I Will Only Seek One Thing

BIBLE STUDY #811- CHURCH IN THE HOUSES TUESDAY, APRIL 29 - MAY 5, 2014

Topic: “I Will Only Seek One Thing” Psalms 27:4 The man who has in his life only ONE ideal, only ONE and great objective, only ONE great goal, will be the man who will triumph. Psalms 27:4 “ONE THING I ask of the Lord THIS IS WHAT I SEEK; THAT I MAY DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE, TO GAZE UPON THE BEAUTY OF THE LORD AND TO SEEK HIM IN HIS TEMPLE”. That is what King David chose and wanted to live. May all our affections and inclinations meet and be centered ONLY in God! Only in celestial things! We should understand that in a general way David refers to men’s communion with God; if a Christian seeks and achieves to have that communion with the Giver of Life, he will not desire anything else! “I have demanded (I have asked)…” We ask for what we cannot find immediately, we ask for what we desire. God judges us in great part by the desires of our hearts. There is one thing I have requested of God and that is what I’m going to look for. One thing, that my heart be inclined to SEARCH HIM! That is what David asked the Lord. Then he united all his efforts to find what he asked for. David asked: “…that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life…” Those who ask like this say: I am going to unite all that I am and all that I have so that what I ask may be fulfilled and God can answer my petition. I am going to unite: everything, to have my desire exclusively in the Lord. I will live my whole life searching only Him and later at the end of my days I will be taken by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. That is how David thought and desired to live. Each one of us has to know if we have already found our “Precious Pearl.” (Mathew 13:45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”) We make of all that is ours a bundle (a string that ties a bouquet of things); we tie all that is ours and we surrender it, we sell it in order to take possession of the best Pearl. Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like TREASURE hidden in a field, when a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” We die to what is ours, to what we had before we searched for the Lord to obtain the Treasure. This Treasure has the access door and communication with Heaven; it is the “celestial bank” in which we should draw all our checks. The contrary to search to have the Pearl and the Treasure is to focus the desires in the worldly things, in things of men. If you do this, you will miserably die in the dust and you will not see God! Perhaps David could have wished for rest, serenity and a thousand other good things, but IT WAS NOT LIKE THAT! His heart’s door was open only to seek the Precious Pearl, only to search the largest Treasure that can exist. We, like David, should seek to do the same above all things. When in your life you have these holy desires, they will take you to a resolved action. That action, those facts or voluntary acts should be in you. Then, your resolved life will be directed to one purpose, you will already be decided and with courage to seek only the Lord. You will have the courage to request what David requested: “That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life…” If you have these holy desires, they will take you to that action so resolved and clear. “To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord…” It is to contemplate by faith. We are not going to enter the assembly of the saints (to the cults) to see and to be seen by the others or merely to see the pastor. It will be good to see when each believer, faithful follower of Jesus, goes to church (to the temple) to contemplate the King in His beauty. Oh! What an infinite fortunate vision! Tell me if there is, if there can be, a greater petition! THIS IS WHAT DAVID DESIRED! How great it is when He is manifested in our lives and He staggers all our being! THAT IS THE BEAUTY OF JEHOVAH! The sanctity is beautiful! Mercy is beautiful! The truth is beautiful! And that is what we seek in His house! It is not to be a great leader, or to look at anyone, or me. It is to fear and seek only to contemplate HIS BEAUTY! What do you seek when you arrive at the House of God? Him or yourself? The desire in David’s heart is, “to seek Him in His temple”. It is not to seek anything that you can touch physically. It is to inquire, to investigate, to seek to acknowledge. It is that you are going to inquire to get to know Him. It is to be asking about Him, it is to be making these gestures with so much surrender in your life. It is to find out, to be seeking information to make yourself knowledgeable of God. Not about the brothers! It is to know Him, not only to know about the forgiveness of your sins; it is more than anything to know your Forgiver. It is to be examining carefully the One that you say you know. In church (in the temple) one should make all the effort to acknowledge God closely. Look UP! Don’t look down here. He is the omnipresent and omniscient! Not me, I am only the pastor! Fill yourself with praise! And in the sermon, inquire of God and later you will go to your house FULL OF HIM! Not of me! Nor of the conversation with the brother! Of God! ONLY OF HIM! If you asked this as David did, then, SEEK WHAT YOU ASKED WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH! Amen.
