His Ambassadors Will See His Glory

STUDY: # 831 – CHURCH IN THE HOUSES FROM: SEPT. 30 to OCT. 6, 2014

Topic: "His Ambassadors Will See His Glory" Numbers 14: 6-10 Sometimes, believers pay more attention to how difficult it’s going to be to do something that God commands them than in the victory they will obtain when they obey. Men are very ungrateful with what God wants to give them. For example, Israel, although they were God's chosen nation, and still having the glory of God with them, they always said that God wanted to destroy them and bring them to suffering. Numbers 14: 1-4 "That night all the people of the community raised their voices and wept aloud. All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “if only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert! Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt? And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt” The perversity of these people and the folly of their behavior is almost unbelievable. However, we see this behavior of ingratitude and of claims to God is imitated by too many people today. Like the people of Israel, today, many flee from smaller difficulties and prefer to remain slaves of sin instead of trying to resolve and overcome the obstacles that are on their way to freedom in Christ and be able to arrive at the glorious “celestial Canaan". Moses and Aaron fell to the ground imploring that the people would calm down. Numbers 14: 5 "Then Moses and Aaron fell face down in front of the whole Israelites assembly gathered there." There was great anger in that town; now they wanted a captain, they wanted to form an army; they no longer wanted to be God's people, with their priest Aaron and their leader Moses, called by God. Moses and Aaron’s immediate reaction was to assume the position to fall to the ground and prostrate on their faces like humble and burning supplicants, asking those rebellious men to desist from that perverse purpose. Numbers 14: 6. "Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes". The faithful spies Joshua and Caleb testified their grief and horror in the most powerful way, tearing their clothes (as was the custom in those days) as a sign of mourning. They did this because of the great mutiny against Moses and the blasphemy against God. At the same time they tried to persuade the people that it would be easy to take possession of such pleasant land. They feared that those rebellious and ungrateful people would provoke God to abandon them. Numbers 14: 7-9 "... and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “the land we pass through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the Land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them." Canaan was a spectacular land that was given to them by God and the only thing left to do was to take it. What seemed inconvenient and difficult- GOD WOULD DO IT HIMSELF! A blessed land flowing with milk and honey! Blessed is everything God gives us! That Promised Land was rich and fertile, that’s what God was giving them in their hands. But they persisted in rising against the just God who was giving them what they had not built or planted; He gave them the cattle and sheep, God put everything in their hands. But, because of their hard and evil hearts, they were about to be discarded by the Lord. He was giving them the Holy Land, a land whose main products were rich and fertile. Even today that land is called the "Holy Land." God remains to be God with His power and men pass from generation to generation. “If the Lord delight in us," said Joshua and Caleb. If he likes us, if he delights in us, if we make Him happy. If we satisfy Him, if He is content with us, He will do! He will take us to the Promised Land and give it to us! Now that we are close there is no reason to doubt; what we need is to walk a bit because we have

explored the land and have seen the good there is! There was no need to look at the giants or their weapons, none of that, God would deliver. He offers; He gives! However, those infidels talked about stoning them. Numbers 14:10 "But the whole assembly talked about stoning them. Then the glory of the LORD appeared at the tent of meeting to all the Israelites ...” They wanted to stone those who believed God! It is an evil thing, but there is nothing to fear. The glory of Jehovah would be shown! In this opportunity God’s glory manifested just in time; that is how God cares for us in the great emergencies. GOD WILL RESCUE HIS AMBASADORS FROM THE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS! Jehovah’s glory will show in those who become ambassadors of His holy will to conquer what belongs to Him. The fearful cannot reach, he will only obtain what he fears; he will receive an end without glory. Let us be ambassadors of His holy will, the ones who believe God, who speak in faith and courage, knowing that He has promised us victory and will not fail nor regret. Let us do like Joshua and Caleb! His ambassadors will see His glory! Amen.
