The Divine Calling

TOPIC: “The Divine Calling” Zephaniah 2:3 "Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord's anger." The divine calling has only one reason and that is repentance to a life of justice. It is not for "greatness" or to enjoy the great offers that are merchandized in the gospel nowadays. Let us see an example in Jeremiah 35:1-19. Something I have known, in the same way God was pleased with the Rechabites and rewarded them for their integrity, He also wants to forgive us, to save us and to walk like the Rechabites, being righteous. But, different from the integrity of the Rechabites, we see a great disposition for disobedience in many people. They despise God's principles (rules, laws). The worse thing about human beings is that they "do not incline their ears" nor do they pay attention (Jeremiah 35:14 "...yet you have not obeyed me"). The infinite and tender God who has absolute authority over men on earth is defied. God speaks clear to our lives, but it is very common not to incline the ear to hear. Do you yield to listen to Him? The majority do not want to do so; but if it is for gossip or something that does not concern us, we quickly incline not only the ear but even the whole body! Ezekiel 33:11 "Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?" The Lord does not want the death of those who sin. God gives hope to the sinful man! It is not ruin what pleases God for men. God tells the evil one that he will live IF HE RETURNS FROM HIS EVIL WAY! The same will happen to everyone who repents and believes in Him (John 3:16). God wants conversion, it is to turn around and walk for Him. How difficult it is for many! It seems that they like to walk forward directly to the bonfire! Death is not God's pleasure, but rather for men to repent and live! A compassionate tenderness manifests itself here despite all the sins of men on earth. But, along with that great love and tenderness, there is also a holiness that does not lower any of God's demands as far as the honor of his authority. Remember, that God's justice is always vindicated (defended), clearly knowing that each one will be treated with the necessary adjustments according to God's own justice. 2 Corinthians 5:20 "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God." We are ambassadors in the name of Christ. His representatives, in His name we communicate the message of reconciliation and with His authority. An ambassador is a messenger and representative at the same time. An ambassador does not act on his own authority. What I communicate are not my own opinions or demands but simply what I have been ordered to say. But, at the same time we speak with authority, with the authority of Christ Himself. And Christ being the Great Envoy of the Father, it is as if God were making His invitation through us. Then, what is it that I have to say to every man and woman? Reconcile with God! It is not that you have lost something that you had, it is simpler, it is that you have distanced yourself from God! It is hard to accept that your eyes and ears are first to see and hear others and not God! But, what does God ask for today? Reconcile! Reconcile! What God wants to do is for you and Him to re-establish communion! If you do, you will be saved in the day of Jehovah's anger! Zephaniah 2:3 "Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, you who do what he commands. Seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the Lord's anger." Be humble you and seek God. Know the character of God! Let us seek to put our behavior in harmony (adjustment) with the responsibilities derived from the covenant that Jehovah deigned to make with his

people. Walk as He walked! (1 John 2:6 "Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.") Be humble you and not haughty! The humble are those who lack strength, those who lack power and social influence, those who have few rights to defend and do not feel self-sufficient before God (Matthew 5:3-6). Meekness, which comes from humility, what it does is to highlight the strength of a faith that surrenders to the hands of God without trusting at all in one's own strength. Let us love justice, love meekness; let us seek that both be in our lives so that in the day of Jehovah's anger we may be saved! Amen.
