I Only Know One Thing, That Jehovah Chose Me

Topic: “I Only Know One Thing, That Jehovah Chose Me” I Corinthians 1:27, 28 It says here, “…but God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things and the things that are not…” God chooses the foolish (clumsy, incapable, without logic, without reason) to confuse people and mostly the wise. That is how God chose men and women to shame the others. God confuses the wise and works through those he has chosen, who are his instruments and do not have human wisdom. The worldly wise with human wisdom cannot do or accomplish what the chosen can, this is: “lead men to salvation.” No human wisdom can take someone to acknowledge who God is. God chose “the weak”; that’s what God thought and saw what was best for humanity. And “what is not,” “the foolish”, “the weak”, “the lowly” and “the despised”, these are attributes of God’s chosen, that to the eyes and consideration of other men, they are nothing. God chose men with these four characteristics and which are considered as “nothing” to nullify the things that are. This is so no person can brag. Because those who try to glorify themselves in the greatness and human wisdom are confused, they are embarrassed. The flesh like the flower in the field is beautiful, but weak (Isaiah 40:6). Those who glorify themselves, glorify in the Lord! We are to glorify ourselves in Him, not in front of Him. We can see that God used the sound of the trumpets to destroy the walls of Jericho. The Lord also reduced Gideon’s army which was thirty-two thousand to only three-hundred to defeat and make Midianites’ numerous armies flee. The great Samson defeated the Philistines with a donkey’s jawbone; God strengthened Samson to defeat an army. Our Lord Jesus fed more than five-thousand men with just a few fish and bread. God works in this way, the few, the little and the weak. (Ephesians 1:18 “…I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints…) It says, enlightening the eyes of our understanding. They are the eyes of our heart. The impious become dark, full of darkness, they are in obscurity. About the chosen who are the ones called, it says that the eyes of our heart should be enlightened. There should be no confusion or immaturity or darkness in our lives. The first effect of the Spirit in us who are His new creation is to impart light; just as it was in the original and physical creation. (Genesis 1:3 “And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”) God imparts light to us through the Holy Spirit so that we will know what the hope of our vocation is; the hope that corresponds to the fact of having been called. He has in reserve the inheritance for the saints. The appropriate understanding of the divine realities does not depend on some sharp intellects but rather on a tender heart. The hope of His call indicates ahead, to the future; this means that final destination He had in mind when He called us. The Lord speaks of the vocation for which we were called. Ephesians 4:1 “As a prisoner for the Lord, then I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received…” Our call is according to the interests of the One who called us. Let us walk with an attitude according to the call we have been given. Unfortunately there are musicians who do not want to rehearse, who are absent at church; it is lack of love to God’s. Walk according to your vocation! Our exalted position in Christ demands a corresponding merciful conduct. Paul says: “As a prisoner for the Lord…” What the world considers a dishonor, discredit, he considers it as the highest honor. The apostle glorifies himself in his chains for Christ more than a king in his crown! Paul had been imprisoned as a result of his fidelity and obedience to the Lord. The apostle exhorts his readers to walk as honorable as the vocation. For what we have been called; to the vocation, the work in which we should be walking. It is an honorable walk. It is to walk in conformity to the calling and live according to what the Lord has given us. We cannot live far off from what we have been called upon. Amen.
