Para nosotros los mortales, lo más importante es nuestra madre; es un vínculo bien fuerte. Pero cuando a Jesús le dicen que su madre y sus hermanos están afuera, Él aclara, claro y preciso, quién era su familia de verdad. Lo más profundo que relaciona a una persona con otra puede no ser la sangre, sino la mente y el corazón: el verdadero parentesco es ser del cuerpo de Cristo. Y ese parentesco depende de una obediencia común, porque la familia del Señor son los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la hacen.
I.¿Quién es mi madre, y quiénes son mis hermanos? (Mateo 12:46-50).
AA. El vínculo con la madre es el más fuerte que conoce el ser humano.
1.
Es la persona por la que nos atreveríamos a hacer lo que sea.
2.
La que estuvo ahí en los momentos malos, la que nos cargó cuando no caminábamos, la que nos fue enseñando paso a paso.
3.
Aun para la persona que ha hecho mucho mal en la tierra, lo más importante es su madre.
4.
De cien personas, de seguro noventa y ocho dirán que la madre es lo más importante.
BB. Jesús vino a vivir como hombre para que aprendiéramos de Él.
1.
Creció en el vientre de María como cualquier otro ser humano: con sueños, con hambre, con alegrías y con tristezas.
2.
Vino a esta tierra sencillamente para morir por nosotros.
3.
Y en ese camino vino a dejarnos cómo deberían ser nuestros pasos.
4.
Todas sus características vino a vivirlas como hombre, para que nosotros las viviéramos como Él las vivió.
5.
Como quien dice: no es imposible vivir como yo viví, porque yo soy humano.
CC. La respuesta de Jesús parece dura, y es una enseñanza.
1.
Cualquiera diría: ella es su madre, ellos son sus hermanos, ¿cómo dice una cosa tan dura?
2.
Porque a uno rápido le da pena por María, que estaba detrás de él, y por sus hermanos, con los que jugó de niño.
3.
Nosotros rápido nos hacemos mejores que nadie: en las circunstancias y en los problemas.
4.
Pero Jesús aclaró en ese momento, claro y preciso, quién era su familia de verdad.
II.Solo la palabra nos instruye para la vida eterna.
AA. Oímos muy poco lo que de verdad debemos oír.
1.
La palabra de Dios es la única que nos puede instruir para esa vida eterna por la que luchamos.
2.
Todo lo que Jesús nos enseña es para que podamos lograr la vida eterna.
3.
Esa vida eterna se ve bien lejos, nunca se ve cerca; y preferimos lo de aquí, lo que es vano.
4.
La única manera de lograrla es a través de la palabra, porque en ella están los pasos de Jesús.
BB. ¿Cuántas horas pasamos en el celular?
1.
Media hora corrida sin darnos cuenta, a veces una hora; y hacemos todo el día así.
2.
¿Y en cuánto se puede leer un capítulo de la Biblia? En dos o tres minutos.
3.
Y esos tres minutos pasaron en el día y no lo hicimos.
4.
Porque son más gustosas las cosas de esta tierra, las cosas vanas que pensamos que llenan el ser.
5.
Hagamos conciencia y saquemos aunque sea ese par de minutos.
6.
Con razón hay que estar repitiendo las cosas; porque si no, uno lo deja pasar y lo coge suavecito.
CC. Los dichos de la tierra contra la palabra.
1.
Estamos más pendientes de los dichos necios que de la palabra de Dios.
2.
Decimos: la sangre pesa más. Son dichos de aquí de la tierra, y los tomamos para nosotros.
3.
Cuando hemos creído en una doctrina, deberíamos tener otro pensar: el de Cristo.
4.
Y Cristo dijo: mi familia son los que hacen la voluntad de mi Padre.
5.
Vivimos con los dichos, con lo que dice aquel y lo que dice el otro, como si fueran versículos de la Biblia.
III.Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios, y la hacen (Lucas 8:19-21).
AA. Los evangelios recopilan la misma historia.
1.
Esas palabras quedaron bien grabadas en todos los que escucharon lo que Jesús estaba diciendo.
2.
Lucas no estuvo con Jesús —Lucas fue con Pablo—, y trató de recopilar esa información, y también la encontró.
3.
Mateo sí era de los discípulos, así que lo escuchó y lo escribió.
4.
Sabemos, pues, que fue algo muy importante que Jesús nos quiso enseñar.
BB. A la familia se le ama igual.
1.
Por la familia se lucha y por la familia se habla también.
2.
María estuvo a los pies de Jesús llorando cuando lo mataron, y Jesús le dijo a Juan que se encargara de ella.
3.
Y sus hermanos, después de que Jesús resucitó, también creyeron.
4.
Lo que hay que entender es qué tiene peso, cuál es el orden de las cosas y qué valor le damos a cada cosa.
5.
La obediencia a la palabra es más importante que los lazos de sangre; hay que poner en una balanza qué es lo que verdaderamente pesa.
IV.Ni aun sus hermanos creían en él (Juan 7:5; Marcos 3:21).
AA. La familia de Jesús no estaba de acuerdo con Él.
1.
En Juan 7 le dicen: vete a Judea, demuestra quién eres para que la gente lo sepa.
2.
En Marcos 3 los suyos vinieron para prenderle, porque decían que estaba fuera de sí.
3.
Suele dar celos cuando los seres humanos ven a otros con poder y con autoridad, y más cuando es familia.
4.
Entre hermanos a veces hay roces de a quién quiere más papi o mami.
5.
Y no se entiende que uno como madre quiere a los hijos con el mismo amor, aunque sea más expresivo con uno según la personalidad de cada hijo.
BB. A veces los enemigos son los de su propia casa.
1.
Jesús lo advierte, porque hasta Él lo vivió.
2.
Cuando alguien se convierte, a veces a los de su casa no les gusta y se molestan.
3.
Porque es el mismo diablo el que se levanta contra la persona que se acaba de convertir.
4.
Ahora tú vas a ser un santurrón, ahora tú no vas a ser parte de la familia, ahora tú no vas a venir a la fiesta.
V.El verdadero parentesco es ser del cuerpo de Cristo.
AA. Lo que verdaderamente une.
1.
Lo más profundo que relaciona a una persona con otra puede no ser la sangre, sino la mente y el corazón.
2.
No hace falta la misma sangre para que haya una unión profunda: con el mismo pensar y el mismo corazón logramos ser uno.
3.
Pero vivimos jalándonos por los pelos: es que me cansa, yo no puedo con él, qué coraje me da.
4.
Se nos hace fácil tomar esa posición, porque aguantar al prójimo no es tan fácil.
BB. El reino de Dios es una sociedad en la tierra.
1.
Una sociedad en la que la voluntad de Dios se realiza tan perfectamente como en el cielo.
2.
Somos parte del reino de Dios, somos sus hijos, somos una familia; Dios nos adoptó a todos como hijos.
3.
Por eso entre nosotros somos hermanos, y el reino es del Padre.
4.
Así debería ser nuestra vida y la forma en que socializamos: como si estuviéramos en el cielo.
5.
Eso es lo que Dios busca de nosotros como iglesia.
CC. Jesús es el único que tuvo su voluntad en perfecta armonía con la de Dios.
1.
El Hijo de Dios encarnado como hombre terrenal lo consiguió.
2.
Nosotros tenemos que lograr eso mismo; que otros no lo hayan alcanzado no importa, yo sí quiero alcanzarlo.
3.
Vemos imposible parecernos a Jesús porque vivimos en esta carne; pero si nos lo ponemos como meta imposible, entonces sí lo será.
4.
Los que tienen como suprema finalidad hacer coincidir su voluntad con la de Dios son los verdaderos parientes de Jesús.
5.
Convertirnos en sus verdaderos parientes no de boca, sino de hechos: en cómo me comporto, en cómo reacciono, en cómo exploto.
6.
No es ser perfecto de un día para otro: si hoy metí la pata, vuelvo y me arrepiento y trato de hacer las cosas mejor.
VI.Ruego a Evodia y a Síntique que sean de un mismo sentir en el Señor (Filipenses 4:2).
AA. Dos mujeres de la iglesia de Filipos.
1.
Se cree que eran diaconisas y que estaban unidas al ministerio de Pablo.
2.
Llegaron a tener un desencuentro: una creía una cosa y la otra, otra.
3.
No dice exactamente qué fue, pero sí tuvieron un desacuerdo.
4.
Pablo tenía un buen sentir hacia ellas y un buen recuerdo.
BB. Pablo escribe preso en Roma.
1.
Se cree que le quedaban de dos a cuatro años de vida.
2.
La vida está mucho más allá de lo que vivimos, del levantarse y trabajar y volver de nuevo.
3.
Quería dejarles las enseñanzas más posibles, para que vieran a Jesús como él lo veía.
4.
Para que vieran de qué vale tener un desacuerdo aquí en la tierra: ¿cuán grandes nos hace ganar en una pelea?
5.
Todo es tan pasajero: hoy es y mañana no es. Pero eso se hace lo importante en el diario vivir.
6.
Por eso tenemos que crecer, para sobrellevar todo esto de una manera sabia, sabiendo cómo Jesús actuaría.
CC. Cuando el amor está en nosotros, el corazón late.
1.
Pablo estaba preso en Roma, pero allá estaba su corazón por esas dos mujeres.
2.
Nuestro corazón así debe latir el uno por el otro: que nos preocupemos y digamos qué le pasa a este hermano.
3.
Con mucho respeto y con mucho cuidado, porque no es estar de chismosos ni de entrometidos, sino con sincera preocupación.
4.
La pandemia trajo mucho de que cada cual esté por su lado; pero el corazón no se puede enfriar.
5.
Nos hacemos fríos y apáticos, porque es más cómodo vivir para uno en su casa y allá los demás.
6.
Pero el amor y la unidad es lo único que nos sostiene como iglesia.
DD. No traigas la ofrenda teniendo algo contra tu hermano.
1.
Ellas no eran dos hermanas impías; pero en vez de unirse, hicieron lo contrario.
2.
Se nos hace bien fácil traer la ofrenda de todos modos y seguir como si nada; y pasó un mes y la quisquilla todavía está ahí.
3.
Los dichos de la tierra dicen: él me la hizo, allá él que se la aguante.
4.
O el orgullo: que venga él y me pida perdón a mí, porque yo no fui el que le hice algo.
5.
Y son súper contrarios a los dichos de Jesús, que en la cruz dijo: Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen.
6.
A Él lo estaban crucificando; y uno se queda orgulloso porque alguien le dijo algo, porque soy muy grande para que me hieran.
VII.Sobre toda cosa guardada, guarda tu corazón (Proverbios 4:23).
AA. La unidad se rompe cuando el amor no es lo que nos mueve.
1.
Yo sé que esto cuesta: que alguien te hiera, o que se lo haga a tus hijos, no es fácil.
2.
Cuando dejamos la batalla que ese amor provoca y le damos la espalda, el tiro viene hacia uno mismo.
3.
Ese es el gran problema: que la muerte no es para el otro, es para uno mismo.
4.
Que aquel me dijo, que aquel me hizo: lo perdono, ¿qué importa? Lo que no quiero es vivir yo como muerta.
5.
Porque si no es amor, ¿qué es? Es odio; aunque con los dichos de la tierra decimos que no es odio, que es que yo no voy a permitir esto.
BB. Lo que hay que cuidar es el propio corazón.
1.
No importa aquel ni el otro: lo que importa es que yo no me esté dando el tiro yo misma.
2.
La tierra nos enseña a ponernos duros: tú no te merecías esto, mira cómo te tratan, mira lo que te hizo aquel después de todo el bien que le hiciste.
3.
Eso es lo que enseña la tierra; pero eso no es lo que enseña Jesús.
4.
Por eso vienen los desacuerdos: cuando pensamos que uno sabe hacer las cosas mejor que el otro.
CC. Sin unidad fortalecemos al enemigo.
1.
Pensamos que nos estamos haciendo grandes y que nos estamos protegiendo porque nos hieren mucho.
2.
Y lo que hacemos es darle lugar al enemigo para que se ría de nosotros.
3.
Mira todo lo que Jesús hizo por ellos para que fueran una familia; y lo que hay es discordia, pelea y problemas entre ellos.
4.
No podemos dejar de batallar por la unidad y por el amor; no nos cansemos y no nos pongamos duros.
5.
Tenemos que estar unidos para batallar contra el enemigo y sus maquinaciones.
VIII.El verdadero parentesco radica en una experiencia común.
AA. Se reconoce a los que están cerca en la familia de la fe.
1.
¿Te acuerdas cuando luchábamos juntos por la iglesia?, ¿recuerdas cuando tuvimos aquel problema?
2.
Llevamos toda una vida, con muchas anécdotas y muchas vivencias que contar.
3.
No es como los que no son de la familia de la fe, que dicen: mira qué mal les van las cosas, lo que tienen son problemas entre ellos.
4.
Eso no es ser un cuerpo, eso no es tener unidad, eso no es estar ahí para el que lo necesite.
5.
Cuando vemos cosas malas, claro que se dicen; pero con cuidado de no meter chispitas, porque a veces lo decimos con ganas de que acaben con el otro hermano.
6.
Hay que decir las cosas y hay que arreglarlas; pero viendo siempre con qué intención uno lo hace.
BB. Para ser amigos hay que llorar juntos.
1.
A una anciana se le murió una amiga, y contó sin mucho dolor que la pasaban bien juntas y reían.
2.
Y dijo: éramos compañeras; pero para ser realmente amigas, las personas tienen que llorar juntas.
3.
Podemos tener compañeros afuera y reírnos con la familia de sangre, claro que sí.
4.
Pero lo que verdaderamente nos hace amigos es la lucha, es el llorar juntos.
5.
Cuando logramos vencer un paso difícil para la iglesia, o cuando lloramos con alguien que tenía un problema y lo vimos superarlo.
6.
La base del verdadero parentesco radica en una experiencia común y en un interés común: menguar nosotros para que Jesús crezca.
CC. El verdadero parentesco depende de una obediencia común.
1.
Conocer a Jesús íntimamente y saber cómo Jesús actuaría de verdad.
2.
No con los dichos de esta tierra, sino con lo que Jesús diría.
3.
Miren cómo reaccionó: mis hermanos son estos, los que hacen la voluntad de mi Padre.
4.
Uno habría dicho: espérate, déjalos pasar, que es mi mamá; y habría dejado de hacer lo que tenía que hacer.
5.
Uno haría completamente lo contrario a lo que Jesús hizo. ¿Por qué? Porque la sangre pesa más.
IX.Doce hombres con un mismo jefe.
AA. Jesús escogió hombres comunes y distintos.
1.
Mateo era cobrador de impuestos; Simón el celote era un nacionalista de los que daban por la patria.
2.
Pedro, Andrés, Santiago y Juan eran pescadores; de los demás se cree que eran agricultores u obreros.
3.
Jesús no escogió grandes letrados, para que todo el mundo supiera que esto es algo fácil de aprender.
4.
Si uno se deja llevar, si uno es manso y humilde, lo tiene fácil.
5.
Pero si uno se pone en sus pantalones y dice yo soy así, y el orgullo brota, nunca va a estar dispuesto a aprender.
BB. Tres años formándose y luego el mundo entero.
1.
Estuvieron con Jesús tres años escuchando la palabra de Dios y formándose hasta el último día.
2.
Cuando Jesús se les aparece, Tomás lo dudó; y hasta los últimos días Jesús les estuvo enseñando.
3.
Felipe fue hacia Turquía; Bartolomé, a Armenia y a Persia; Tomás, a la India; Tadeo, a Siria y a Mesopotamia.
4.
Santiago se quedó en Jerusalén, como Juan y como Pedro, que estuvo entre Roma y distintos sitios; y Mateo llegó hasta Etiopía.
5.
En esos tres años aprendieron todo lo que tenían que aprender para que esta palabra llegara hoy hasta nosotros.
6.
Parecía poquito, pero se regó por todo el mundo; ellos vieron hasta el último suspiro de Jesús y siguieron enseñando quién era.
CC. Encontrarse en el cielo.
1.
Tenemos hermanos en el cielo; a unos no los llegamos a conocer porque éramos muy pequeños, pero a otros sí.
2.
Nosotros nos iremos yendo poco a poco; pongámonos como meta encontrarnos allá.
3.
Porque somos hermanos en la fe y hemos logrado morir a nosotros mismos para poder amarnos verdaderamente.
4.
De los discípulos, el primero que mataron fue a Santiago, y el último fue Juan, que fue el que más duró.
5.
Me imagino a Juan, al llegar al cielo, con los otros once esperándolo. Que esa sea nuestra meta también.
6.
Ellos estaban unidos porque todos habían aceptado a Jesucristo como su Maestro y su Señor; y las personas llegan a ser amigas cuando comparten un jefe en común.
X.Amar a la iglesia como el Señor Jesucristo la ama.
AA. Es más fácil abrazar el orgullo que el amor.
1.
Qué tristeza cuando esto no existe; porque se tiene la oportunidad, pero se rechaza por orgullo y por rebeldía.
2.
El amor cuesta y el amor duele; por eso decía Pablo que el amor es sufrido (1 Corintios 13:4).
3.
No abracemos la rebeldía y el orgullo más de lo que abrazamos el amor.
4.
Nuestra meta y vida común es Jesús y sus enseñanzas.
BB. Atrevámonos a resolver.
1.
A veces metimos la pata y ni siquiera nos atrevemos a pedir perdón: a veces por orgullo, otras por vergüenza.
2.
Que seamos valientes, que rompamos las barreras y no dejemos las cosas en el aire, como si no hubieran pasado.
3.
Es más fácil tomar esa posición que resolver; no la tomemos: resolvamos.
4.
Aunque la persona diga que no quiere que le pidas perdón, yo te lo quiero pedir, porque yo soy la que quiero ser libre.
5.
Somos la familia de la fe: al hermano uno le pelea y vuelve y le habla otra vez. Para eso estamos. No seamos cobardes.

What Mother and What Brethren?
Matthew 12:46-50
Introduction
For us mortals, the most important person is our mother; it is a very strong bond. But when Jesus is told that His mother and His brethren are outside, He makes plain, clearly and precisely, who His true family was. What binds one person to another most deeply may not be blood, but the mind and the heart: true kinship is to belong to the body of Christ. And that kinship rests on a common obedience, because the Lord's family are those who hear the word of God and do it.
I.Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? (Matthew 12:46-50).
AA. The bond with a mother is the strongest a human being knows.
1.
She is the one for whom we would dare to do anything.
2.
The one who was there in the bad times, who carried us when we could not walk, who taught us step by step.
3.
Even for the person who has done much evil on the earth, the most important thing is his mother.
4.
Out of a hundred people, surely ninety-eight will say their mother is what matters most.
BB. Jesus came to live as a man so we might learn from Him.
1.
He grew in the womb of Mary like any other human being: with dreams, with hunger, with joys and with sorrows.
2.
He came to this earth simply to die for us.
3.
And on that road He came to leave us how our steps ought to be.
4.
He came to live out all His traits as a man, so that we might live them as He lived them.
5.
As if to say: it is not impossible to live as I lived, because I am human.
CC. His answer sounds harsh, and it is a teaching.
1.
Anyone would say: she is His mother, they are His brothers, how can He say something so hard?
2.
For we quickly feel sorry for Mary, who was standing behind Him, and for His brothers, with whom He played as a child.
3.
We are quick to make ourselves better than anyone: in circumstances and in troubles.
4.
But Jesus made plain in that moment, clearly and precisely, who His true family was.
II.Only the word instructs us for eternal life.
AA. We hear very little of what we truly ought to hear.
1.
The word of God is the only thing that can instruct us for that eternal life we strive for.
2.
Everything Jesus teaches us is so that we may attain eternal life.
3.
That eternal life looks far off, never near; and we prefer what is here, what is vain.
4.
The only way to attain it is through the word, because in it are the steps of Jesus.
BB. How many hours do we spend on the phone?
1.
Half an hour at a stretch without noticing, sometimes an hour; and we do that all day long.
2.
And how long does it take to read a chapter of the Bible? Two or three minutes.
3.
And those three minutes passed in the day and we did not do it.
4.
Because the things of this earth are more pleasant, the vain things we think really fill our being.
5.
Let us be conscious of it and take out at least those couple of minutes.
6.
No wonder things must be repeated; otherwise one lets them pass and takes them lightly.
CC. The sayings of the earth against the word.
1.
We pay more attention to foolish sayings than to the word of God.
2.
We say: blood is thicker. These are sayings of this earth, and we take them for ourselves.
3.
When we have believed a doctrine, we ought to have another mind: the mind of Christ.
4.
And Christ said: my family are those who do the will of my Father.
5.
We live by sayings, by what this one says and that one says, as though they were verses of the Bible.
III.My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it (Luke 8:19-21).
AA. The Gospels record the same account.
1.
Those words stayed engraved in all who heard what Jesus was saying.
2.
Luke was not with Jesus — Luke went with Paul — and he sought to gather that information, and he found it too.
3.
Matthew was one of the disciples, so he heard it and wrote it.
4.
So we know it was something very important that Jesus wanted to teach us.
BB. Family is loved just the same.
1.
For family one fights, and to family one speaks as well.
2.
Mary stood weeping at the feet of Jesus when they killed Him, and Jesus told John to take charge of her.
3.
And His brothers, after Jesus rose, also believed.
4.
What must be understood is what carries weight, what the order of things is, and what value we give each thing.
5.
Obedience to the word matters more than ties of blood; we must weigh what truly counts.
IV.For neither did his brethren believe in him (John 7:5; Mark 3:21).
AA. The family of Jesus did not agree with Him.
1.
In John 7 they tell Him: go to Judea, show who you are so that people may know.
2.
In Mark 3 His own went out to lay hold on Him, for they said He was beside Himself.
3.
It often stirs envy when people see others with power and authority, all the more when it is family.
4.
Among brothers there are sometimes quarrels over whom father or mother loves more.
5.
And it is not understood that a mother loves her children with the same love, though she may be more demonstrative with one, according to each child's nature.
BB. Sometimes the enemies are those of one's own house.
1.
Jesus warns of it, because He Himself lived it.
2.
When someone is converted, sometimes those at home dislike it and are vexed.
3.
Because it is the devil himself who rises against the one who has just been converted.
4.
Now you are going to be a saint, now you are no longer part of the family, now you will not come to the party.
V.True kinship is to belong to the body of Christ.
AA. What truly binds.
1.
What binds one person to another most deeply may not be blood, but the mind and the heart.
2.
The same blood is not needed for a deep union: with the same mind and the same heart we come to be one.
3.
But we live pulling each other's hair: he wears me out, I cannot stand him, how he annoys me.
4.
We take that stance easily, because bearing with our neighbour is not easy.
BB. The kingdom of God is a society on earth.
1.
A society in which the will of God is done as perfectly as it is in heaven.
2.
We are part of the kingdom of God, we are His children, we are a family; God adopted us all as children.
3.
That is why among ourselves we are brethren, and the kingdom belongs to the Father.
4.
So should our life be, and the way we live together: as though we were in heaven.
5.
That is what God seeks of us as a church.
CC. Jesus alone had His will in perfect harmony with God's.
1.
The Son of God, incarnate as an earthly man, achieved it.
2.
We must achieve that same thing; that others have not reached it does not matter, I do want to reach it.
3.
We think it impossible to be like Jesus because we live in this flesh; but if we set it as an impossible goal, then it will be.
4.
Therefore all who have as their supreme aim to make their will coincide with the will of God are the true kin of Jesus.
5.
To become His true kin not in word, but in deed: in how I behave, how I react, how I lose my temper.
6.
It is not being perfect overnight: if today I failed, I repent again and try to do better.
VI.I beseech Euodias and Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord (Philippians 4:2).
AA. Two women of the church at Philippi.
1.
It is thought they were deaconesses and that they were joined to Paul's ministry.
2.
But they came to a falling out: one believed one thing and the other another.
3.
It does not say exactly what it was, but they did have a disagreement.
4.
Paul had a good regard for them and a good memory of them.
BB. Paul writes as a prisoner in Rome.
1.
It is thought he had two to four years of life left.
2.
Life is far more than what we live, than rising and working and doing it again.
3.
He wanted to leave them all the teaching he could, so they would see Jesus as he saw Him.
4.
So they would see what a disagreement here on earth is worth: how great does winning a quarrel make us?
5.
Everything is so fleeting: today it is and tomorrow it is not. Yet that becomes the important thing in daily living.
6.
That is why we must grow, to carry all this wisely, knowing how Jesus would act.
CC. When love is in us, the heart beats.
1.
Paul was a prisoner in Rome, but his heart was there with those two women.
2.
So should our heart beat for one another: that we care and ask what is happening to this brother.

With much respect and much care, for it is not being gossips or meddlers, but sincere concern.
4.
The pandemic brought much of everyone keeping to himself; but the heart must not grow cold.
5.
We grow cold and apathetic, because it is more comfortable to live for ourselves at home and let others be.
6.
But love and unity are the only thing that sustains us as a church.
DD. Do not bring the offering with something against your brother.
1.
They were not two ungodly sisters; but instead of uniting, they did the opposite.
2.
We find it easy to bring the offering anyway and carry on as if nothing; and a month passes and the grudge is still there.
3.
The sayings of the earth say: he did it to me, let him deal with it.
4.
Or pride: let him come and ask my pardon, because I was not the one who did anything.
5.
And they are utterly contrary to the sayings of Jesus, who on the cross said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.
6.
They were crucifying Him; and we stay proud because someone said something to us, since we are too great to be wounded.
VII.Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).
AA. Unity breaks when love is not what moves us.
1.
I know this costs: that someone wound you, or wound your children, is not easy.
2.
When we abandon the battle that love calls for and turn our back, the shot comes straight at us.
3.
That is the great trouble: the death is not for the other, it is for oneself.
4.
That one said this to me, that one did this: I forgive it, what does it matter? What I do not want is to live as one dead.
5.
For if it is not love, what is it? It is hatred; though by the sayings of the earth we say it is not hatred, only that I will not allow this.
BB. What must be guarded is one's own heart.
1.
Never mind that one or the other: what matters is that I do not shoot myself.
2.
The earth teaches us to harden: you did not deserve this, look how people treat you, look what he did after all the good you did him.
3.
That is what the earth teaches; but that is not what Jesus teaches.
4.
That is where disagreements come from: when we think we know how to do things better than the other.
CC. Without unity we strengthen the enemy.
1.
We think we are making ourselves great and protecting ourselves because we are wounded so much.
2.
And what we do is give the enemy room to laugh at us.
3.
Look at all Jesus did for them so they would be a family; and what there is, is discord, quarrelling and trouble among them.
4.
We cannot stop fighting for unity and for love; let us not grow weary and let us not harden.
5.
We must be united to do battle against the enemy and his devices.
VIII.True kinship rests on a shared experience.
AA. Those near in the family of faith are known.
1.
Do you remember when we fought together for the church? Do you remember that trouble we had?
2.
We have spent a whole life together, with many stories and many things lived to tell.
3.
It is not like those outside the family of faith, who say: look how badly it goes for them, what they have is trouble among themselves.
4.
That is not being a body, that is not having unity, that is not being there for whoever needs it.
5.
When we see wrong things, of course they are said; but carefully, without adding sparks, because sometimes we say them wanting the other brother finished.
6.
Things must be said and must be set right; but always watching with what intent one does it.
BB. To be friends, people must weep together.
1.
An old woman had lost a friend, and told without much sorrow that they had a good time together and laughed.
2.
And she said: we were companions; but to be truly friends, people have to weep together.
3.
We may have companions outside, and laugh with our blood family, of course.
4.
But what truly makes us friends is the struggle, is weeping together.
5.
When we overcome a hard step for the church, or when we wept with someone in trouble and saw him come through it.
6.
The basis of true kinship is a shared experience and a shared interest: that we decrease so Jesus may increase.
CC. True kinship depends on a common obedience.
1.
To know Jesus intimately and to know how Jesus would really act.
2.
Not by the sayings of this earth, but by what Jesus would say.
3.
See how He answered: my brethren are these, who do the will of my Father.
4.
We would have said: wait, let them through, it is my mother; and we would have left undone what we had to do.
5.
We would do the very opposite of what Jesus did. Why? Because blood is thicker.
IX.Twelve men with one master.
AA. Jesus chose common and different men.
1.
Matthew was a tax collector; Simon the Zealot was a nationalist, of the Jews who gave all for their country.
2.
Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen; the rest are thought to have been farmers or labourers.
3.
Jesus did not choose great scholars, so that everyone would know this is something easy to learn.
4.
If one lets himself be led, if one is meek and humble, it comes easily.
5.
But if one digs in and says I am like this, and pride breaks out, he will never be willing to learn.
BB. Three years of forming, and then the whole world.
1.
They were with Jesus three years hearing the word of God and being formed, up to the last day.
2.
When Jesus appears to them, Thomas doubted; and to the last days Jesus went on teaching them.
3.
Philip went toward Turkey; Bartholomew to Armenia and Persia; Thomas to India; Thaddaeus to Syria and Mesopotamia.
4.
James stayed in Jerusalem, as did John and Peter, who was between Rome and other places; and Matthew reached Ethiopia.
5.
In those three years they learned all they had to learn so this word would reach us today.
6.
It seemed so little, yet it spread through all the world; they saw the last breath of Jesus and went on telling who He was.
CC. Meeting again in heaven.
1.
We have brethren in heaven; some we never came to know because we were very small, but others we did.
2.
We will go one by one; let us set it as our goal to meet there.
3.
Because we are brethren in the faith and we have died to ourselves in order to love one another truly.
4.
Of the disciples, the first killed was James, and the last was John, who lasted longest.
5.
I imagine John, reaching heaven, with the other eleven waiting for him. Let that be our goal too.
6.
They were united because all had received Jesus Christ as their Master and Lord; and people become friends when they share one master.
X.To love the church as the Lord Jesus Christ loves her.
AA. Pride is easier to embrace than love.
1.
What a sorrow when this does not exist; for the opportunity is there, but it is refused out of pride and rebellion.
2.
Love costs and love hurts; that is why Paul said that love suffereth long (1 Corinthians 13:4).
3.
Let us not embrace rebellion and pride more than we embrace love.
4.
Our goal and our common life is Jesus and His teachings.
BB. Let us dare to set things right.
1.
Sometimes we failed and we do not even dare ask pardon: sometimes from pride, sometimes from shame.
2.
Let us be brave, let us break the barriers and not leave things hanging as though they never happened.
3.
It is easier to take that stance than to settle it; let us not take it: let us settle it.
4.
Though the person says he does not want your pardon, I still want to ask it, because I am the one who wants to be free.
5.
We are the family of faith: with a brother one quarrels and then speaks to him again. That is what we are for. Let us not be cowards.

¿Qué Madre y Qué Hermanos?
Mateo 12:46-50

“Porque todo aquel que hace la voluntad de mi Padre que está en los cielos, ese es mi hermano, y hermana, y madre.”

Lo más importante para el ser humano es su madre. Pero cuando le dicen a Jesús que su madre y sus hermanos están afuera, Él aclara, claro y preciso, quién es su familia de verdad. Estos son los puntos del domingo, para toda la semana.
La respuesta de Jesús parece dura, y es una enseñanza. A la familia se le ama igual, pero hay que poner en una balanza qué pesa: la obediencia a la palabra pesa más que los lazos de sangre.
Solo la palabra nos instruye para la vida eterna, y oímos muy poco. Pasamos horas en el celular, y un capítulo de la Biblia se lee en dos o tres minutos; saquemos ese par de minutos.
Vivimos con los dichos de la tierra —«la sangre pesa más», «allá él que se la aguante»— como si fueran versículos. Cristo dijo otra cosa: mi familia son los que hacen la voluntad de mi Padre.
Ni aun sus hermanos creían en Él: hasta Jesús vivió que los enemigos pueden ser los de su propia casa. Lo que une de verdad no es la sangre, sino la mente y el corazón.
Evodia y Síntique no eran impías, pero tuvieron un desacuerdo, y Pablo, preso en Roma, les rogó ser de un mismo sentir. ¿Cuán grandes nos hace ganar una pelea? No traigas la ofrenda con la quisquilla todavía ahí.
Guarda tu corazón: cuando le damos la espalda al amor, el tiro viene hacia uno mismo, y la muerte es para uno, no para el otro. Si no es amor, es odio, aunque la tierra lo llame «ponerse duro».
Para ser amigos hay que llorar juntos: el verdadero parentesco es una experiencia y una obediencia común. Doce hombres distintos estuvieron unidos porque tenían el mismo Jefe; que nuestra meta sea encontrarnos en el cielo.

Así lo dice la Biblia. En palabras sencillas: la familia de Jesús son los que hacen lo que Dios quiere. En el mensaje se contó de una anciana que dijo: «Para ser amigas de verdad, hay que llorar juntas». Así es la familia de la fe.
1Para casi todo el mundo, mamá es lo más importante. Por eso lo que Jesús dijo sonó duro. Pero Él no dejó de amar a María: desde la cruz le pidió a Juan que la cuidara.
2Jesús enseñó qué pesa más: obedecer la palabra de Dios pesa más que la sangre. Su familia son los que oyen la palabra y la hacen.
3Un capítulo de la Biblia se lee en dos o tres minutos, y pasamos horas en el celular. Saca esos minutos cada día.
4Los hermanos de Jesús al principio no creían en Él. A veces los que no te entienden son los de tu propia casa; a Jesús le pasó, y siguió haciendo lo que tenía que hacer.
5Cuando alguien te hiere y tú te pones duro y no perdonas, el daño no es para el otro: es para ti. Si no es amor, es odio, aunque le pongas otro nombre.
6Los doce discípulos eran muy distintos: pescadores, un cobrador de impuestos. Estaban unidos porque tenían el mismo Jefe, Jesús. Nosotros también.
