TOPIC: "Escape" Psalms 11: 1

It is a temptation for the psalmist David to distrust God; this is how the Psalm begins. The advices that people give are according to what they feel, but we see here in Psalms that David resisted such advice. Probably his soul welcomed the advice to escape, but his spirit resisted it. It happened that David was in the court of King Saul and it was not easy to deal with a king that was always against him, he was fighting with someone who was so tormented. Because of his struggle with Saul and his other possible struggles is that people advise him to escape. But David says: "In the Lord I trust! How then can you say to me to flee like a bird to your mountain"? When Satan cannot defeat us by leading us to pride, with his astuteness he seeks our destruction by other means: to induce us to DISTRUST! The enemy will draw those who love us to treat us as if we didn’t have confidence and thus convince us that it is best to flee. The enemy does this to harm us later. That can happen to us unless we AFFIRM DEFINITELY OUR IMMUTABLE TRUST IN THE LORD! If we are not confident in the Lord the advice of our loved ones will drive us to flee like a shy bird to the mountains. If we escape fleeing from the danger what we are really doing is distancing ourselves from God, it would be the same as walking away from Him. The escapes are to fall into the mouth of temptation. The falls of the Saints have occurred when they have left their trenches and his strength, which is the Lord. Our strength is like the strength of the rabbits, which are weak animals; their strength is found in the rock where their dwelling is. The same occurs with our lives, we are weak but our strength is in the Rock of our salvation, who is the Almighty God. Psalms 11: 2 "For look, the wicked bend their bows, they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart." The wicked bend the bow; they put the dart (the arrow) on the string. When the bow is drawn and the arrow is placed on the string it is as if they were saying to the bird: "Flee, flee helpless bird; your safety is in escaping, flee because your enemies are going to send darts to your heart; hurry because soon they will destroy you." This is what the enemies and the cowards say to those who trust in the Lord. It is that they do not support those who remain in the midst of the battle with their robust faith and with their strong confidence in God! They would want to see them run away, fall and fail! David felt the strength of advice because he felt it in his own soul, but yet he did not want to give way but rather he dares to confront the danger before displaying distrust in the Lord his God. Another example of the entrapment of the enemy is when priests and Pharisees prepared to trap Jesus and to kill Him using astuteness. They tightened their bow, as the psalm says, when they bought Judas Iscariot to betray the one who was his Master; Judas was loved by Jesus. Psalms 11: 3, "When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?" That is what those wicked and perverse men wanted to do. But, it is impossible that the fundamentals of religion may be destroyed totally and finally. Note that men without God want to destroy the foundations of religion by accepting sin. What can the righteous do? Pray and remain firm in faith! When prayer puts God on our side and when faith assures us the fulfillment of the promise, what motive could there be to flee, no matter how cruel and powerful our enemies may be? Because we cannot

do anything against the truth but for the truth (2 Corinthians 13: 8); God is always God. The wicked can do everything, because his conscience which is so light and is no longer conscious, allows him to do everything that is bad no mattering how illegitimate it would be. He comes to kill, poison, whatever, by all means, at all times, anywhere to anyone who stands between him and the achievements of his desires. But, "The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne..." (Psalms 11:4) The heavens are above our heads! This is the powerful reason not to adopt the vile suggestions of distrust. Jesus discovers any intrigue from man. Jehovah has in heaven His throne. Can He not save us without us having to resort to a cowardly retreat? Once again, LET US GIVE A CRY OF WAR INSTEAD OF ESCAPING! His eyes see; He just looks, He sees the heart. His eyelids scrutinize the sons of men. Evilness cannot resist the observation of any eye, much less the eye of justice of our God. Jehovah sends His judgment according to the wickedness of man and falls upon their heads. Our great God and Savior delivers us from all machinations and the arrow of the enemy, let’s just maintain our faith firm and shall our prayer prevail over every threat of the defeated enemy. Amen.
