord’s work? How many times do you turn away from the Lord’s work underestimating it? How many protests to not perform the Lord’s work? How many things are greater and more important for your life, more than the Lord’s work? You’re given a job where you get paid a few dollars and that is greater than the Lord’s work in your life! The word says: “Knowing that your work in the Lord is not in vain.” Firm, constant, that is how you get ahead, but, “taking a step forward and another step back”, you can’t get as far as the Lord wants you to. Salomon’s great problem was that due to his negligence he lost God’s support. Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” We cannot go back and be subjected to the yoke of slavery. Christ made you free. When there is a distance, we become separated from God again and standing alone we cannot do what God wants in our lives. Let us be firm in order to succeed. Philippians 1:27 “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel.” There is a warning here: “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” We should reflect the image of Christ. The citizens of Heaven should behave as such. We should practice what we are, according to our position. That is the place that you occupy in the Lord’s body. Paul calls for constancy, something that seems to be “uphill” to the people. In order to be supported by God one has to always be constant. Paul said: “…then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence…” in any way, he wanted always to hear reports about them that they would remain firm in the same spirit. What has become complicated for many is to remain firm. Like Salomon, the fall comes due to their flesh. A fall that will destroy life, afterward God will become distanced. We have to fight against the enemy that wants to harm us and separate us from God; do not be mistaken fighting against the holy things that have done so much good for you. 2 Peter 3:17 “Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.” Stay on guard! One cannot fall asleep so often. We should be constantly on guard against the danger of error. Having being called, Salomon fell in error: temptation, women, money, idolatry, passions, disorders, he stopped loving the people, and he oppressed them. He rested in his call and stopped being a vigilant soldier, he lost everything, everything. God no longer supported him because he did not maintain himself like the day in which God was seeing his good disposition to seek Him. The knowledge that there will always be false teachers that will corrupt and imitate the truth should keep us alert. It’s easy for the unwary to be dragged for the error of the wicked and lose the spiritual balance. Pay attention to the lack of concern by

being imprudent; don’t let yourself be deceived easily by not thinking wrongfully of others. Those who want to deceive you will drag you to sin. Deliver yourself from all that wickedness and be attentive to the dangers for the soul by remaining firm and stable as your first day. Amen.
