Introducción

Para tener una vida estable, una vida batallando y una vida de victoria, debemos entender que vivimos en una batalla, porque nuestro estado de carne es inestable. Si dejamos que nuestra vida se rija por las circunstancias, somos unos derrotados. Pero si algo debemos saber es que al humilde la gracia no se le agota: la gracia es permanente. La iglesia no está basada en religión, sino en la gracia; y la gracia es Dios haciendo por ti lo que tú nunca podrías lograr por ti mismo.

I.Él da mayor gracia (Santiago 4:6).

A. Vivimos en una batalla.

1.
Nuestro estado de carne es inestable; tus pensamientos son inestables, hoy estás contento y mañana no.
2.
La alegría te la dan las circunstancias y la molestia te la dan las circunstancias.
3.
Si dejamos que nuestra vida se rija por las circunstancias, somos unos derrotados.
4.
Si vives como un guerrero, verás el bien cuando llegue el tiempo de la cosecha.
5.
Tu cosecha será hasta el último minuto de tu vida, y la descubrirás toda cuando llegues al cielo.
6.
He sido joven, y he envejecido, y no he visto justo desamparado, ni su descendencia que mendigue pan.

B. Al humilde la gracia no se le agota.

1.
La gracia es permanente, y mientras más la conocemos, más vemos el bienestar que tienen los justos.
2.
Se menciona a la iglesia como religión, pero la iglesia está basada en la gracia.
3.
En muchas ocasiones se tomó la gracia torcidamente y se formaron sectas, como decir: eres salvo hagas lo que hagas.
4.
Y no: tú tienes que vivir una vida de piedad, con un corazón transformado, porque Dios es santo, santo, santo.
5.
Si el justo lucha por algo, es porque su vida no perezca en el camino.
6.
El que perece en el camino nunca fue; el que es, es. Eso se llama predestinación, se llama elección.

C. La esencia es ser humilde.

1.
Ser humilde no es lo que tú te niegas a tener.
2.
Ser humilde es algo bien profundo: es el corazón, es nuestra alma.
3.
Lo externo lo harán fiesta los gusanos.

II.Qué es la gracia.

A. Vivir bajo el favor, la fuerza y la ayuda de Dios.

1.
No es que uno tenga más carácter ni más fuerza para hacer.
2.
Tú tienes un acusador: lo registra Job, y lo deja ver claro y preciso.
3.
Se abren los libros, se lee, y el enemigo acusa; de qué te acusa, solamente lo sabes tú.
4.
Pero Dios defiende, porque para eso está a la diestra nuestro Señor Jesús.
5.
En el tiempo de Job no lo había; en el tiempo de la gracia, Jesús dice: tiene la sangre, ya oró, pidió perdón, se humilló y se levantó.
6.
Porque la Biblia dice que saber hacer lo bueno y no hacerlo es pecado.

B. La gracia es el favor inmerecido de Dios.

1.
Desde el día en que nos convertimos vivimos bajo su favor, su fuerza y su ayuda, aun cuando no merecemos nada.
2.
Es todo lo bueno que Dios nos da sin que lo merezcamos, por amor.
3.
La gracia no es algo que ganamos por obra: el Evangelio no es por obra, es gratis, porque Cristo lo pagó todo.
4.
Si te dan corajes, tírate de rodillas y pídele perdón a Dios y dile: hazme manso.

C. La gracia es lo que nos lleva a ganar.

1.
Se nos va la vida; y donde éramos capaces de llegar hasta allá, llegamos hasta acá y nos quedamos acá.
2.
En un momento tienes más fuerza, y según la vida se va gastando se va perdiendo la fuerza.
3.
A veces tenemos lágrimas, tristeza, y no sabemos qué hacer ni qué decir; pero siempre va a resplandecer sobre nuestra vida la gracia.
4.
La gracia es Dios haciendo por ti lo que tú nunca podrías lograr por ti mismo.
5.
No es por el impulso, ni por tu fuerza, ni porque se te antoja, porque Dios es el que pone el querer como el hacer.

D. La manifestación de la gracia.

1.
Es para que gustemos del entendimiento, abramos los oídos y dispongamos el corazón.
2.
Para que tu corazón muera y sea el corazón de Cristo el que esté en cada uno de nosotros.
3.
Así vamos a ser útiles, sabios, y vamos a saber qué debo hacer, qué no debo hacer y qué debo pasar por alto.
4.
Porque a la vez que tu corazón se afecta, produce el deseo de actuar según la mente, y entonces la gracia no puede estar ahí.
5.
Dios se sobrepone a nuestra fragilidad y con fuerza pone la gracia; es un regalo que capacita tu existencia para cumplir lo que te toca cumplir.
6.
Dios siempre tiene más ayuda, más fuerza y más favor para darnos: no se agota, porque la gracia no se agota.

III.Dios resiste a los soberbios.

A. La persona orgullosa encuentra resistencia.

1.
El autosuficiente, que cree que no necesita a Dios, encuentra resistencia de parte de Dios.
2.
Por eso, siempre que voy en oración, voy en humillación.
3.
Nunca he dicho ni diré que un hermano es difícil, porque eso ya sería soberbia mía; ¿y a quién se va a castigar? A mí.

B. Dios no puede bendecir un corazón altivo.

1.
¿Qué sacamos nosotros con la altivez? Hablar mucho cuando se llega a la casa.
2.
Todas mis batallas las he ganado en humillación, en oración, en lágrimas y en dolor.
3.
Y no se crea que yo fuera tan mansa: yo picaba y mordía.
4.
Pero según uno va buscando a Dios, ese espíritu manso nos doblega; este lomo altivo se tiene que doblegar.

IV.Y da gracia a los humildes.

A. Reconocer la propia necesidad.

1.
Ser humildes nos conviene a nosotros.
2.
No es que a uno lo agarraron de bobo: tú quisiste hacer algo bueno, y si las personas lo tomaron con mala intención, eso a ti no te va.
3.
Echas un paso atrás y dejas que se manifieste la justicia de parte de Dios.
4.
Cuando reconoces tu debilidad y te acercas a Dios con un corazón sencillo, no hay nada mejor.

B. No peses el corazón.

1.
Mientras más le acumulas al corazón, más pesado queda.
2.
Y entonces el corazón te impulsa, te lleva a pensar y te pone los pies pesados.
3.
La noche se hace tragedia, el día se hace tragedia, la vida se hace tragedia; y no debemos querer la vida como tragedia.

C. Todo lo que hemos vivido ha sido bajo la gracia.

1.
Las misiones, los viajes largos, las noches sin dormir, los lugares donde había que tomar más medidas: ¿quién estuvo con nosotros si no fue la gracia?
2.
Pablo también estuvo bajo la gracia, y recibió más azotes, maltrato y hambre; lo llevaron de su nación al poderío romano y lo ejecutaron.
3.
Nosotros vivimos bajo una gracia y ellos vivían bajo esa misma gracia; a ellos les tocó.
4.
La vida de la gracia es cuando Dios te escoge: tú no eres cualquiera, eres seleccionado para el tiempo de la gracia.
5.
Aquí tú no puedes pagar nada ni decir que te esforzaste: este es el tiempo de la gracia, y todo se te ha dado.

V.Acerquémonos confiadamente al trono de la gracia (Hebreos 4:16).

A. Acerquémonos, y confiadamente.

1.
Seamos capaces de acercarnos: sin miedo, sin vergüenza, sin sentirnos indignos.
2.
Dios nos invita a acercarnos a Él.
3.
Aquí nadie es juez: todos son ovejas y el pastor guía las ovejas.
4.
El de pastor es el trabajo más simple y más ordinario: vive semana tras semana llevando a pastar las ovejas en los montes y en los valles.
5.
Y si hay sequía, se van a donde está la frescura de la buena hierba para que puedan comer. Por eso es la comparación.

B. Desde el trono Él está pendiente.

1.
Está viendo qué te hace falta y qué te inquieta hoy que ayer no te preocupaba.
2.
En dónde estás metido, donde jamás pensaste que tendrías que vivir lo que estás viviendo.
3.
Esas son nuestras realidades; nos toca vivirlas, y nunca hay que tenerle miedo a lo que nos toca vivir.
4.
Y cuando vemos el amor de Dios, lo que hace es que Dios confíe en nosotros.

C. Para alcanzar misericordia.

1.
Dios te perdona, Dios te ha limpiado y Dios tiene compasión de ti.
2.
Misericordia es no darte lo que te mereces; ¿y qué nos merecemos nosotros? Juicio.
3.
¿Cuántas veces podemos hacer el bien y no lo hacemos? ¿Cuántas veces podríamos sembrar y no lo hacemos?
4.
¿Y qué hace uno con el coraje? Nada bueno: el coraje lleva a la ira, la ira al desquite, el desquite a la venganza, y la venganza al dolor que te destruye.
5.
Imagínese a Jesús, si le hubiese dado coraje y le hubiese dicho al Padre que esta gente no lo amó: ¿dónde estuviéramos todos hoy?

D. Y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro.

1.
Gracia es Dios dándote lo que no mereces: fuerza, ayuda, favor y descanso.
2.
Oportuno socorro significa ayuda en el momento exacto, cuando más la necesitamos: ni antes ni después.
3.
Así que no hay que desesperar.
4.
Dios reina sentado en un trono lleno de gracia, lleno de favores inmerecidos, no de condenación.
5.
Porque si fuera para condenarnos, ya nos hubiera condenado.
6.
Cuando nos acercamos, lo que recibimos es amor, perdón y ayuda; Él no rechaza, los que nos rechazamos somos nosotros mismos.

VI.Por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe (Efesios 2:8-9).

A. No por obras.

1.
Dios te salva por amor, no porque lo merezcas: es un favor completamente inmerecido.
2.
Ninguno merecemos ser salvos; y desde el día en que te convertiste, ¿no piensas mal de alguien, no te da coraje con la humanidad, no te crees superior?
3.
Después tenemos que humillarnos de nuevo, porque así somos los mortales.

B. Por medio de la fe, que es don de Dios.

1.
La fe llegó a tu vida y ahí comenzaste; no viene de ti, no es tu esfuerzo: Dios la da, Dios la regala.
2.
Ni la gracia ni la fe provienen de los seres humanos: son un don de Dios.
3.
Tenemos fe y es un regalo: hay que usarlo. Tenemos la gracia y es un regalo: lo debemos usar.
4.
Se nos ha dado todo sin pagar nada; entonces soy fiel al que me ha amado, al que me cuida, al que da dones, al que preparó una morada para mí en el cielo.
5.
¿Por qué te abates, oh alma mía, y por qué te turbas dentro de mí? Espera en Dios. ¿Por qué le das lugar a la carne y al diablo?

C. Para que nadie se gloríe.

1.
Nadie puede ser salvo por las buenas acciones que realice.
2.
Decir yo ayudo aquí y yo ayudo allá es presumir.
3.
Así nadie puede decir que se ganó la salvación, y toda la gloria es de Dios.

VII.De su plenitud tomamos todos, y gracia sobre gracia (Juan 1:16-17).

A. De su plenitud tomamos todos.

1.
Todos los que hemos creído.
2.
Jesús está lleno por completo de gracia, de amor, de verdad, de misericordia y de poder.
3.
De esa plenitud nosotros recibimos, y no recibimos poquito: recibimos de su abundancia.
4.
¿Por qué ser carnal? No hay razón.

B. Gracia sobre gracia.

1.
Gracia encima de gracia, más gracia, gracia continua.
2.
La gracia nunca se seca ni se agota; la gracia no se detiene nunca.
3.
Por eso tienes pérdida: porque no aprovechas la gracia.
4.
Como olas del mar que no paran, Dios sigue derramando gracia una y otra vez sobre nosotros.
5.
Nuestro huerto de la gracia es de abundancia; son muchas plantas.
6.
Y aunque digas que hoy estás mal y carnal, la gracia está sobre gracia, para llevarnos siempre a pastos verdes.

C. La ley por medio de Moisés fue dada.

1.
La ley mostraba lo que Dios exige, y lo sigue mostrando; pero no daba fuerza.
2.
¿Por qué el pueblo pecaba una y otra vez? Porque la ley no da fuerza para cumplirla.
3.
La ley revela el pecado, pero no lo quita; cuando vives bajo la ley, la ley te condena y te sigue reclamando.
4.
Esa ley que nosotros mismos nos imponemos nos destruye, y por cualquier cosa nos sentimos miserables.

D. Pero la gracia y la verdad vinieron por medio de Jesucristo.

1.
Jesús trajo lo que la ley no podía dar: gracia, perdón, salvación, ayuda y poder.
2.
Y la verdad, esa revelación real de quién es Dios.
3.
En Jesús, Dios se acerca a nuestras vidas, perdona, restaura y capacita nuestra existencia.
4.
Bajo la gracia, el Espíritu Santo nos lleva a humillarnos, a confesar y a arrepentirnos.
5.
Y es en Jesús, porque Jesús lleva lo que sale de tu boca al oído del Padre; a Dios nadie lo puede ver, pero son uno: Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.
6.
Antes se perdonaba por sacrificio; hoy se perdona por el nombre de Cristo, porque Él lo pagó. Por eso en la cruz dijo: Padre, ¿por qué me has desamparado? Y fue por ti.

VIII.Bástate mi gracia; porque mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad (2 Corintios 12:9).

A. Bástate mi gracia.

1.
Mi gracia es suficiente: con lo que yo te doy, tú puedes seguir.
2.
No necesitas más fuerza humana: necesitas mi fuerza.

B. Mi poder se perfecciona en la debilidad.

1.
Eres débil, pues ahí se perfecciona el poder de Dios.
2.
Pensamos que Dios espera que seamos fuertes todo el tiempo. Pues no.
3.
Cuando tú estás débil, Dios se muestra fuerte; tu debilidad es el lugar donde su poder trabaja mejor.

C. Me gloriaré en mis debilidades, para que repose sobre mí el poder de Cristo.

1.
Pablo aprendió a no esconder sus luchas ni sus limitaciones; era bien sincero.
2.
Conocía sus limitaciones, porque sabía que esas debilidades atraían el poder de Cristo.
3.
Reposar es descanso: si lo aprendes a amar y te cuidas porque no quieres ensuciar tus pies, en ti va a permanecer un descanso y vas a ser feliz.
4.
Debemos reconocer nuestra debilidad y conocernos a nosotros mismos. ¿Te has dedicado alguna vez a conocerte tú, o solo a conocer a otra gente?

IX.Él es la propiciación… por los pecados de todo el mundo (1 Juan 2:2).

A. Era para todo el mundo.

1.
Cuando Jesús fue a la cruz se echó encima los pecados de todo el mundo, no los de nosotros y unos pocos más.
2.
Así es Dios; y nosotros apenas amamos al que está al lado, porque ahí le vemos toda la falta.
3.
La vida es luchar, y la vida es conquistarse uno mismo. Porque no es el otro, no es el otro, no es el otro.

X.La gracia de Dios se ha manifestado para salvación a todos los hombres (Tito 2:11).

A. Se ha manifestado.

1.
La gracia de Dios se hizo visible y nosotros la hemos visto; ya no es algo escondido.
2.
Dios la mostró abiertamente, y se manifestó en Jesucristo: en su vida, en su muerte y en su resurrección.

B. Para salvación.

1.
La gracia que Dios mostró tiene un propósito: salvar a la humanidad.
2.
Del pecado, de la condenación y de la muerte espiritual.
3.
Eso es lo que el ministro lucha por su pueblo: que esté sobre ustedes la gracia de Dios.

C. A todos los hombres.

1.
La gracia está disponible para todos: judíos, gentiles, pobres, ricos, jóvenes y viejos.
2.
Para cualquier persona que cree.

XI.Justificados por su gracia, viniésemos a ser herederos (Tito 3:7).

A. Justificados por su gracia.

1.
Ser justificado es ser declarado inocente, perdonado y limpio delante de Dios.
2.
Y esto no ocurre por obra, sino por su gracia.
3.
Es Dios diciendo: eres perdonado y aceptado. ¿Y quién hace que uno sea perdonado? Cristo.

B. Viniésemos a ser herederos.

1.
Gracias a Cristo ahora somos hijos de Dios, parte de su familia.
2.
Herederos: lo que Jesús ganó, nosotros lo hemos recibido.

XII.Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre (Lucas 22:20).

A. En memoria tuya.

1.
Este es mi cuerpo, que por vosotros es dado; haced esto en memoria de mí.
2.
Hoy podemos estar aquí sin carga y libres; no tenemos condenación, nos hemos humillado.
3.
Hemos aprendido a seguir su voz por la palabra y hemos aprendido la oración.

B. Y tu sangre, que fue vertida.

1.
Hoy todo el que le ha creído tiene su sangre, y cuando Él nos mira, su sangre le llama, porque es la suya y Él la reconoce.
2.
Esa sangre nos limpió y nos perdonó, y hoy somos libres: no hay cadena, no hay maldición, no hay dolor, no hay angustia.
3.
Y todas las pruebas las llevamos con su sangre en nuestro cuerpo y en su santo nombre.

He Giveth Grace unto the Humble: It Does Not Run Out

James 4:6

Introduction

To have a steady life, a fighting life and a victorious life, we must understand that we live in a battle, because our state in the flesh is unsteady. If we let our life be ruled by circumstances, we are defeated. But if there is one thing we must know, it is that grace does not run out for the humble: grace is permanent. The church is founded not on religion but on grace; and grace is God doing for you what you could never achieve by yourself.

I.But he giveth more grace (James 4:6).

A. We live in a battle.

1.
Our state in the flesh is unsteady; your thoughts are unsteady, today you are content and tomorrow you are not.
2.
Gladness is given you by circumstances and vexation is given you by circumstances.
3.
If we let our life be ruled by circumstances, we are defeated.
4.
If you live as a warrior, you will see the good when the time of harvest comes.
5.
Your harvest will run to the last minute of your life, and you will discover it all when you reach heaven.
6.
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

B. Grace does not run out for the humble.

1.
Grace is permanent, and the more we know it, the more we see the well-being the righteous have.
2.
The church is spoken of as religion, but the church is founded on grace.
3.
Many times grace has been taken crookedly and sects have formed, as if to say: you are saved no matter what you do.
4.
And no: you must live a life of godliness, with a transformed heart, because God is holy, holy, holy.
5.
If the righteous man strives for anything, it is that his life not perish along the way.
6.
He who perishes along the way never was; he who is, is. That is called predestination, that is called election.

C. The essence is to be humble.

1.
To be humble is not what you refuse to own.
2.
To be humble is something very deep: it is the heart, it is our soul.
3.
The outward part the worms will feast upon.

II.What grace is.

A. To live under God's favour, His strength and His help.

1.
It is not that one has more character or more strength to act.
2.
You have an accuser: Job records it, and shows it clearly and precisely.
3.
The books are opened, they are read, and the enemy accuses; what he accuses you of, only you know.
4.
But God defends, for that is why our Lord Jesus is at His right hand.
5.
In Job's time there was none; in the time of grace, Jesus says: he has the blood, he has prayed, asked forgiveness, humbled himself and risen.
6.
For the Bible says that to know to do good and not do it is sin.

B. Grace is the unmerited favour of God.

1.
From the day of our conversion we live under His favour, His strength and His help, though we deserve nothing.
2.
It is all the good God gives us without our deserving it, out of love.
3.
Grace is not something earned by works: the Gospel is not by works, it is free, because Christ paid it all.
4.
If anger takes you, fall on your knees and ask God's pardon and say: make me meek.

C. Grace is what carries us to the gain.

1.
Life slips away; and where we were able to reach that far, we got this far and stayed here.
2.
At one moment you have more strength, and as life is spent the strength is lost.
3.
Sometimes we have tears and sorrow and do not know what to do or say; but grace will always shine upon our life.
4.
Grace is God doing for you what you could never achieve by yourself.
5.
It is not by impulse, nor by your strength, nor because you feel like it, for God is the one who works both to will and to do.

D. The manifestation of grace.

1.
It is so that we may taste understanding, open our ears and dispose the heart.
2.
So that your heart may die and the heart of Christ be the one in each of us.
3.
Thus we will be useful and wise, and we will know what to do, what not to do and what to let pass.
4.
For as soon as your heart is affected, it produces the desire to act according to the mind, and then grace cannot be there.
5.
God overrides our frailty and with strength sets grace in place; it is a gift that equips your existence to fulfil what is yours to fulfil.
6.
God always has more help, more strength and more favour to give: it does not run out, because grace does not run out.

III.God resisteth the proud.

A. The proud person meets resistance.

1.
The self-sufficient one, who thinks he does not need God, meets resistance from God.
2.
That is why, whenever I go to prayer, I go in humiliation.
3.
I have never said nor will I say that a brother is difficult, because that would already be pride on my part; and who would be punished? I would.

B. God cannot bless a haughty heart.

1.
What do we gain by haughtiness? Talking a great deal once we get home.
2.
All my battles I have won in humiliation, in prayer, in tears and in sorrow.
3.
And do not think I was so meek: I used to sting and bite.
4.
But as one seeks God, that meek spirit bends us; this haughty back must be bent.

IV.And giveth grace unto the humble.

A. To acknowledge one's own need.

1.
Being humble is for our own good.
2.
It is not that someone made a fool of you: you wanted to do good, and if people took it with ill intent, that is not yours to carry.
3.
You step back and let the justice of God show itself.
4.
When you acknowledge your weakness and draw near to God with a simple heart, there is nothing better.

B. Do not weigh the heart down.

1.
The more you pile on the heart, the heavier it becomes.
2.
And then the heart drives you, leads your thinking and makes your feet heavy.
3.
The night becomes a tragedy, the day becomes a tragedy, life becomes a tragedy; and we should not want life as a tragedy.

C. All we have lived has been under grace.

1.
The missions, the long journeys, the sleepless nights, the places where more care had to be taken: who was with us if not grace?
2.
Paul too was under grace, and received more stripes, ill-treatment and hunger; they took him from his nation to the Roman power and executed him.
3.
We live under a grace and they lived under that same grace; theirs was what fell to them.
4.
The life of grace is when God chooses you: you are no ordinary person, you are selected for the time of grace.
5.
Here you can pay nothing and claim no effort: this is the time of grace, and everything has been given to you.

V.Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16).

A. Let us come, and boldly.

1.
Let us be able to draw near: without fear, without shame, without feeling unworthy.
2.
God invites us to come to Him.
3.
No one here is a judge: all are sheep, and the shepherd leads the sheep.
4.
A shepherd's is the simplest and most ordinary work: week after week he takes the sheep to pasture in the hills and the valleys.
5.
And if there is drought, they go where the good grass is fresh so the sheep can eat. That is why the comparison is made.

B. From the throne He is watching.

1.
He sees what you lack and what unsettles you today that did not worry you yesterday.
2.
Where you find yourself, when you never thought you would have to live what you are living.
3.
These are our realities; we must live them, and one should never fear what falls to him to live.
4.
And when we see the love of God, what it does is make God trust us.

C. That we may obtain mercy.

1.
God forgives you, God has cleansed you and God has compassion on you.
2.
Mercy is His not giving you what you deserve; and what do we deserve? Judgment.
3.
How many times can we do good and do not? How many times could we sow and do not?
4.
And what does one do with anger? Nothing good: anger leads to wrath, wrath to getting even, getting even to revenge, and revenge to the sorrow that destroys you.
5.
Imagine if anger had taken Jesus and He had told the Father that these people did not love Him: where would we all be today?

D. And find grace to help in time of need.

1.
Grace is God giving you what you do not deserve: strength, help, favour and rest.
2.
Help in time of need means help at the exact moment, when we need it most: neither before nor after.
3.
So there is no need to despair.
4.
God reigns seated on a throne full of grace, full of unmerited favours, not of condemnation.
5.
For if it were to condemn us, He would have condemned us already.
6.
When we draw near, what we receive is love, pardon and help; He does not reject, we are the ones who reject ourselves.

VI.For by grace are ye saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

A. Not of works.

1.
God saves you out of love, not because you deserve it: it is a wholly unmerited favour.
2.
None of us deserve to be saved; and since the day of your conversion, do you never think ill of someone, never grow angry with mankind, never think yourself better?
3.
Afterward we must humble ourselves again, for such are we mortals.

B. Through faith, which is the gift of God.

1.
Faith came into your life and there you began; it does not come from you, it is not your effort: God gives it, God makes it a gift.

Neither grace nor faith come from human beings: they are a gift of God.
3.
We have faith and it is a gift: it must be used. We have grace and it is a gift: we must use it.
4.
Everything has been given us without paying anything; so I am faithful to Him who loved me, who keeps me, who gives gifts, who prepared a dwelling for me in heaven.
5.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God. Why do you give place to the flesh and to the devil?

C. Lest any man should boast.

1.
No one can be saved by the good deeds he performs.
2.
To say I help here and I help there is boasting.
3.
So no one can say he earned salvation, and all the glory is God's.

VII.Of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace (John 1:16-17).

A. Of His fulness have all we received.

1.
All of us who have believed.
2.
Jesus is wholly full of grace, of love, of truth, of mercy and of power.
3.
Of that fulness we receive, and we do not receive a little: we receive of His abundance.
4.
Why be carnal? There is no reason.

B. And grace for grace.

1.
Grace upon grace, more grace, continual grace.
2.
Grace never dries up nor runs out; grace never stops.
3.
That is why you suffer loss: because you do not make use of grace.
4.
Like waves of the sea that do not stop, God goes on pouring out grace again and again upon us.
5.
Our garden of grace is one of abundance; there are many plants in it.
6.
And though you say today I am unwell and carnal, grace is upon grace, to bring us always to green pastures.

C. The law was given by Moses.

1.
The law showed what God requires, and still shows it; but it gave no strength.
2.
Why did the people sin again and again? Because the law gives no strength to keep it.
3.
The law reveals sin, but does not take it away; when you live under the law, the law condemns you and keeps making its claim.
4.
And that law we impose on ourselves destroys us, making us feel miserable over anything at all.

D. But grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

1.
Jesus brought what the law could not give: grace, pardon, salvation, help and power.
2.
And the truth, that real revelation of who God is.
3.
In Jesus, God draws near to our lives, forgives, restores and equips our existence.
4.
Under grace, the Holy Spirit leads us to humble ourselves, to confess and to repent.
5.
And it is in Jesus, for Jesus carries what comes out of your mouth to the ear of the Father; no one can see God, but they are one: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
6.
Before, pardon came by sacrifice; today it comes by the name of Christ, because He paid it. That is why on the cross He said: Father, why hast thou forsaken me? And it was for you.

VIII.My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

A. My grace is sufficient for thee.

1.
My grace is enough: with what I give you, you can go on.
2.
You do not need more human strength: you need my strength.

B. My strength is made perfect in weakness.

1.
You are weak, and there the power of God is perfected.
2.
We think God expects us to be strong all the time. Well, no.
3.
When you are weak, God shows Himself strong; your weakness is where His power works best.

C. I will glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

1.
Paul learned not to hide his struggles nor his limitations; he was very sincere.
2.
He knew his limitations, because he knew those weaknesses drew the power of Christ.
3.
To rest is repose: if you learn to love Him and you keep yourself, because you do not want to soil your feet, a rest will remain in you and you will be happy.
4.
We must acknowledge our weakness and know ourselves. Have you ever set yourself to know yourself, or only to know other people?

IX.He is the propitiation… for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).

A. It was for the whole world.

1.
When Jesus went to the cross He took upon Himself the sins of the whole world, not ours and a few others'.
2.
Such is God; and we barely love the one beside us, because there we see every fault.
3.
Life is to fight, and life is to conquer oneself. For it is not the other, not the other, not the other.

X.For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men (Titus 2:11).

A. It hath appeared.

1.
The grace of God became visible and we have seen it; it is no longer hidden.
2.
God showed it openly, and it was manifested in Jesus Christ: in His life, His death and His resurrection.

B. That bringeth salvation.

1.
The grace God showed has a purpose: to save mankind.
2.
From sin, from condemnation and from spiritual death.
3.
That is what the minister strives for on behalf of the people: that the grace of God be upon you.

C. To all men.

1.
Grace is available to all: Jews, Gentiles, poor, rich, young and old.
2.
To anyone who believes.

XI.That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs (Titus 3:7).

A. Being justified by his grace.

1.
To be justified is to be declared innocent, pardoned and clean before God.
2.
And this happens not by works, but by His grace.
3.
It is God saying: you are forgiven and accepted. And who makes one forgiven? Christ.

B. We should be made heirs.

1.
Thanks to Christ we are now children of God, part of His family.
2.
Heirs: what Jesus won, we have received.

XII.This cup is the new testament in my blood (Luke 22:20).

A. In remembrance of me.

1.
This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
2.
Today we can be here without a burden and free; we have no condemnation, we have humbled ourselves.
3.
We have learned to follow His voice by the word and we have learned prayer.

B. And thy blood, which was shed.

1.
Today everyone who has believed Him has His blood, and when He looks at us, His blood calls to Him, because it is His and He knows it.
2.
That blood cleansed us and forgave us, and today we are free: no chain, no curse, no pain, no anguish.
3.
And we carry every trial with His blood in our body and in His holy name.
