My Beloved is Mine, My Beloved is God

TOPIC: "My Beloved is Mine, My Beloved is God" Song of Songs 5:9-16

Whom so pure has loved my soul? How far and lost my soul was as to make it clean and pure for Him! What is the only thing that we can have for Him but rather to worship Him recognizing His greatness, power, authority and absolute dominion? He is the creator of all! That pure and ineffable love only flows from Him! Who is this who has loved our lives and has done it without measuring everything that He has to do in us so that we can draw near to Him? We know Him little by little; He breaks us little by little, He convinces us from our wickedness little by little and establishes in our lives and His divine will little by little! If it wasn’t for His beautiful treatment of little by little gradually arriving to convince us, we would not understand anything because of our fallen nature. If it were not so, today we could not recognize our Beloved! It’s that the flesh (our fallen nature) cannot see it. "How is your beloved better than others, most beautiful of women? How is your beloved better than others, that you charge us so?" Songs 5:9 What have you seen in Him of extraordinary so that you beg us to help you find Him? Do you want us to do a plot (spell among several people to perform an action)? The question leads the wife TO DESCRIBE IN DETAILS THE BEAUTIFUL TRAITS OF THE FIGURE OF THE BELOVED. With all liberty she lets her thoughts express what she sees of her Beloved. When speaking, her memory does not record faults or defects and the greatest thing: she never registered that in Him there was a lack of love. This love between the loved one and the lover of the Book of Songs is a comparison of the love between the Church and her Beloved, the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us see how the beloved (the Church) describes Him (the Lord): He is radiant and ruddy (Vs. 10), healthy and beautiful; "The Lamb" is His wedding and sacrificial name (I Peter 1:19; Revelation 19: 7). Rosy, is the adjective "ruddy" according to the translation. It's like saying, "So elegant is my beloved and so rosy His skin so that among ten thousand men it is easy to recognize Him." He stands out among all others! "His head is purest gold" (Vs.11), not because of the color but because of the value it has for her. His hair consists of beautiful curls that are sign of authority. His eyes are like doves (Vs. 12). The obscure of His iris surrounded by the bright white of the eye; it is to say "perfectly placed" very well placed, separated from each other. The rosy cheeks of the beloved seem to her like a bed of flowers (Vs.13). The cheeks are the seat of beauty according to the Hebraic sense. The era is a square of land where there is a garden of aromatic plants. His lips are like lilies dripping with myrrh. His lips are as sweet as the dew drops falling from the chalice of the lily (such as a cup-shaped container or glass). (Vs 14) The flower of Hyacinth refers to the delicate and shapely roundness of His fingers; it is that she sees the nails of her beloved which precious stones set on the tip of His fingers. All the body of the beloved seems made of polished ivory white, soft but strong and hard. Every inch of His body is for her more precious than all the riches of Solomon himself; "covered with sapphires" is an expression that indicates most likely the appearance that the skin of His body offered when glowing beneath the thin purple robe that covered him. His legs that hold up the body of the beloved seemed as pillars of marble set on bases of pure gold (vs.15).

It is three times that she mentions gold referring to the characteristics of her beloved: gold in the thoughts OF HIS HEAD (Vs. 11), gold in the works of HIS HANDS (Vs. 14), gold in the stability of the steps of HIS FEET (Vs. 15). His palate, not referring to the taste of things, but rather as synonymous of the mouth from which comes out for her His pleasant expressions, delicious (Vs. 16). He exceeds everything, everything! "Such is my lover, such is my friend, daughters of Jerusalem." HOW COULD SHE NOT BE SO MARVELED OF SUCH PERSON? If we knew who our Savior was, we would be equally amazed. He is a delight for me! May we stop and reflect on The One whom we have confessed as our Lord! Instead of complaints, problems and situations we should stop and say, “He is All delicious; enchanting. Such is my lover, such is my friend." And whom, wholeheartedly, follow Him with holy pride can say like this maid said to the other maids: "Such is my lover, such is my friend.” Amen.
