Topic: “The Enemy Wants to Take Away From God the Worship You Give Him” Psalm 57:1-11 The world has its “lions” (Psalms 57:4), all those willing to devour your soul. To our Jesus the governors placed “a net at his feet” (Psalms 57:6) with their cunning interrogations asking: “Is it licit to give tribute to Caesar or not?” (Mathew 22:17) And, if the women caught in adultery should have been stoned to death or not (John 8:5). Just like this, all this comes to our lives to devour our souls and drown us in suffering, in worries, desperations, anguishes, and thus TO QUIET OUR MOUTHS SO WE WON’T WORSHIP THE LORD! The persecutor people who pursue the just are those “son of men” who are against the Lord. Their teeth and tongues were like spears and swords; they cried out to PILATE: “Crucify him, crucify him!” His spiritual enemies also sought a way to devour His soul; our Lord Jesus Christ was among “lions” every day of His life until the hour of His death. Death dug a ditch for Him with the idea of devouring Him. Psalms 57:1 “Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge…” When we want to serve the Lord the battle is WITH ONESELF TO NOT FALL! How do we do this? Well, as the psalmist David said: “Have mercy on me, my God.” This excellent psalm was composed by David when there was enough against him to disconcert the best man in the world. “The lions” are those difficult circumstances that seek out how to destroy our souls. The enemy seeks for you not to know how to react or know what to think or say when difficult or unexpected things arrive, so that you may be confused. David also said in that same verse: “… I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings…” He could not get confused with the arrival of the unexpected. He was not only going to hide in the cave (I Samuel 22:1) but, much more important yet, he would hide in “THE ROCK OF THE CENTURIES”, “…until the disaster has passed.” Let us know that all these adverse situations are like the clouds, they come and will also leave. Psalm 57:2 “I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me.” Let us be sure, but will all PRAY, because faith never moves! We pray because we believe. I will cry out! Do you know what God will do for you? “He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.” Psalms 57:3 Our enemies will not have the power to mock us. Their cruel mockery and severe reprimands will be terminated by the message of the heavens that will save us forever. Our lives can be among lions. WE CAN BE IN FIRE LIKE THE BRAMBLE OF HOREB, BUT WE COULD NEVER BE CONSUMED. It is a great success of the faith when we are thrown among burning sticks and God liberates us; we find rest because God is our defense. “My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.” Psalm 57:7 The will with an attitude of having courage and the intention of doing canticle with the mouth. The steadfast heart is calm, firm, content, determined and steady. There is no plan of the enemy that can move us. When the central axle is secure, the whole wheel is firm. If our prow anchor is maintained firm, the ship will not drift. “My heart is steadfast.” That is the key to our life, the steadfast heart. I am determined to trust you, to serve you and praise you. The enemy wants to silence the praise so that there will be doubts, tribulations, complaints and laments; WHAT THE ENEMY WANTS IS TO TAKE AWAY FROM GOD YOUR

WORSHIP. Let us be determined to trust God and proclaim His glory. Let us do it lifting our voices, in public. I WILL GIVE GLORY WITH WORSHIP TO HE WHO STANDS UP FOR ME! I will sing; I will make psalms. With my voice and with instruments I will celebrate your worship. With my lips and with my heart I will give you honor. Satan will not stop me! No one! The Rev. Charles Spurgeon said: “Sing even if sense and reason tells you that it is better to be quiet; sing and consider a betrayal that a saint would not worship God. The saints, whether they conquer or are conquered, continue to sing. Blessed be God for this! May the enemies tremble when contending with men with such a celestial spirit! Sincerity makes a Christian sing when he has nothing for supper. “Awake, my soul: Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.” Psalm 57:8 We shall sing with grace and enthusiasm. “Awake love, awake delight, let us praise God.” Let us put worship in our cell phones, on the radio, in our cars, etc. Do not keep quiet! Let us adore always and worship the One who deserves our continuous praise! Amen!
