A orar.

The Power of God Is Infinite
1 Chronicles 29:12
Introduction
When the people of Israel made a great offering for the building of the temple, David acknowledges that everything they were able to give comes from God Himself. Every resource, whether material or of honor, has its origin in God; and we are not here to make demands of life, neither at work nor anywhere else. Perhaps your day today is good and quiet; but one does not know about tomorrow, and since tomorrows are so uncertain, we must be knowers of God and of how great His power is.
I.Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all (1 Chronicles 29:12).
A. David acknowledges where everything comes from.
- 1.David wanted to build the temple: he had the money and he had the army, and he laid it all up. But God told him: no, David, not you, for in your hands there is much blood.
- 2.It fell to David to destroy the enemies; Solomon would have better days, and for that David had to make war and clear a territory that was overrun.
- 3.When one says wise, the image is Solomon. But to each one God gives the exact wisdom; I will not despise the wisdom God has given me, nor do I want Solomon's.
- 4.To every righteous one God gives wisdom, because in us the Holy Spirit dwells; and the Holy Spirit has all knowledge.
- 5.Every resource, material or of honor, has its origin in God. Everything on earth moves grounded in God; that is why the good thing is to be right with God.
B. Thou reignest over all.
- 1.When we question everything and our head is spinning, we must know that God rules it all.
- 2.We never learn the other question: thank you, Lord, because you are going to teach me; you rule everything, and what I am living is because you are going to teach me.
- 3.There are countries where it does not rain at all and there is famine. And when here there are days without rain, within an hour God sends it.
- 4.If we understand that the power of God is infinite, we become spiritual beings. But it is more comfortable to opine, to talk, and to pull this way and that.
- 5.For no one can judge the spiritual man, say the Scriptures; for that would be to judge and question the Most High.
II.In thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
A. The power is for the one who asks for it.
- 1.When we are distressed by circumstances, it is because we do not go to God; for in His hands is the strength and the power.
- 2.God has made our needs. And what does God want? That you understand. And when you understand, what will you learn? To pray.
- 3.It is not worked out with the mind: we have to pray. And according to our needs, God supplies.
- 4.We think we can put pressure on what is coming. No: the power is the Lord's, the Lord is the one who acts and the one who chooses, because the one with sovereignty is God.
- 5.We are thinking people who today think we like red and tomorrow green; today we are content and tomorrow not. See what a contradiction we are.
- 6.A meek man bends his back, and then God lifts it up; for a meek spirit has mastered him.
B. Exaltation and success are granted by God.
- 1.The more there is a meek spirit, and the more humbly we decide to live, the greater the power. It is not pretending that we know.
- 2.The power is for all; but for whom? For all believers who are meek and humble.
- 3.We know how to use it when you are already firm, when you no longer live in anguish, and when you turned the lament into joy.
- 4.When God looks at us, He observes what is in us. If you tell me eighty and the rest is false, then merely because there is a mixture, even of one percent, it is not.
- 5.As long as you do not let your children be deformed, they will have success; we are the ones who deform them. Give them security and stability, that they learn to love and rise upright.
- 6.And grandchildren are not to be possessed: they are to support the children, to give them strength, and to stop living so much for oneself.
C. We are stewards.
- 1.Nothing we have is ours in an absolute sense: God gave to you, and you are a steward.
- 2.When God sees that we have a willing heart, the whole world finds out; but with a hard heart we cannot render service to others.
- 3.We should have no taste for greed. Let us be able to give the plate of food and to help.
- 4.Glory, riches, and human power are temporary, and depend on the divine will. All things are temporary.
- 5.And in the end we all die, and to heaven we carry deeds. If we busied ourselves here with what does not matter, that is why we lack so much we could have today.
III.For God hath power to help, and to cast down (2 Chronicles 25:8).
A. Amaziah and the hundred thousand mercenaries.
- 1.He had hired a hundred thousand men of Israel as mercenaries for the war against Edom. And a mercenary is not the same as a warrior.
- 2.In a war there are rules, whether you like it or not; mercenaries have no rule, they respect neither child, nor adult, nor woman.
- 3.Edom is the kinsman, the twin: Esau. That is why they divide, so each would have his territory; but they became enemies.
- 4.With a hundred thousand the war would be won; that is what one might think. Yet a prophet warned him that God was not with Israel, because they were in sin.
- 5.Edom's army was stronger; but who had departed from Amaziah? God. Why? Because they did not seek God.
B. Though thou do it, and be strong for the battle.
- 1.What is strategy? The plan of action: I have it all ready, I will design how the war will go so as to reach the objective.
- 2.In life, neither strategy nor organization nor the people one brings guarantees that battles are won.
- 3.Defeat can come even with great resources, if God does not back the cause. That is why we must please God.
- 4.And why does He not back us? It is not that God will not: it is we, who live so stubborn with ourselves.
- 5.To do good is what falls to us, and not with crumbs, but with a surrender, giving the whole heart. You are not absolute on the earth: if you die, the earth keeps turning.
- 6.Victory and defeat depend on the sovereign will of God. That is why the best thing is to humble oneself and go before Him weeping and asking forgiveness; and that is simple.
C. It is in the hands of the humble, not of the haughty.
- 1.That is why the Bible says that a meek spirit uphold us. Because we are haughty: we talk and talk, and every word is out of loftiness.
- 2.To be meek is not to keep silent, but to watch what is said.
- 3.What does it cost to be humble? For the humble sleeps quietly and rises quietly. The one who made a thousand complaints rises out of sorts.
- 4.Obedience over strategy: if we plan and make alliances, we have made an arrangement; but is it not better to be obedient?
- 5.We have deformed a life that could have been that of an obedient and meek man or woman. And you lose nothing by it: you gain everyone's affection.
IV.He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud (Job 26:12).
A. God has absolute control even over the waters.
- 1.Where people once enjoyed the water, today the wave has broken the whole shore and hollowed it out like caves. And who stirs the sea? This is not a matter of seasons nor of the atmosphere: it comes from God.
- 2.In the ancient mind the sea stood for chaotic and fearful forces. Job acknowledges that those raging waters, a symbol of chaos and adversity, are under His control.
- 3.By his understanding he smiteth through the proud. For God knows; we may talk and arrange things, but pride is a danger to our inner being.
- 4.Pride seems good to a person, because then he has to live justifying himself. But God humbles the proud and the mighty.
- 5.Only the humble and the meek is the one who conquers. No one, however strong he thinks himself, can resist the wisdom and power of God.
B. God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this (Psalm 62:11).
- 1.One word of God is enough to establish an eternal truth. And we need to establish the eternal truths in our lives.
- 2.Each one has his own truth, and when they meet they are contrary. But you and I must be taught by the eternal truth: what God thinks and what the Father accepts.
- 3.Twice have I heard this is a Hebrew way of stressing the certainty and firmness of what was received; not that God repeated it, but that the psalmist understood it deeply.
- 4.All power and all authority come from God, not from men, nor from governments, nor from armies. He is the source of true strength and of control over history.
- 5.So do not go stocking a storehouse; for in the end God is the one who carries history. And if He carries it, He gives wisdom to those of us who believe and obey Him.
C. Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power (Psalm 65:6).
- 1.The mountains, by their greatness and immovability, are symbols of stability and strength; and the psalmist acknowledges that it is God who holds them.
- 2.The whole creation depends on Him. We settle nothing: we are the created. He withholds the water from heaven when He wills and sends it when He wills.
- 3.Girded with power presents God as a strong and mighty warrior; and if He is that warrior, we will not lose our battle.
- 4.His valor is not only courage, but active power to work on behalf of His people and to govern the creation.
- 5.And to him that is of power to stablish you (Romans 16:25): He alone can give stability and firmness to faith. However much you put in from your side, God alone puts it there.
- 6.Faith does not come all at once: it is added act by act. God adds slowly, so that we may reason; otherwise we take faith as a lucky charm, and faith is the assurance that God will act. Amen.
